I was given this perfume as a birthday present, probably to shut me up after I tested it in a shop and couldn't stop raving about it. The perfume comes in an attractive glass bottle with gold coloured plastic casing and lid. There is a nice weight to it and it looks and feels good quality. The glass allows you to see how much you've used so you can run out and buy more when you're getting low, because you will definitely want more. Unfortunately my bottle is looking slightly less than perfect due to my rather rough handling and chucking it in with all my makeup when travelling between uni and home. For this reason there is one small area where the gold colouring has rubbed off a little. The mess wipes off easily though and there are no scratches and the glass has managed to withstand my use and being dropped on a tiled floor by a six year old. The scent itself is, as you might expect, quite intense, sophisticated and sensual, therefore it is not a perfume I wear everyday but I save it for special occasions and evenings out. If it is an everyday perfume you are looking for, the original Gucci Guilty eau de toilette is a less intense alternative. It is a warm, floral fragrance which can be worn all year round. It smells nice in the bottle but even better when it has reacted with the skin. This is an alluring scent which is very popular and I often get complimented on it, and several friends of mine have bought it for themselves since I started wearing it. I find that this perfume lasts well and there is no need to reapply. It also tends to linger on clothes and bed sheets. his is not a cheap perfume but you need to spend money to get quality, and the price is comparable with other big designer brands. If you haven't tried it yet you need to head somewhere like Debenhams or John Lewis to try it out because it is likely to become your new favourite, as it is mine. I will definitely be requesting another bottle when this one runs out.
***WHY GUCCI GUILTY*** At Gucci, they say this fragrance has been inspired by "contemporary rebels" and the Creative Director, Frida Giannini created it as a "daring fragrance for modern trend setters". On their official website they describe a stereotypical Gucci Guilty girl as a "21st century beauty, faithful t her roots but ready to take on the future". So the use of the word faithful doesn't imply the fragrance is named "Guilty" for any weird, or bad reasons. The "guilty" naming part comes more from Giannini's idea of the protagonist being "young, sexy and slightly dangerous..she makes things happen herself". Let's explore more into this "scent of defiance" as put by Giannini. ***HOW I ENDED UP BUYING IT*** The product I am reviewing is the "Intense Eau de Parfum" which more of strong perfume, requiring less amount to be applied. The other option is a eau de toillette sprary you can carry around in your handbag and keep reapplying as it is not as strong. Although I had not actually tried this as a sample before purchasing I was happy to take a risk because I didn't think I could go wrong with Gucci! Especially after reading so many positive reviews about it. I wanted something the name suggests: Guilty - i.e a dark kind of mysterious fragrance and the fact it is fantastic brand, as soon as I saw the advert it made me want to buy it! ***MY EXPERIENCE**** First of all, I was really surprised with the scent. It's actually a very floral kind of fragrance rather than something dark, sexy and sultry. It should be promoted in more of a floral, cute, summery smell- but that would defy what the creator wanted it to be. But yeah, there is also a guy's version available. Its expensive so I strongly recommend trying a sample before you buy it in case the smell is different to what you expected. ***WHAT IS IT*** The packaging, design and aesthetics are impeccable, the perfume bottle itself is a rounded rectangular t square bottle (depending on which size you get, the bigger ones are longer in shape). You can take off the lid and then push down the dispenser which will spray the perfume. The scent does not last as long as some of my other perfumes unfortunately but I know some guys prefer it when we wear a subtle fragrance than obvious, strong perfume. It's lasted me quite long and I've received compliments wearing it! The gold casing however easily gets covered up in fingerprints so I always wipe them away so it looks pretty on my shelf. The box is quite simple, adorned with a shiny gold glossy Gucci logo on the front of it. Despite the creator implying it is a scent for young, rebellious girls I think it can suit a wide range of ages as my mum even borrows it from time to time. The bottles are available in either 30ml, 50m or 75ml with prices ranging from about £35-45 depending on the size you get. I bought mine from an airport shop for about £50 when it had first come out, but I believe it is now available for £35 online from places like CheapSmells. ***SUMMARY*** I like this scent, I can even wear it in the daytime as a casual smell but it still works for evening wear if you were at a party or something. If there was a reason I cannot give it 5 stars, it has to be because the scent doesn't last as long as I hoped for and I wish they had provided a small dispenser for handbag size to re-apply like they do for the eau de toilette!
