Advantages: Smells great, good value for money, lasts a long time

Disadvantages: Gel can gather around the nozzle area

I have been using the Gillette range of shower gel ever since I have enough stubble worth shaving. I came across Gillette 'Coolwave' Shaving Gel when it was on a buy one get one free offer at Tesco and have been using it ever since.

Packaging
This Gillette shaving gel comes in a canister that is primarily blue with a silver ring around the top. The lid is clear plastic and pops on and off easily. The name of the product is written across the front of the canister and on the back are directions for use, written in five different languages, along with the ingredients and the questions and comments helpline number and web address. The best before date is written across the bottom of the canister.

Price
As I mentioned earlier, I tend to do my shopping at Tesco and this product costs £1.98 for a 200ml canister. Occasionally they are on the 'buy one get one free' offer.

Look
When you press down the top of the canister, the gel comes oozing out and at first looks like minty blue toothpaste. After about 10 seconds, the gel begins to whiten a little and looks like a cross between gel and foam.

Smell
Personally I really like the smell of this. It smells similar to men's Lynx Touch deodorant and has a very refreshing smell to it; it certainly wakes me up when I am shaving in the mornings. I find that the scent remains on my face for about an hour after shaving.

Applying The Gel
As above, depress a small amount of gel into the palm of your hand. Be sure not to squeeze out too much, as this gel does expand as you begin to use it. Once you have enough in your hand, begin to rub it onto your face (or the area you are shaving) and it will begin to foam up. I would say that you get 4 times the amount of foam compared to the amount of gel once you begin to rub it onto your skin. This is one of the main reasons I buy gel instead of foam, as I feel you get more use out of the gel canister than you would the foam equivalent.

Summary
I would recommend this product. It smells great, is easy to use, is an affordable price and is also gentle on my skin which can sometimes be sensitive especially when shaving every day. I think this gel gives a very good finished effect, providing me with a very close shave (not like Wallace and Gromit!!)

Summary: A decent shave gel
