Personally my favourite evening fragrance. A strong yet sweet smell. Perfect for weddings and parties as well as corporate event. The scent suggests sophistication and class. A couple of sprays of this perfume will last smelling fresh for the whole day and evening. This means that despite it being one of the more expensive perfumes, it is actually great value for money as one bottle will last a long time.
I love this perfume and am really disappointed that for the money it costs they have been unable to make the scent last...
It's a sexy and seductive smelling perfume which my boyfriend loves but it's not cheap and for the money you have to pay to get hold of this I would expect it to last much longer than it does.
After an hour or so the scent has gone and even when you smell your wrist where you had sprayed its really faint.
If they could fix this one area this would be one of my top 3 favourite scents.
All the other Gucci perfume I have smelt have been too heady and heavy so I find it surprising that they have gone so far the other way.
If this area is improved it would be a great perfume, nicely presented, elegant and sexy it ticks all other boxes.
At the top end price wise for a designer perfume, £44.00 for 50ml is this frgrance worth that little bit extra?
Well the bottle is clear and bold, rectangular in shape with a rectangular gold lid and cute Gucci charm. It comes in a golden box with a stripe through the middle, simple but elegant. And it screams elegant, sophisticated and designer and is all strong, independant woman something that follows through in the smell. A fragrance that is both golden in colour and smell, it smells tastey and sweet, yet is classy, femenine and delicate. Theres a definite floral tone in there mixed with a sexy muskiness too. If this perfume was a dress, it would be long, silky and floor length in a pale gold colour, finished off with a white furry stole. It works as both a daytime and evening smell and just when you forget how yummy you smell, you get a fresh whiff that reminds you!
Its definitely worth the extra few quid and is addictive!
This is a review of the perfume Gucci by gucci. I'm on my second bottle now so thought it was time for a review!
***Makes a nice gift ***********
To be honest, the first bottle was a gift and has lasted me ages. That's usually a sign that I'm not a massive fan when it lasts ages as I'm not using it quick enough! I do like it but would say it's not my favourite. A little bit goes a long way so maybe that's also why it has lasted.
***Mine's a bit leaky****
The first bottle was from Debenhams and I have kept it on a glass shelf in my bathroom. It now sits on a piece of toilet paper as I noticed it was leaking on the shelf. Not very good Gucci! It was too long after purchase to take it back to Debenhams though.
***Why I've got two bottles of this*******
My Sister in Law helpfully mentioned it to Mother in Law who was thinking of presents to buy for Christmas. She had seen it on the shelf when she visited.
***What does it smell like?*****
So I am now the proud owner of two bottles and a body lotion! I think it smells quite nice, if not a little heavy and I'd say it's quite a musky and wintery perfume. To combat this, I spritz in the air and walk into it so that you get a waft rather than an intense perfumey smell on you .
The packaging is a dark brown glass and cute charm attached to the neck of the bottle which is square.
**Not good for 'on the go'*****
I wouldn't risk taking this bottle on the move with me due to the mysterious slow leak it has. I'm sure not all bottles are leaky but the chunky glass also makes it quite heavy. It lasts quite a long time though so you don't need to refresh it that often.
*****If you like....**********
I mentioned earlier that I find this to be a winter fragrance. If you like Hugo Boss' Deep Red then I'd say you would quite likely like this one too.
****Why I'm a Man magnet (I wish!)********
I wore this recently and my husband commented - unprompted - that he liked the smell of it so it's obviously a fragrance that appeals to (some?) men.
It's not a cheap perfume, at £50 for 50ml at Boots you'd have to like it to splash out this much. As mine were gifts I was quite fortunate on this front.
I was given this perfume as a gift and I have to say that I probably would not buy this myself if I was looking for a new scent.
Beginning with the packaging, the bottle is very 'Gucci'in it's style - quite bold and gold, attractive but with an element of bling! It looks expensive and looks good on display.
As for the actual aroma, the biggest drawback for me is the heaviness of this perfume. I personally prefer slightly lighter or fresher fragrances and this is definitely a heavy 'winter' perfume. I wore this one day in the summer, as I was bought it in May, and I felt it was just too heavy and strong, It's also quite fruity and the patchouli is overpowering. However, having said that, it does lighten up more during the day and becomes much more pleasant. I found that a couple of hours after spraying it I began to like it more. I would definitely be cautious with applying though and make sure you don't over-spritz.
