I have been a massive fan of the "ghost" range after receiving a miniature scent gift set containing ghost and ghost night. Late last year I decided to add to my fragrance collection by buying another. I went into Superdrug one lunch time and noticed the ghost range was on offer so brought 2 Ghost whisper and ghost sweetheart. Price/Availability I was lucky to buy my 30ml on offer in Superdrug which was 2 bottles of the ghost range 30ml for £30 which is a great offer as this makes it £15 each. When its no offer it normally retails for around £25 or £33 for a 50ml bottle. I haven't seen this in Boots or on Boots online but it is available in Superdrug, The Fragrance shop, Debenhams as well as online retailers such as Amazon. Its worth keeping an eye out for any offers on this, because this several in the ghost range its likely to be on offer again, if you don't mind buying 2 bottles I think it makes a good deal. Packaging It comes in a simple white and peach colour box. Its quite clean and crisp and not to in your face. The ghost logo is clear to see, the whole ghost range each has different colours for each type, for example the ghost night is dark blue and the ghost enchanted is a light purple so they all stand out from each other. The bottle is a simple tube like shape with the top being slightly bigger, the colour reflect the box with white and peach colours, its simple but works. The spray simply remove the lid and squirt. Smell I chose this smell because when I tried it on in the shop it hit me as a lovely fruity smell, on spraying it all I can smell is orange, its a very orange smell with a slight hint of almond. I myself like the sweet fruity smells and I thought this was very refreshing and would work well as a day scent. It settles onto the skin well, with all the orange you would think it would be sticky but this was not the case. I spray about 3/4 onto my neck and once settled it has a light musk smell along side the fruitiness, it lasts a decent amount of time probably 4/5 hours, or at least I myself cannot smell it after then which I think is ok, if I wear it I do take it along to reapply. In terms of wearing this I tend to wear it a lot for work, I think its a great day scent and as I spend 5 days at work each week it usually ends up being worn on one of these days and occasionally weekends especially in the summer as it reminds me a summers day. I wouldn't say it has an age range because the ghost range itself is so vast it suits everybody, I would say this will suit somebody who does like the fruity scents, especially orange! Overall Its not my favourite ghost scent but it is still a nice smell all the same. It is very orangey and so if you don't like orange don't try this, if you do give it a whiff and see what you think. Its light, summery and fruity and worth a go for a day wear scent.
I received this Ghost Whisper eau de toilette recently and although it's probably not one which I would have chosen to purchase for myself I love to try out new perfumes so I eagerly gave it a go. Unfortunately this is a fragrance which really hasn't blown me away. It comes in a simple glass bottle which is tapered in the middle. I am neutral on the look of this - it is perfectly fine and doesn't look tacky but neither could I really claim to find it special at all. I have to admit I quite dislike the name "ghost whisper" as it just makes me think of the ghost whisperer! However I do see where they were coming from with the name as whisper does make me expect a soft, delicate and gentle scent, which could be quite appealing. On first spray I was quite curious about how this would smell as I couldn't remember what I had previously heard about it, so had no idea what type of perfume it was really. I was expecting a fairly generic soft floral, but that's not really exactly what it is. I was first hit by the strong alcohol smell of it. As well as the alcohol, which makes it smell a bit chemically to me, there is just a general strong sweetness which I find a bit plasticky. According to fragrantica the top notes are mandarin, star fruit and almond. I dont think that's what I would have guessed at all, but once I read it I was not that surprised. The almond will be what is making it so sweet, but it doesn't smell recognisably almondy to me at all. I normally love almonds. There is a citrus fruitiness to it which smells a bit "fruit salad". The description claims it has sparkling topnnotes but I would really beg to differ. Sparkling to me means light and gentle but pretty, whereas this was an overbearing assault on the senses which then calmed down. Once the alcohol disappears I find it does smell better but I just dont love it. After a while the musk can be clearly detected and then it meshes into a generic sweet musk scent for me. This I am not keen on. I'm not adverse to some musk (for example I love Narciso Rodrigues For Her, a very musky scent) but here it just doesn't work for me and feels cloying. I felt a bit self conscious while wearing it as I slightly disliked the scent and felt it really wasn't very "me" and hoped it wasn't that noticeable. It did not seem to be,as no one made any comments about it and I did not catch any hints of it on myself during the day, which I often do especially with a new perfume as I would be more sensitive to the scent. Normally when I have a new perfume on I feel the urge to sniff my wrists every now and again enjoying it. However with this one I was just sniffing to see if it was gone yet! Luckily it did not last long on my skin and was gone or much much less noticeable after a couple of hours. I would not go so far as to say I hate it, but personally I didn't like it as I think it smells too artificial to begin with and I dislike the sweet musk which it then becomes. The muskiness makes it seems wintry to me but I would expect a winter perfume to have much better staying power. I'm sure some will love it as fragrance is a personal thing but it is not one which appeals to me. It is a relatively cheap fragrance as Ghost is one of the cheaper perfumes brands, but still not dirt cheap. Whisper eau de toilette can be bought for £24.90 for 30 ml from Debenhams, £33.90 for 50 ml or £46.50 for 75 ml. You can probably find it cheaper online if you shop around.
