Takes me out of the everyday world

I am feeling very French tonight as I sit here writing this review with the heady scent of Ysatis swirling around ,if only my key board did accents!

Ysatis is an impressive scent by the French firm Givency. My friends know that I am on a hunt for my perfect perfume and so about a month ago I was given a bottle of Ysatis to try . It has had a good few outings in that month and to avoid my novice nose being influenced I don´t read any reviews until it has had a good try.

Develped in 1984 by Domonique Ropion it is in my opinion not a scent for the faint hearted as indicated by the packaging ,a rectangular box in deep purple with gold purple and pink detail on each edge.
The glass bottle itself is fairly understatesd resembling to me a New York sky scraper with ridges at the front and back and a sort of Darth Vadar hat on top!

Givency say that it is a perfume of power and seduction, sensual mysterious and alluring. Wel lit´s got it´s work cut out with me as I am about as mysterious as a bowl of cornflakes! It certainly packs a punch though,as I spray it on the top notes of citrus come through quite clearly to me. Also in there are ylang ylang ,galbanum ,coconut and rosewood and aldehyde swirling around.

Two or three hours later and out come the heart notes of Jasmine, rose tuberose and narcissus followed later by the base notes of musk ,amber ,vanilla vetiver ,patchouli ,sandalwood and civet.

I find after about 6hours of wearing it that I prefer the topnotes to the base but perhaps that changes with experience. To me it is certainly a luxurious evening perfume, conjuring up visions of ball rooms and beautiful gowns, champagne and diamonds, a far cry from oridinary life, but I think perhaps that is the purpose of perfume to make you feel special and out of the ordinary . This perfume certainly works it´s magic on me so you must excuse me now as the Ambassador is waiting for me to open the Gala Ball by dancing with him!

      ** Givenchy Ysatis **

In 1927 the designer of this fragrance is born. When he had learned enough, he borrowed a sum of money to start a fashion house. In 1957 he took the headlines with his first fragrance to link this with the familiar face of Audrey Hepburn. This was a huge success.

I smell like a flower-like something warm scent which I find very pleasant. Perhaps this is also because this fragrance is quite soft and not really overpowering. It's something that suits me too I guess because I don't like to always be the center of attention. It is a fragrance that is not overpowering but is a full scent that will stay with you during the day. This floral scent I can not even describe as sweet, I find it rather something sour smell. It has aromas of mandarin, jasmine, rose, iris, orange blossom, vanilla, cloves, along with some oriental woods that makes fragrance also a bit fresh.

I personally think this is a real leisure fragrance. I think for a evening fragrance, I think he's a little bit too soft. With so many ingredients it's sometimes difficult to recognize what really stands out but I think it's more the mandarin that you can notice with a bite of jasmine for the more sweeter scent. It's definitely a soft scent and you can notice lightly during the day.

It comes in a 50 milliliter bottle, focusing on women who represents luxury and elegance, according to the brand. I think it's a nice glass bottle with something chic and also more playful look. The spray gives you the right amount when you spray it.

I wear it occasionally, like the rest of my bottles of perfume though. I think this bottle is not really for special occasions. I think it's more an everyday fragrance. Especially since this perfume is not too intrusive you can use in regular situations. With a price of 35 pounds for 50 ml it's not cheap but also not expensive but worth it.

Thoroughly recommend, I have used this fragrance for years and would not change for another

I am often asked what is that beautiful fragrance you are wearing, and of course I say, it is Ysatis by Givenchy, I live in Australia where the perfume just blends in so well with our warm climate, a great perfume for those summer months, the heat just seems to make the fragrance stand out, plus getting a little warm under the collar as well in the summer months gives you that excuse to spray on a little more during the day, great if your at work and you want to freshen up, I thoroughly recommend Ysatis by Givenchy, I would not use any other perfume, plus the 50ml size bottle is very handy for taking away on holiday or just keeping in your handbag or in a little evening bag and you want to go and powder your nose in the ladies, a little more fragrance never goes astray.

