There are a lot of perfumes on the market today and I like to look around and see what is on special offer as I like to have a wide variety of perfumes so that I do not wear the same one day in and day out and get bored of the scent.
The one that I stumbled across in the shop the other day was Giorgio Beverly Hills Eau De Toilette it was at the reduced price of £19.99 which I thought was a bargain as I had previously seen it retailing for around the £40-£45 mark. This to my surprise I then realised that it was a 90ml bottle which made this great value for money.
This has been a perfume that has been around for as long as I can remember and I have seen this perfume in the most fragrance shops and departments. unfortunately due to the high price tag it has always put me off of making a purchase, until now.
I have now been wearing this perfume on and off for the past month and I have found that it is a very distinctive fragrance that lasts all day. I find that it does slightly fade as the day progresses but it is still noticeable that you are wearing a fragrance at the end of the day. It is a very feminine fragrance and with its floral scent it makes you feel very glamorous.
It is a beautiful fragrance that is great on a summers day and after a month when I look at the bottle only a small amount had been used, which makes it great value for money.
I have found that a little of the fragrance goes a long way and you need to make sure that you do not overindulge in this fragrance otherwise it could become very strong and overpowering.
I have been onto the Internet to get a precise description of what specialists say this perfume smells of and they say that it has heart notes of jasmine, gardenia, tuberose and orchid. It has a top note of orange flower and a base note of sandalwood.
The bottle comes with a distinctive gold top and it look great with its curved shape, it then has the famous Giorgio logo on. the box is easy to recognise amongst all of the other brands as it's a bright box, with yellow and white stripes all over it.
Overall this is a perfume that I that like, but if I had to pay the full price I would probably not purchase it again as I wear perfume every day and like to grab myself a bargain. I also prefer to use different perfumes so that I do not get bored and too familiar to the fragrance. But when I run out if I come across this on special offer again I will definitely make another purchase.
im actually excited to be writing a review about this product, i was first introduced to this amazing perfume from a family member who brought me it for a birthday present and oh my it is my absolute favourite perfume ever now. the smell it has is just gorgeous and the best thing of all is that it actually lasts all day. i have found with many other dearer perfumes that the fragrance fades away within a few hours, but this one just goes on and on. i love the bottle it also comes in, its nicely done and i would of thought it would of been alot dearer but the price is really reasonable. although i will admit i am finding it hard to locate any shops that tend to sell it, i know savers do it but my local shop has since sold out many times. i do reccomend this to everyone, go out and get it lol
I have never been fussy about brands etc when it comes to buying perfume, I simply go with whatever fragrances appeal to me and their staying power.
I tend to stay away from the more floral fragrances and enjoy the spicy, musky or oriental fragrances, although I don't like my perfume to be heavy or overpowering in any way. A musky perfume that's not too heavy and suitable for everyday use, which also doesn't disappear minutes after spraying is what appeals to me.
Giorgio Beverley Hills is now thought of as a 'classic fragrance' having been around now 30 years - I must admit I was surprised to discover that fact and it is another example of how quickly time passes!
The Giorgio brand began life as a high-end boutique in Beverly Hills, famed for dressing the Hollywood stars and celebrities. In 1981 the brand expanded into fragrances, launching its 'Giorgio' signature scent for men, before launching more fragrances for men and women.
This particular fragrance is one that holds some special memories for me. Just as a certain song can transport you back to a particular time of your life or a special moment, so can a certain fragrance evoke memories too. The first gift my partner ever bought for me not long after we met was a bottle of Giorgio Beverley Hills. I had no experience of this perfume back then and had no idea what its fragrance was like and more importantly, if I would like it. My partner had been spraying testers and thought I would like it, based upon the type of fragrance he could detect on me when we were together and also because he liked it too.
Top notes - Orange Flower, Bergamot
Heart notes - Tuberose, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Gardenia
Base notes - Moss, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Vanilla
From my very first spray of this perfume I fell in love with it and still use it today. My partner buys me a bottle whenever I begin to run low.
My initial thoughts on spraying was that this is a subtle floral and fruity fragrance which quickly develops into the type of woody, musky fragrances I prefer. I would say the Patchouli, Sandalwood and Cedarwood are the notes I can detect the most, with subtle notes of Jasmine being the predominant floral note I detect on my skin. I do have a particular love of Patchouli, not only for perfume but I also love a particular room scenter which has Patchouli as the fragrance.
