I recently purchased Idole d'Armani online as I liked the bottle and I noticed it had disappeared from the shelves in Boots so I guessed it was being discontinued.
~ Price ~
This fragrance is becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of.
It is currently available on Amazon.co.uk for £39.00 for the 50ml eau de toilette or £64.80 for the 75ml bottle.
~ Bottle ~
I ordered the eau de toilette. It comes in a flat circular chunky clear glass bottle. The bottle is just over an inch thick and it has ridges going right around the perimeter.
"Idole d'Armani eau de toilette" is in white lettering on the front of the bottle.
The lid of the bottle is made from silver metal and is quite heavy. It is shaped like a cylinder cut in half. The lid sits quite low down on top of the bottle and it looks chunky and cute.
The spray release button has 'GA' embossed on the top of it.
I really like the bottle. Although it is not the most feminine, it looks chunky and cute. I like the shape of the bottle and the lid is a nice finishing touch.
~ Scent ~
This fragrance is light, fresh and citrusy. It has a slight white floral edge.
The fragrance offers notes of bitter orange, softened ginger, davana, jasmine, patchouli, styrax and amber.
The fragrance is crisp and I actually find it quite masculine.
The patchouli is also evident in the fragrance, but for me the scent is citrusy from beginning to end. It is a little bit sharp, but not offensive.
I think it is more of a day time fragrance than one for special occasions or nights out.
The scent is probably better suited to younger women, but it is quite masculine, so will not be to everyone's tastes.
I personally am not offended by this in the slightest and I do like it, but it is certainly not one of my favourite fragrances as it is quite unexciting and one dimensional. I tend to prefer floral or fruity scents.
I don't think it smells expensive. It isn't too different from a unisex fragrance that I have called Kindred Spirit (you can buy the body spray in Home Bargains). In the past I have purchased the 95ml Kindred Spirit eau de toilette for just £2.99.
I have found that Idole d'Armani lasts around 5 hours on my skin before fading away without a trace. I am fairly disappointed with the longevity of this fragrance.
~ Conclusion ~
I would not recommend this perfume as it is quite expensive and the scent is masculine and one dimensional.
It is nice enough and my bottle will not go to waste, although it will probably not be used very regularly, but I don't think it is worth the hefty price tag.
I haven't been too impressed with the longevity either, the fragrance lasting around 5 hours on my skin.
I really like the bottle though - mine is the 50ml bottle and it is so chunky and cute. I think the 50ml bottle is the perfect size - it doesn't look too small, but it doesn't look to large either! Although it is fairly plain, I really like the design of the bottle.