        My favourite

The name givenchy is one that inspires, with tones or class, and style.
The scent arm of givenchy was created in 1957, created by Hubert de Givenchy, and aided as a style icon, by Audrey Hepburn. He had established the fashion size of the business in 1952, and his designs were worn by the rich and famous. Jackie Kennedy wore a givenchy outfit to her husbands funeral.

Ysatis was first produced in 1985, and was described then as a
"feminine scent, with woody, oriental tones"

Its main fragrance bases are: Mandarin, oakmoss, rose, iris, vanilla, clove and amber.

The eau de toilette comes in 4 sizes
        25mls- around £25.00
        30mls- around £30.00
        50mls- around £40.00
        100mls- around £55.00

Also available is a body veil cream at about £22.00 for 200mls,
deodrant- 100g for 19.00, and bath gel 200mls for £18.00.

It is often cheaper to buy a gift set with all 3/4 in.

        What do I think?:

Fantastic perfume rates as my number one. Bought it first many years ago and now always have a bottle to hand.

My husband also agrees that it is the fragrance of choice.

It is a rich musky smell that lingers well and seems to last forever on you, esp if used in combination with the bath foam and body veil.
It is definately an evening perfume, too much for general daytime use, but I also think it always smells best, when wearing it in a warm climate.
Those subtle blends seem to be enhanced by heat, so great as a holiday perfume.
I would think generally suited to slightly older buyers, not one for the teens, but mid twenties upwards.
I think the bottle is a bit of a let down, really rather plain. The pleasure of perfume is also in the bottle, not just the scent, so come one Givenchy pep up the bottle.

So if you like those woody, musky scents, this is a great choice.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

My first encounter with Ysatis During college, I had a girl in my study group who wore this perfume day in day out. It so captivated me to the point of not being able to concentrate on the work to be done. Reason being not because it stank but because it smelled so good. Downside to it though, was that she obviously did not know how much to spray of the stuff and it got out of hand. Daily. Not discouraged by the lack of measure this girl employed, I asked the name of the perfume. She could not pronounce it, but showed me the box. I too had to write down the name, since prononciation left a lot to be desired, which is why I included the prononciation in this review. The aroma Givenchy Perfumes introduced Ysatis (pronounced ?ee-sah-tees?) in 1985. Dominique Ropion mixed the fragrance for Givenchy. It is a floral fragrance, with a hint of exotic. Semi-oriental accords have been used and intermingle in the top, middle and base note. The ingredients predominantly used are: 1. Top notes: mandarin, bergamot, ylang-ylang, galbanum, orange blossom, coconut, rosewood, greens, and aldehydes. 2. Middle notes: rose, jasmine, polianthes, iris, tuberose, ylang-ylang, carnation, narcissus. 3. End notes: bay rum, vetiver, patchouli, oak moss, sandalwood, clove, vanilla, amber, musk, honey, civet, and castoreum. I assume a little explanation is required: each perfume is composed of a so-called top note (notes of the head), which is the volatile, refreshing odour you receive immediately upon taking a whiff of the perfume. Milder notes, called notes of the heart or middle notes provide the body or character of the perfume, whereas the note of depth (also known as basic or end note), is the persistent smell that surfaces after a good 10-15 minutes. Perfumes are classified consistent with one or more particular prevailing scents. The floral collection blends such odors as jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, and gardenia. The spicy blends feature such
aromas as ca rnation, clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The woody group is distinguished by such odors as vetiver, sandalwood, and cedar wood. An aroma of oak moss dominates the mossy family. The group known as the Orientals combines woody, mossy, and spicy notes with such sweet aromas as vanilla or balsam and is typically accentuated by such animal odors as musk or civet. The herbal group is portrayed by such smells as clover and sweet grass. The leather-tobacco group features the aromas of leather, tobacco, and the smokiness of birch tar. Aldehydic scents are dominated by odors of aldehydes, usually having a fruity character. Fragrances designed for men are generally classified as citrus, spice, leather, lavender, fern, or woody. The package Pierre Dinand was inspired by the Art Deco style when designing the bottle. It is shaped like a skyscraper of that period. It reminds me of the Empire State Building in New York. The flask is made of clear glass, with a golden ?roof? as bottle cap. As for the box, I don?t know who the designer is but the chief color is purple (deep, dark) with a bias of yellow and fuchsia. The name Ysatis is written in gold. Wear when? Ysatis, due to its warm, floral scent, is suitable for casual and daywear. Yet, the woody basic notes gives this perfume the ideal character for evenings and special occasions as well. I would recommend teenagers to stay away from this fragrance. The body of the perfume makes this scent rich, a no-no for young, fresh ladies. I recommend you do not buy the full range of Ysatis products, the perfume EDT is sufficient. This rich scent tends to smell overwhelming when used in combination with a shower gel or body lotion. The body lotion has a slightly different smell, but that could be purely subjective. Price As you may well know price depends on whether you buy parfum, eau de parfum or eau de toilette or other. EDT 25 ml: £ 26,75 EDT 50 ml: £ 38,00 EDT 100
ml: £ 52,00 The difference in price depends on the level of perfume-oils concentration: perfume (30%); eau de perfume (15%); eau de toilette (8%); cologne (5%); and cologne splash (3%). As far as I know Ysatis can only be bought in eau de toilette and not in eau de parfum or parfum. I assume t hat is because the scent is very rich, so the eau de toilette would suffice. Other Ysatis products For those of you who wish to have more than perfume? there is: Givenchy Ysatis Delicate Bath Gel 200 ml ? about £ 16,00 Givenchy Ysatis Generous Body Cream 200 ml ? about £ 35,00 Givenchy Ysatis Perfumed Deodorant Spray 100 ml -- £ 19,00 Givenchy Ysatis Silk Body Veil 200 ml -- about £ 19,00 Givenchy Ysatis Exfoliating Gel -- £ 9,95