This perfume is my ultimate favourite! It looks super cute yet grown up with the little gold chain detail. It even comes in lovely quality packaging which protected the perfume through a rough airport ride.
The lid is really quite heavy as it is weighted, clearly not pure gold but still a lovely touch. It doesn't tarnish easily and has been sat in my bathroom for quite a while now and so has faced quite a lot of exposure to moisture.
The fragrance itself is a lovely and strong for the day or evening as it lasts for a long time (although be careful not to use too much or I found it made me sneeze!). It smells much better after 5-10 minutes, i.e. after it's had time to settle and by the end of a night out it was still going 'strong' (well quite a bit weaker but still there!).
Overall a lovely and well design bottle with a day or evening fragrance inside.
I love the smell, the high-quality feel, and the bottle for this perfume, but it's too heavy to wear too often, or if you're in a delicate mood at all as it could end up giving you a bit of a headache.
********** The Bottle **********
I don't always think it's necessary to go into massive detail about the bottle a perfume comes in (that's only my opinion by the way) but this bottle is quite special and one of my favourite perfume bottles.
The glass is very thick and it's got quite a heavy feel to it which makes it feel quite special and like a good quality product for some reason. I guess the bad part of that is that there isn't as much perfume in it as it first seems, because the glass it taking up a lot of the space.
In terms of decoration, it's a clear bottle with just a couple of frosted strips down the middle. The name - Gucci by Gucci, is written in very small subtle letters on the bottom of the glass which I like. The bottle top is a gold colour, and the best part of the bottle is the little trinket attached to the top which jingles around a bit when you move the bottle around.
********** The Smell **********
It is described as a chypre floral fragrance with a top note of guava and pear, a heart note of tahitian tiare flower and base notes of patchouli, musk, and honey.
So what does this mean in terms of how it actually smells?
It's a very rich, quite heavy smell. It sounds strange but it does have an expensive, good quality smell to it. There's a small element of the old-fashioned perfume smell to it but also a very unique, slightly musky smell alongside this.
While I do love the smell, I'm trying to be realistic and accept that it's too strong for me to wear. When I wear it I normally end up getting a headache (like I do with Flowerbomb by Viktor Rolf or the original Poison). At first it smells absolutely lovely and I'd love to be able to wear it myself, but ultimately I think I will just have to enjoy the smell on other people who can get away with wearing more heavy perfumes. I have to stick to softer perfumes such as Pure Poison and my favourite - Issey Myake. Hmmm, I wonder if I can pass off 3/4 bottle of Gucci by Gucci as a Christmas present....only joking.
********** The Price **********
£43 for 50ml, available at most department stores and off the internet.
If you love Gucci perfumes, you'll love this one too.
The Gucci by Gucci Eau de Parfum has a similar 'base' scent as the original Gucci Eau de Parfum (2002 launch) but with sweeter and lighter notes.
Whilst I tend to wear the original for nights out and winter months, the Gucci By Gucci is perfect for spring/summer days as it has a fresher feel.
The bottle also echoes the differences between the two fragrances. The Gucci By Gucci has the same rich, dark chocolatey brown bottle as the original but with subtle vertical ribbon-stripes (these are not just printed onto the glass - Gucci have cast these bottles with the stripes themselves incorporated with translucent finish) and a lovely dainty gold chain with charm attached to the neck of the bottle. As with all Gucci perfumes these bottles are chunky yet elegant and are the perfect, sophisticated addition to any bathroom display/dressing cabinet.
