*Introduction*

I love perfumes. But more than that I love Givenchy perfumes. Absolutely adore them. Givenchy Very Irresistible and Givenchy Ange ou Demon are easily two of the best perfumes that I have used. So I opted to try Givenchy Amarige to see if it lived up to the other brands scents.

*The Claim*

Amarige Givenchy is a warm hearted, radiant and wonderfully feminine fragrance that is a celebration of love. Amarige is the universal expression of a woman radiating happiness, zest for life and generosity.

*About the Product (What the Brand Has To Say)*

Givenchy Amarige is a radiant perfume composed of a marvellous bouquet of white flowers. Amarige opens with top notes of Tangerine, Violet and Rosewood. The the heart notes bloom at the centre, creating a pure floral with sweet, delicate notes of Gardenia, the merest hint of a bouquet of fresh Mimosa, red fruits and the warm, heady flowers of Ylang Ylang. The bouquet finishes with the vibrant and muted, yet extremely sensual notes of Ambergris, precious woods, Musk and Vanilla.

*Price and Availability*

Givenchy Amarige Eau de Toilette can be bought from a variety of different shops including Debenhams, Boots, The Perfume Shop and House of Fraser. It is also available to buy online from www.boots.com if you prefer to buy perfume online but my advice is to smell it first in a shop.

You can buy this perfume in 2 different size bottles. The prices for these average at around:
- 30ml bottle: £32
- 100ml bottle: £60
I admit, these are pretty expensive prices. There's no way I can even deny that but as if it is a smell that you like and one which lasts quite a long time, it doesn't make you feel quite so guilty about having paid so much/

*My Opinion*

The packaging: The bottle shape is upright and shaped a bit like a petal although a little more rounded. It is also quite thick. The colour of the glass is a tinted orange colour and on the front is a frosted part but you can also see the amount of perfume in the bottle all of the time. On the simple bottle is a rather cute looking a shell-like in appearance, gold lid which pulls easily on and off of the bottle. The style of this packaging is elegant and sophisticated whilst also be rather simple.

The smell: Floral, woody and feminine are all words that describe this perfume perfectly. It is a very strong scent which after a while settles down and gives you a surprisingly pleasant smell. Givenchy Amarige has a slightly oriental and spicy scent initially however when the scent settles it is a warmer, floral aroma.

For me, the tangerine smell in the perfume is the most dominant followed by the violet which is why I describe the aroma as being floral. The brand states that there finish of vanilla and musk and this is evident to me however a lot more subtle.

Considering the fact that the fragrance is an Eau de Toliette, the lesser between Toilettes and Parfums, I was actually quite surprised at the potency and power of the smell with such a small amount of perfume sprayed. Is it a perfume best for day or night? Usually I find that perfume sits more in one category than another but this really isn't the case for Givenchy Amarige. I think that it is perfect for both day and night wear.

Staying power: As the perfume is quite strong its staying power is superb. When sprayed it lasts strongly for at least 7 or 8 hours but fades unavoidably towards the end of the day.

How many squirts of the perfume are required? Two squirts of Givenchy Amarige should last you the whole day. One on your neck and the other on your wrist. Towards the end of the day it inevitably does fade but if you carry the bottle with you another quick spray will have it smelling as though it has just had another few squirts applied. I would strong advise against spraying any more than 3 squirts as it is a very strong smell and you are running the danger of not only may it give you a slight headache but it will be overpowering for those around you also.

Longevity of the product: I have a 30ml bottle of this perfume. I am always alternating the perfumes that I have as I own quite a lot. I would guess that if used on a daily basis, this perfume would last about 5-6 months depending on the number of squirts. That's not so bad, I think you'll agree.

*Would I Recommend This Perfume?*

Givenchy Amarige Eau de Toilette is a perfume that I would definitely recommend however it certainly won't be to everyone's taste. I think it is perfect for the sophisticated and classy lady and unlike some perfumes which are better suited to older or younger women, this perfume is perfect for both. If you are a fan of floral, oriental or musky smells then this perfume will suit you certainly as it has a hint of each of these smells.

And if you like the smell of this perfume, there are also a number of different body lotions and bath veils that you can buy as well as Givenchy Amarige Eau de Parfum. The perfect, although slightly expensive perfume for that special lady in your life be it your girlfriend, sister or mum!

*Overall*

I had very high expectations for this perfume due to the brand and it lived up to them fully. Everything from the smell to the packaging is sophisticated and classy. Overall, I would say that I do like this product but it isn't quite as nice as the two other Givenchy perfumes that I have. It is a very distinct smelling perfume with its warm floral scent and one that I am quite taken with. I think this perfume is perfect for autumn and winter as it has a nice floral, affectionate aroma.