I have been using Ysatis for a few years now and I never tire of it. It’s always a good standby when anyone asks ‘What can I get you for Christmas?’ anyway! It is made by Givenchy of Paris and comes in a neat, ridged, clear glass bottle with a ridged gold coloured lid with an angled top. The bottle is inside a smart black box, in a word it looks classy. It has a light and refreshing fragrance so you can wear it anytime, anywhere. It is also suitable for all ages – my sister aged 35, my mother aged 73, and myself aged 46 all like it. I would describe it as a medium range perfume when it comes to the cost being about £17 for a 45ml spray. It is available in most of the major stores such as Boots, Debenhams etc and can also be purchased at some of the supermarkets that now sell the more expensive perfumes at more reasonable prices. I have also purchased it via my catalogue too. (I run an agency for Empire Stores) I first discovered Ysatis when I used to subscribe to a firm who sent out packages of random toiletries each month for me to try and I have loved it ever since. The only real disappointment as far as I am concerned is that there is not a range of matching toiletries such as bubble bath, talcum powder and body lotion. Now that really would be luxury! By the way – if anyone does know where I could get any matching toiletries do let me know won’t you? The only problem I have with Ysatis is how DO you pronounce it? Actually I have just thought of another problem – I really can’t think of anything else to say about it so this is an extremely short opinion for me!

ysatis is a perfume which has been around for a good few years now, but I think its one of those signature perfumes which a woman keeps through the years and which becomes a classic. I used to wear this perfume first when dating my (now) husband. It's a rich scent, but still quite mysterious, and certainly something which is strong enough to be worn at night and just be sensed across the table at a restaurant, but not to overpower. It's kind of become a signature between us and whilst I may wear something lighter if going out during the day, I still think of jazz bars and continental nights out whenever I catch a scent of this very individual scent.