this product is great for wear at nightime to wear somwhere special for someone special. it makes a woman feel sexy and luxurious as it has a strong and in you face scent. The scent has some light, fruity topnotes that are enjoyable but i would never choose to wear this scent to work as it is too powerful, i prefer a scent like floral by gucci for everyday wear. the bottle which it is presented in is a beautiful brown glass square with a gold rectangle lid with a chai hanging sown the side, a very stylish touch to a beautifull perfume. i would highly recommend this sent to my friends and also buy another one when mine is finally all gone. the quality of this perfume is set to the high standards that we all have of gucci and boy do have they achieved high quality. excellant perfume
To be honest the David Lynch advert sold me! I loved the Blondie sountrack and some of my favourite models dancing around in gold. One of the best things is the bottle- thick, heavy, luxurious. The attached trinket is even better. This isn't a scent you could wear daily, and isn't one I would 'adopt' as a signature as it is very distinctive and rich. It's great for people who don't like fruity or floral scents as it's hard to come across one like Gucci by Gucci, it's got very deep undertones, it smells like honey and vanilla to me. It can be quite musky, definitely a mature scent, something to make a statement in rather than sweeten opinions. The smell changes throughout the day and by the end the flowers and lemon scents come through, but it's a little too sharp for my taste. Definitely worth thesting throughout the day rather than on a sample tester card.
Once again Gucci perfumes have done it again and produced an irresistible, high quality perfume suitable for most ages and most ocassions!
Let's start with the bottle. The Eau de Parfum is in a deep brown colour bottle that looks very sophisticated, whereas the Eau de Toilette is a frosted clear bottle in the same design. Both feature a gorgeous little gold bit and Gucci tage, making it look more expensive than it actually is!
This perfume is available in both 30ml and 50ml bottles, and a little goes a long way. The fragrance is very long lasting, even with the Eau de Toilette, meaning that you get value for money. My 30ml EDT has lasted since October and I've only used about 1/8 of the product- not bad for £35.
The fragrance itself is very subtle and, much like the bottle, very sophisticated. It's very hard to describe exactly what it smells of but it is a perfect balance making it suitable for evening and daywear. It is quite a powdery, almost floral scent and has the ability to make any outfit feel luxurious and expensive.
This is a definite must for any Gucci girl and is a worthwhile investment for those who like understated sophistication.
Gucci - the highest, most prestigious designer brand in the fashion industry.
The quality that comes with the brand is one that cannot be compromised.
This fragrance is exactly to the standards we all expect.
Prior to this fragrance, we have seen Gucci deliver some of the most distinctive perfumes on the market, ranging from the warm winter fragrance of Gucci Rush to the summer scent of Gucci Envy me 2.
This newest fragrance, Gucci by Gucci, was first purchased by myself when it first became available, exclusive to Harrods in October 2007, retailing at £64 for 50ml.
Now it is available nationwide and storewide and retails at approx £48 for 50ml.
The quality is noticeable in the packaging, in a gold and brown box with metallic gucci writing.
The bottle is a gold and brown bottle with a gucci horsebit hanging on it with the gucci name on the tag.
The scent is a noticable, dark, rich smell with honey undertones. It is long lasting, classy, sexy and for the woman who appreciates quality and the rich things in life.
This is the best perfume i have bought, it is a sweet fragrance and i would definately buy this over and over again.
Gucci is the biggest-selling Italian brand in the world and is well renowned for its stylish leather goods. Gucci also specialise in fragrances. The Gucci Company was first established in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. Since this date they have been made famous for releasing the latest fashion at the highest prices. Gucci even claimed a spot in the Guiness Book of world record for the most expensive jeans ever, on sale for over $3,000.
Prior to this fragrance they have released such perfumes as Envy, Rush, Gucci 2, Pour Homme and all the sequel fragrances to these. I recently purchased this fragrance for as a birthday gift for my girlfriend. Depending on the size prices are usually around the £50 mark (50ml), which is quite reasonable for Gucci's price standards. Other sizes come as 30ml or 75ml. After testing out several different fragrances for women I settled on the 'Gucci' fragrance. You straight away notice the very strong but sweet aroma of this fragrance, which stayed with me all day. There is a very feminine essence to this fragrance and would seem suitable for the modern classy woman. It is a very fruity flavour with the essence of honey. Whilst the scent is very overpowering at first, it settles down and is bound to grow on you. This also means the fragrance will linger all day. Although the perfume's packaging is not as stylish as many fragrances in the past it does have a very sophisticated and elegant appearance.
You are bound not to be disappointed with this perfume unless fruity aromas are not for you. This fragrance makes a great gift for a partner's birthday or valentines.
Gucci was founded all the way back in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. The House of Gucci is one of the world's most famous Italian fashion brands, along with Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Valentino and Versace. Gucci is probably most famous for their handbags (the famous G, brown pattern) and clothes. Gucci has launched numerous other perfumes for both men and women, Envy, Rush, Gucci Eau de Parfum, Envy Me, and Envy Me 2. Gucci by Gucci was released in mid 2007.
