I first bought Acqua di Gioia when I was around 16 on holiday with my family. I was never interested in perfumes but was taken to a shop and while I was trying to pass time, I happened to smell this particular scent. As soon as I tried it I loved it which I found unusual as I have not really found any other perfume before or after this that I really liked. I wear this scent every day and while I could not pick out the different smells myself (due to lack of perfume knowledge) it is described as having heart notes of jasmine and top notes of mint leaves. When first putting the perfume on it does have a strong smell which I like very much, but after a few minutes it sinks into your skin and the smell it settles into is perfect for me. I find that this perfume lasts most of the day subtly but I either reapply or spray it onto my scarf to create a burst of scent when moving throughout the day. The bottle is attractive and a sort of square shape with rounded edges which I really like. It has a simple and elegant look to it. The bottle is clear with black writing stating the brand and name of the perfume only and has translucent blue lid. I am currently about halfway through my third (30ml) bottle of this perfume and it is the only one I have worn and will continue to wear for the next few years at least. I love the scent and find it is very long lasting through the day so as a result a bottle lasts a long time, making it worth the price to me.
Acqua di Gioia (30 ml) by Giorgio Armani Giorgio Armani's Acqua di Gioia is an Eau de Parfum said to be inspired by the distant islands Giorgio Armani uses to relax and refresh. Containing base notes of cedar, labdanum and brown sugar and top notes of mint and lemon this perfume has a strong fruity yet almost aquatic scent. This aquatic note is created by the middle notes of aquatic green accord, pink pepper, jasmine sambac and peony. I bought this perfume for half price in the Boxing Day sale at Boots last Christmas. It was a perfume that I liked but still left me unsure of whether I liked it enough to justify buying it. At half price I couldn't deny myself and decided to buy it. I chose this perfume over others available as personally I like strong perfumes that aren't likely to fade quickly and therefore don't have to be re-applied every few hours. I know that I can wear a few sprays of this in the morning and still catch a waft of the scent when I get changed for bed in the evening. I also like the aquatic yet fruity scent of this perfume in some ways it is the one of the most masculine feminine perfumes I have ever smelt and that appeals to me. I tend to dislike sugary sweet perfumes and this is certainly not one of those. However, after a while the fruitiness of the perfume does tend to disappear and you are left with the strong aquatic note which, personally, I still like as it reminds me of that strong ocean breeze you get around the Mediterranean which instantly reminds me of previous family holidays. As I have said this scent conjures up old memories for me and I often wear it when feeling nostalgic most of the time I wear it simply because it has a wonderful scent. I own a lot of perfumes, including perfumes I have bought and been given as presents, and this one I bought myself is definitely one I would buy again. I have had this perfume for the best part of a year and I still have around half a bottle left despite wearing it the most often out of all my perfumes. This is because of its longevity of scent. I also like the simple bottle design of this perfume which gives it a minimalistic modern look as opposed to some perfumes, such as Marc Jacob's Lola, which have fussy extroverted bottles. However, the minimalistic nature of this bottle does make it look slightly like the bottle for a man's aftershave. I bought this product at boots in the 30 ml size where it is still available for the price of £39 or £46 for a 50ml bottle. It also available at a number of other retailers both online and instore at similar prices for each size.
