“ Brand: Gianni Versace / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Toilette / Gender: for women „
I was bought this as a gift years ago and have always had a bottle ever since. I absolutely love this perfume! It's the best one I've found for every day wear- and I often get compliments about it!
I love natural, light scents and this is such a lovely feminine scent that is very like baby powder. It's a very clean smell that isn't heavy and lasts for ages! The bottle is also very cute and looks great on any dressing table! It's girly and feminine and looks the part! The tin that the bottle comes in is also very cute! In terms of price you can't beat this perfume! It's so cheap that you can afford to replace your old bottles straight away which many of my friends can't always do with their more expensive scents. It's a great scent for a young girl as it's not too mature or over powering- I first got this when I was 14 and have been using it ever since. It's a great gift or even if you just want to treat yourself!
Buying a perfume online without having smelled it first is a risky business. You can read as many descriptions and reviews as you like, but it's always a bit of a gamble as to whether or not you will actually like the fragrance that you receive. I bought my bottle of Versace Baby Rose Jeans online after reading a short description on the website I was buying it from, and kept my fingers, legs and toes crossed that I would like it. For once the gamble paid off and this has become one of my favourite every day fragrances.
This scent was launched in 1995 and is one in a range of Versace Jeans fragrances - others in the collection being Red Jeans, Yellow Jeans, Metal Jeans and White Jeans for women and Blue Jeans and Baby Blue Jeans for men. There may have even been others released that I'm not aware of.
The fragrance comes packaged in a pink tin, which has a picture of a gypsy girl in dungarees on the front and is decorated with green wreaths peppered with rose. The lid of the tin features the Versace logo and it is lined with a corrugated cardboard sleeve to protect the bottle inside. I like the fact it comes in a tin rather than a cardboard box, as of course the tin can be reused once the fragrance has run out.
The bottle is, in my opinion quite cheap looking and not really as elegant or sophisticated as you might expect from a brand like Versace. It is frosted glass which is embossed with the Versace lions head, and has a cheap looking baby pink plastic lid. My best bottles of perfume go on display on my dressing table, but this one stays firmly in a drawer unfortunately.
Thankfully, the fragrance is much nicer than the bottle it is presented in. According to the wonder that is Google, the top notes of this fragrance are Bergamot, Lemon, Peach and Green notes. I should explain, the top notes are what you can smell immediately after the fragrance is sprayed. I can definitely smell a sharp, fruity scent when I spray this, which I assume could be the lemon, but I wouldn't necessarily say that it smells like lemon. It's more a leafy fragrance to my nose, mixed with alcohol. The top notes settle down really quickly on my skin and the initial sharp scent disperses and soon reveals the middle notes.
The middle notes of the fragrance (again courtesy of a Google search, since it doesn't list them on the bottle) are carnation, ylang ylang, orchid and Orris. I had to look up Orris as that was a new one on me, and turned to my good friend Google yet again, who informs me that Orris is Iris Root. I admit that I can't really smell any of these individually in the perfume (or I should say eau de toilette, as that's what it is), but what comes out to me with the middle notes is baby powder mixed with rose. I suppose that would in fairness explain the 'Baby Rose' part of the name. It's such a gentle and feminine scent and although this is certainly a floral fragrance, it's in no way overpowering or sickly as some other floral perfumes can be.
The base notes come through some time after the perfume has been applied, and it is the base notes which linger on your skin. These are sandalwood, cedar, vanilla and vetiver. The only one I can identify is the vanilla which is to me sweet but not overpowering.
This fragrance is by far a daytime scent in my opinion. It's very light and soft, and for evenings I would prefer something heavier and perhaps a little more exotic or sensual. This is said to be perfect for office wear and I would agree with that. I usually wear it during the day at work, or just when out shopping. It's not one I would save for special occasions, but it's a scent I'm happy to wear day to day.
I think I would also describe this as quite a young scent. It would be perfect for younger teenagers who don't want anything too heavy or overpowering, as it's so light and almost clean smelling. The baby powder scent makes it soft and not harsh, and I don't think it's the sort of smell that could offend anyone's senses too badly even if you are heavy handed when applying it!
The main downside of this fragrance for me would have to be the staying power. Unfortunately I don't find it to last very well, and within 2-3 hours I need to re-apply which is a bit of a pain in the neck. Perhaps it's something to do with it being such a light fragrance that it goes so quickly, but that is one of the only things I think I would improve...along with the bottle!
This scent can be picked up really cheaply online at the moment. I bought mine from www.cheapsmells.com a while ago, and it is currently retailing at £9.65 for a 50ml bottle which isn't bad. Of course if you look around you may even be able to find it cheaper still.
On the whole I think this is a lovely fragrance and it's one I'd recommend. If you're looking for a Christmas present, I think this could be a nice gift for someone who likes clean, floral fragrances. The main downsides for me are that I personally don't like the bottle and it doesn't have brilliant staying power. Scent wise however, I love it and it's definitely one I would buy again.
I purchased this perfume from a duty free shop in Manchester Airport a few years back. From what i can remember it was around £10 for a 50ml bottle which is very cheap for a Versace product. You can also purchase this perfume from other retail shops such as boots and the perfume shop, but i presume they will be more expensive from there.
The perfume bottle comes in a really pretty light pink tin with floral patterns all around it. This is really appealing. Then the bottle itself is a plain and simple glass bottle with a bumpy flower shape texture to it with a lovely little pink lid which can easily be taken on and off.
