This after shave is elegant and classy with a strong musty smell that is very masculine. It is not for everyone but perfect for someone who likes an earthy rich smell.
This after shave is perfect for a slightly older gentleman as it is quite a grown up sophistocated smell that suits this age group better.
The design is good and quite bold and just like the fragrance classical, elegant and classy with a strong look that mirrors the mascalinity of the smell.
WHERE TO WARE
Could be worn at anything work, for a meal, for a drink as its smell is very professional and appropriate for all occasions.
Buy if you like a smell that is strong, sofisticated and mature. I really like the smell and think it is great but might be too musty for some as it is quite a heavy smell that does not suit everyone.
I first started using Givenchy pour Homme when my mother bought me a gift set from duty free on the way back from Russia about five years ago - since then I have always had a bottle of it, and most recently bought a bottle at Duty Free in Heathrow - for the knockdown price of GBP 29.99 - which for 100ml of EDT is not bad, and considerably less than I would have paid on the high street here in Vienna - although granted the stricken state of sterling helps in that respect.
As well as the EdT I have also been a regular user of the matching antiperspirant stick, which I usually pick up for around EUR 18 and have also had the deodorant spray, which costs a similar price. There is also a smaller sized bottle (30ml) available although this is not so easy to find in duty free.
The product description states that it is a citrusy, fresh scent, which I would agree with - people who wear Carolina Herrera Herrera for Men, XS by Paco Rabanne or Issey Miyake for Men will all quite identify with the scent, which on a sliding scale I would put as stronger than XS, about the same as Issey Miyake but not as strong as Carolina Herrera - Herrera for Men.
With regard to it being a scent "designed for gentlemen aged twenty five years and older" this is definitely a grown-up man's fragrance - I would say that to say it is an over 25s fragrance is a good description - it has more depth than some of the "teeny" fragrances - a more serious air and scent, and is not a scent I wear everyday. It also has several layers of fragrance - from the citrusy top notes, through to its cedar base. A number of female friends have enquired what fragrance I was wearing - in a positive way because they have liked the scent, which is always a good sign.
The packaging is simple and elegant - a cuboid box in the same browny purple shade as the bottle, with clear white lettering and the Givenchy logo in silver. The bottle inside is a simply but stylish design, with the atomiser built into the top plastic sheath that is on top of the bottle - the atomiser spray being operated by a countersunk button on the top and back side of the bottle in silver - as is the area around the spray. The bottle fits well into your hand, without the feeling that it could slip out of it and is elegant while remaining simple.
To summarise, Givenchy pour Homme is a classic fragrance - one that stands the test of time rather than being in fashion for a brief period before disappearing. It has been around for a while and is unlikely to disappear for a while either.
This citrusy, fresh scent, designed for gentlemen twenty five years and older, begins on a top note of grapefruit, tangerine, coriander and dedion. It has middle notes of essence of davana and vetiver drying down to a base of cedar and olibanum.