I came across Gucci by Gucci on a trip to John Lewis where I was trying every perfume I could see! I sprayed a generous amount of the perfume onto my wrist and I could smell it before I put my wrist near my face! It was so overpowering it was very off putting, and I was out the store in a few seconds. It was a nice smell, but just much too overpowering. I got used to the smell after a while, and eventually I thought, "This is actually quite nice!". I bought it a few weeks later. The fragrance includes the following notes; guava, raspberry, pear, chamomile, Tahitian Tiare flower, orange blossom, spider lily, patchouli, honey and musk. The strong, overpowering notes are definitely patchouli and Tiare, as well as the fruity notes, pear and guava, with also the tiniest hint of zesty orange. However, these two notes don't make the perfume a flowery or fruity scent, a muskier, woody scent. This makes it a sophisticated, elegant, feminine fragrance. If the scent wasn't so strong, this would be my favourite perfume by far. This is definitely not for the faint-hearted. A friend tried this too, and it smelt more flowery on her, so I suppose it depends on your skin type to how the scent comes out. Some people prefer stronger scents so it all depends on personal preference. I'd recommend trying this at a local perfume store before you buy, you could end up hating it! I'd say this fragrance is best for autumn or winter, chilly days, but maybe also long summer nights.
The bottle is attractive and has an elegant feel to it. The bottle is quite large; you can only get 50ml or 75ml bottles. It is a square, glass bottle which is transparent so you can see the perfume which is a dark, brown colour. The lid is a rectangle shape and gold. If you pull it off you will find a gold sprayer which will squirt out a generous amount of perfume when it is pressed. There is a small, gold circle charm, which has Gucci engraved onto it. A gold clasp also hangs from the lid. At the bottom left, Gucci is printed onto the bottle in gold, with by Gucci printed underneath it. On the bottle there are two thick, translucent lines running down it. As I said the bottle has an elegant and a real Gucci feel to it. The box is pretty much the same, brown with two greyer brown thick lines running down it with a gold line in the middle of it. Eau de Parfum, Vaporisateur, Natural Spray and the size of perfume in imprinted on the bottom right of the box. Again, Gucci is printed in gold at the bottom left with By Gucci underneath it.
Price and Availability
Currently, Gucci by Gucci is availible in three sizes, 30ml, 50ml and 75ml. 30ml RRPs for £35 and can't be found much cheaper, the 50ml spray is RRP £49, though it can be bought a few pounds cheaper at around £45, and the 75ml is RRP £62, sold for around £60 in high street shops. Gucci can be found in any good perfume shop at these prices, and you won't be able to miss it with its individual packaging.
There are quite a few other Gucci by Gucci products. There is a 200ml Gucci by Gucci Shower Gel, and a 200ml Gucci by Gucci Body Lotion. If Gucci by Gucci doesn't appeal to you but you think you quite like the sound of the notes, there is an Eau de Toilette version of Gucci by Gucci available, again available in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml. I have only smelt this in John Lewis on the Gucci cosmetics counter, but it is a much lighter, warmer, creamier scent than Gucci by Gucci Eau de Parfum. Personally, I prefer the Eau de Parfum, but if you prefer warmer, lighter scents, then it will definitely be for you. It is sold for a few pounds cheaper too, so I would highly recommend this perfume.
- Verdict -
Gucci by Gucci (back to talking about Eau de Parfum!) is a lovely scent but it certainly isn't for everyone. If you try this and automatically think yuck, much too strong, give it a chance and after it has calmed, you might start to love it! If you're buying for someone else, I would definitely check first (with a sample) that that person likes it. Gucci by Gucci is a love or hate perfume!
Perfume water named simply Gucci by Gucci; is planned to be the main fragrance for women by this company / The perfume was announced as a floral chypre, with a fruity opening of exotic guava, beautiful Haitian Tiare flower in the heart, and patchouli, musk and honey in the base / Fragrances notes: chamomile, Tahitian Tiare flower, guava, raspberry, pear, spider lily, patchouli, honey, musk, orange blossom / The winning combination of fruity top notes with honey, patchouli and musk will ensure this remains an enduring classic.