The scent of this perfume is gorgeous! It has a really light summery, floral smell to it and is a great perfume for the summer or going on holiday. A little goes along way as the smell lasts for a long time. This perfume is great for all ages but im sure teenagers would be very fond of this perfume.
Overall, this perfume is very good value for money (especially if your buying it from an airport) and the smell is delightful!
Baby Rose Jeans is a perfume that I used as a teenager. I remember buying it as it was reasonably cheap yet with the Versace name behind it. I used up that bottle some time ago and moved one buy while doing recent searches for my perfume collection I kept seeing Versace Red Jeans and a few Christmases ago got my brother the male Blue Jeans version. But I never seemed to see the Baby Rose variety.
So I hunted it down on ebay and bought a bottle of 50ml for just about £6 which is pretty good for a perfume. It was just as I had remembered, it came in a light pink tube with the Versace lions on the tin lid. In fact, it's quite a handy storage tin. The bottle is quite simple, yet sweet with embossed lions and a zig zag pattern at the bottom. The perfume inside is a pale lemon colour and the cap is a baby pink.
The notes to this fragrance are mandarin, vanilla, sandalwood and violet. It is a very pleasant light mix and the notes complement each other very well leaving a light and not overpowering scent that is soft with a hint of floral. I find it to be light enough for everyday use but do sometimes think that though it's aimed at the youth market, it smells a bit old but sometimes I don't think that at all and I think it smells fresh and innocent so maybe it smells different depending on your skin or hormones or something.
Another great thing about this is that the smell lasts for ages, even I can detect it on myself some time later and the fact that it is so cheap. You can probably find this in the shops if you look carefully but as I say ebay has cheap bottles.
When I was 14 I went to Australia to visit family. On the way there we stopped off in Singapore. Anyone who has ever been to Changi airport will know what I mean when I say was overwhelmed by the perfume shops!
This was the perfume I ended up choosing. I liked it then because it was sweet and powdery and light. I have to say that I still absolutely love it today.
Baby Rose Jeans comes in a lovely little cylindrical baby pink coloured tin. The tin has little illustrations of a belt and a purse as well as the main image of a young girl with long blonde hair wearing jeans and surrounded by an arch way of flowers.
The little round lid of the tin is a pink background with the Versace lion taking up most of the circle. It really is very striking packaging and an excellent way to protect your bottle if you carry it with you!
The bottle itself is cylindrical at the base and comes up to a point at the top. It is made from frosted glass with beautiful Versace lions at four points around the bottle. The front has the word Versace in pink, followed by Baby Rose jeans in pink with yellow highlights. The font has a fancy calligraphy look to it.
I have the 50ml version which has an atomiser spray like most perfumes do. The spray dispenses a good amount of the perfume on to the skin. The lid of the bottle is pale pink plastic and it also bears the Versace Lion head on the top.
The notes of the perfume have been described as...
Top Notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Peach, Green note
Heart notes: Carnation, Ylang-Ylang, Orchid, Orris
Base note: Sandal, Cedar, Vanilla, Vetiver
I would say that you definitely get the peach, carnation, ylang and orris plus the vanilla.
The combination of fragrances makes this perfume very sweet. Peach is a bright and uplifting scent, while orris and vanilla are much more rich and comforting. I think that is one of the main points about this scent. It is light, but there is great depth to it. It is a warm and comforting scent which is like being wrapped up in a big pink hug!
The scent doe last for quite a while. There are some very popular perfume out there that you feel you have to re apply every hour. Not this! In a 1 hour day I would say I re apply this about three times, and I am a serial perfume sprayer. But you just don't need too much of this. It is perfect for a little hint of sweetness.
To be honest, if you use too much of this it could be a little bit cloying. It is one of the sweetest perfumes I have ever smelled and I absolutely adore it, but you could easily over do it and end up smelling like a sweet shop, so just be careful!
Price and availability
For a designer perfume, Baby Rose Jeans is usually a very low price! It costs £9.95 for 50ml on Amazon at the moment! In shops it is usually about £15. Still cheap considering you could pay up to £50 for other branded perfumes!
Baby Rose Jeans is not as widely available as the better known perfumes in the brand - Red and Blue Jeans. Red jeans has certainly been the most popular of the Versace Jeans perfumes. But I think Baby Rose is much nicer and more delicate. Although it is available in some shops, it can be difficult to find at times and as always, cheaper on Amazon. I would recommend that you smell it somewhere and then buy it on Amazon!
This was one of the only perfumes I wore up until I was about 18 so it does remind me of young, carefree summer holidays and also of the beginning of my relationship with my boyfriend of 7 years! So there is definitely a lot of sentimental value attached to this perfume for me.
The scent is sweet and floral but very modern, not granny floral! It is a brilliant perfume for wafting. Do you ever notice those glamorous women who waft past you and you have a lovely little trail of their extremely expensive perfume left behind? This is a perfume like that. It stays on the skin all day and wafts very nicely and gently. It's one perfume where I am always asked what it is and where people can buy it from.
I think because of the name and the packaging and the low price, people often avoid this perfume thinking it may be cheap or old fashioned. It is not. It's one of those great undiscovered little gems that always has people asking for a skoosh for themselves!
It is very sweet though, so if you are the kind of person who opts for heavier, musky or herby scents then this is not for you. But is you like light and sweet scents, by all means give this a try. People who like this perfume also love scents like baby powder, roses, carnations, sweeties, marshmallows and vanilla.
Basically, this perfume smells allinnocent and lovely and pink and soft and sweet. It really is like a big pink hug in a bottle and I heartily recommend it as a great day to day perfume for people who need a little sweetness in their lives!
