Advantages: A long lasting pretty fragrance
Disadvantages: Possibly slightly overpowering
City Glam by Emporio Armani is quite a modern but expensive smelling scent, I first received this perfume as a Christmas present and it is one of my occasional use perfumes. This fragrance used to be quite expensive like most Emporio Armani fragrances, however it is possible to pick this up cheaper now from discount perfume retailers. For example it is possible to pick up a 30ml Eau De Parfum for £14.62 from Perfume Point.
**The Bottle**
The City Glam bottle looks very pretty and girly and also quite modern. The bottle is a cylinder shape and coated in a metallic light pink colour. The text Emporio Armani City Glam is printed upper case around the bottle in silver, this makes the text stand out and look very modern and expensive. The Armani logo is situated at the top and Armani letters are embossed into the bottle around the bottom. The perfume bottle doesn't have a lid as such, to spray the perfume there is a soft section on the top which you press down and the perfume sprays from the side of the bottle. This could be a little dangerous as the perfume could possibly spray in your bag but I think there would have to be something pretty heavy pushing on the lid for this to happen. The perfume is also packaged in a box which comes in a very modern looking silver foil wrapper with pink city glam writing printed on it.
**The Fragrance**
The fragrance is quite heavy smelling when you first spray it on but it does spray in a quite a fine spray so the initial hit soon wears into a nice subtle scent. I generally wear it day and night. And for many ocassions; work, days out, nights out. Due to the perfume being slightly overpowering initially only a spritz or two is needed. Emporio Armarni describe the perfume as "A glamorously intoxicating, fruity and mischievous chypre: Bulgarian rose, mirabelle plum, Indian patchouli and crystal moss." Which has top notes of black currant buds, mirabelle plum and coriander, 'middle notes' of Bulgarian rose and floral notes and 'base notes' of Indian parchouli, crystal moss and white musks. Now I have never even heard of half these ingredients and a lot of them sound quite strange but the perfume certainly doesn't smell strange it has a unique but very attractive smell. The musky and floral tones are probably most prominent although reading the description the fruity smell that is quite strong must be the black currant buds. The smell of the perfume seems to last quite a while, all throughout the day at least and if I wear it during winter I can always smell it on my scarf the next day.
I happily wear this perfume on the odd occasion as I have lots of different perfumes, I do like the smell of it and would be likely to replace it due to the cheap price that it is available for. All in all a more modern perfume which I think Armani are aiming at the younger market than classics such as 'She' which I would say is aimed at all age ranges.
Summary: A nice general day to day fragrance