This fragrance does not remind me of any other perfume I have owned, it really is quite unique.
I would say this fragrance is ideal for everyday wear as it is neither a heavy fragrance nor one I would associate with night time wear. I tend to wear this often for work and find it has good staying power. I can still smell this on my skin a few hours after spraying and have found it is one of only a few fragrances which have that effect on my skin.
Of course perfumes often smell differently and vary from person to person, staying power included. Therefore it is best to try out the samples and testers available in shops and stores before purchasing, if buying a perfume yourself.
I was wearing this recently at work and a colleague commented on it, saying it smelled lovely and also familiar to her. On asking what it was, she commented that she'd been given a bottle of this years ago and had loved it. Smelling it on me prompted her to buy herself a bottle with a gift voucher she had been given and she said she couldn't believe she had forgotten how much she liked it. This prompted a discussion at work about it and indeed the opinion seemed to be that Giorgio Beverley Hills was indeed a 'forgotten' perfume, which I suppose is no surprise when you think just how many different fragrances swamp the market these days.
The design of the bottle and packaging is nothing special with the bottle's classic shape and the yellow striped box looking more classy than contemporary. However the fragrance itself more than makes up for the packaging in my opinion.
Giorgio Beverley Hills can be picked up at quite low prices at various outlets such as Boots, or department stores and fragrance stores. Online, a 30ml Eau de Toilette Spray costs only £11.29 from Cheapsmells.com which is a great website for buying fragrance and one I have used often. Other outlets online which also stock this perfume includes Fragrance Direct ( £14.50 for 50mls) and Amazon (£18.33 for 90mls). Don't forget also if buying online to make your purchases via a cashback site where possible and get a little money back too.
If you enjoy fragrances described as musky, woody, spicy, sensual or oriental with only subtle floral or fruity noted then you will like the fragrance of Giorgio Beverley Hills.
I LOVE this perfume - have used it for years and continue to love it, even though the "perfume police" put it at the top of their hate list. It is everything I want a fragrance to be - warm, sexy, expensive-smelling - and with no subtlety whatsoever! I am an actress - I like attention - and I like to have a distinctive perfume that gets me noticed - so that as soon as people smell Giorgio, they know I'm in the room. It's not for fainthearts!
This fragrance is one of my all time favourites and will remain as such for sometime yet. I am not a snob of designer perfumes (yeah right!!!) but had never tried Giorgio by Giorgio Beverly Hills because of all the American hype that went into it. Last year I was wandering around the fragrance counter and after saying I didnt really want to try any of the Giorgio fragrances a card was wafted under my nose. Immediately my sensitive olfactory organ sent a message to my brain that said something like *Unless you buy this now I will plague you with memories of this delightful scent*. Yes, it was Giorgio of Beverly Hills. After chiding myself for being reticent in not testing it before I decided that I simply had to own it.
Giorgio of BH is described as a floral- orange tuberose and belongs in the same olfactory family as Poeme, Poison, Amarige, Mahora, Tresor , So de la Renta, Beyond Paradise and many others. These fragrances do not smell alike but I do find that if people have a favourite they will often enjoy many others that belong to the same olfactive family.
Perfumes unfold in a series of notes and Giorgio unfolds in the following way
Top Note (20 mins)
Orange Blossom, Peach and Apricot
Middle Note (20-60 mins)
Ylang-Ylang, Tuberose, Gardenia and Jasmine
Base Note (1-4 hrs)
Sandal, Patchouli and Vanilla
I have read somewhere that when the fragrance was first released it was banned from some restaurants as the scent was so intoxicating that it detracted from the aroma of food (I dont know how true this is). It is definitely a fragrance to be worn by a woman who does not mind being noticed. I myself find that even though I love it I do have to be in the right mood (gregarious is good) to wear this. My 15 year old daughter fell in love with it after I purchased it and now shows off her own bottle to her teenage friends, she also uses the body lotion and shower gel and finds that when she uses all three together this scent will stay on her all day.
Here in New Zealand it retails for $178 (94 Euros) for 90mls of the EDT but it can be purchased through Strawberrynet for $75.50 Nz (42.50 Euros).
The bottle is pretty simple in design and nothing to rave about but then I own some very unusually shaped ones and I have to say the simple design makes it easy to spray. Both my daughter and I find that when it is sprayed a lot of perfume is released; this could explain why the fragrance lasts so long on the skin.