I adore using beautiful fragrances on my skin and whilst I am not remotely interested in designer brands in relation to clothes and handbags, they are my only choice when it comes to perfumes. I have a few firm favourites such as Beautiful by Estee Lauder and Beauty by Calvin Klein, but I prefer to alternate my fragrances, particularly as after a period of continuous use my sense of smell becomes accustomed to my perfume and I need to re-awaken my nasal passages. I normally choose eau de parfums as opposed to eau de toilettes due to the fact that they are more concentrated and as a result, offer a longer lasting aroma. For Christmas last year I received a 50ml bottle of fragrance belonging to Ghost, namely Ghost Whisper and this review discusses my thoughts and experience. I adore the appearance of the tall glass bottle with its sleek curves and contemporary design, which is very feminine and fresh. Ghost Whisper is dispensed in a fine mist and opens with the most enchanting and delightful accord with the uplifting and refreshing scent of mandarin, which is perfectly accompanied with further fruitiness of the star fruit. To compliment the slight sharpness that both these fruits offer the designer has added a hint of soft white almond and the delightful aroma is evident for a good ten minutes before being joined by the heart notes. It is at this point that the fragrance begins to come alive with its floral tones of the honeysuckle flower, which promptly whisks me back to my childhood. This is accompanied with hydroponic honeysuckle together with the striking and charming aroma of jasmine and the uplifting zest of orange flower. These heart notes delicately sit on my skin for approximately an hour before the base notes become evident. I'm a huge fan of musk fragrances and was thrilled to witness the scent in the base notes when it swirls into recognition together with powdering helitrope and creamy woods. The notes work in harmony to create the most stunning scent that is perfect for wearing during the summer months. Whilst the aroma of musk can occasionally be deemed as too heady the designer has achieved the perfect balance in this fragrance with its sensual and romantic tones together with the uplifting zestiness of the citrus fruits. As Ghost Whisper is an eau de toilette it contains approximately 1 - 6% perfume concentrates, so its longevity is considerably less than an eau de parfum, which contains approximately 7 - 15% of oil concentrates. I find that I am able to witness the enchanting aroma from the time I spray in the morning until around lunchtime, so I can achieve a good four hours of scent before needing to reapply, which is pretty good going for an eau de toilette. The fact that the skin on my body can be described as normal with the exception of a few dry patches is a huge bonus when it comes to wearing fragrances as my skin's natural moisturise is able to grip the scent for much longer. It is recommended that fragrances be applied to pulse points, ie wrists or behind the knees, as it is quickly heated due to these areas consisting of blood vessels that are close to the skin's surface. Consequently, the aroma emitted is considerably intensified. This is a beautiful summer scent and would be well suited for women aged late teens and upward. A point I would make here is that many years ago I would make a fragrance purchase within seconds of witnessing its aroma in store. However, as the scent can differ from one person to the next due to a number of reasons such as their age, diet and skin type I will always request a spray on a pulse point and leave the store until all of the notes have fully developed. Consequently, the majority of my fragrances purchased are not made on the same day. Ghost Whisper is available in three sizes and I have checked the Boots website for up to date prices where you can obtain the 30 ml bottle for £24, the 50 ml bottle for £32.50 and the 75 ml bottle for £44.50, which I think represents good value for money. As this is such a gorgeous and very desirable eau de toilette it receives 5 stars from me together with my recommendation. I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