Gucci Guilty The house of Gucci have created this 'Guilty' perfume which is available in eau de toillete and eau de parfum, the second being a stronger and more lasting fragrance. Gucci describe this as : "A scent of defiance, the wearer of Gucci Guilty is the architect of her own destiny. This warm yet striking oriental floral scent carries hedonism at its heart, and seizes the attention with a flamboyant opening born of the natural rush that is mandarin, shimmering alongside an audacious scattering of pink pepper. The effect is at once arresting and compellingly seductive." This is a perfume which is distinctive, warm and yet flowery and seductive. It is sweet and floral yet has notes of spiciness hidden in its depths. It is one that I have managed to get a sample of and one that my step daughter wears quite a lot so a fragrance I know well. It is not a cheap scent so one that you might buy every now and then. Frida Gianinni observes: 'What we have created in Gucci Guilty is something hypnotic' and 'The effect is at once arresting and compellingly seductive.' The perfume comes in a rounded square bottle with a silver covering with the G of the Gucci logo in the centre front. The lid makes up the top half of the bottle and once you lift that there is a spray nozzle underneath. The bottle comes in a sleek simple black box with gold Gucci logo central on the front. The notes in this are: top notes of pink pepper and mandarin heart note of lilac, geranium and peach base notes of patchouli and amber I find this is a perfume that I enjoy wearing anytime, night or day and as my step daughter Is under thirty and I am just a bit older I would think it suits a wide range of ages. I am not sure about all the advertising bumph about 'being architect of their own destiny' and being 'arrestingly seductive'. It is for everyday women who want to feel that bit special and smell of something other than cleaning and washing up or baby sick and grubby clothes. It is a small escape that we can all enjoy and a scent that we can sniff and take ourselves somewhere exotic for a short time or just enjoy smelling lovely and feminine for a while. I find this a lovely fragrance, a pretty and delicate feminine fragrance. It is subtle and does hide inner depths. When I first apply this I am aware of the sweet orange scent but the pink pepper is also very much there with its peppery note. The middle notes of lilac, geranium and peach are shortly in evidence as the scent becomes warmer and sweeter but not sweet or sickly. The base notes of patchouli and amber give a depth and heart to the perfume but without ever dominating the sweeter notes. I find this perfume lovely and sensuous but not that long lasting. I also notice that for its price it doesn't have great sillage after the first half hour or so which considering its price I feel it should. I love the scent as it is both warm and quite striking and an unusual oriental floral fragrance but I wishit lasted longer on me than it does. I find I have to add another squirt after about three hours although it does last on my clothes a bit longer. The descriptions of this are far more poetic than I am and I do think they are slightly OTT in their floweriness! "The scent seizes the attention with a flamboyant opening born of the natural rush that is mandarin--imbued with a modish transparency--shimmering alongside an audacious fist of pink pepper. The middle notes are an alluring concoction of heady lilac and geranium, laced with the succulent tactility of peach--all velvet femininity with a beguiling hint of provocation. The patchouli that is the hallmark of Gucci fragrances here conveys a message of strength, while the voluptuousness of amber suggests deep femininity." So there you have it in poetry what this perfume creates but in my humble view it is a lovely quite floral and yet hints of romance and exotic lands but I just wish it lasted a bit longer. The prices for this as always with perfumes vary considerable but it is never cheap. Prices on Amazon for the EDT are 30ml for £33.66, 50ml will cost £41.36 while 75ml strangely is £43.48 so the best value of all. 50ml of the eau de parfum will cost £42.61 so actually probably a better buy than the same sized EDT. As I said Amazon may not be the cheapest option but I often buy from there as I have vouchers to use and this makes it an almost free treat then. This is a lovely sweet and quite sexy perfume that would suit a wide range of ages and in my view is not too heavy for day wear yet does have enough appeal to be one for evening wear, just remember to take it with you for a top up though as it is not long lasting and will not take you beyond three hours in my opinion. Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same username. ©Catsholiday
I always go for Gucci or Chanel perfumes because they are distinguishable amongst other perfumes... I got this one for my birthday for a change as my mum was sick of buying me Chanel Chance. I immediately loved the smell..it is quite intense and fruity but with a spicy, warm twist to it. It is a very feminine scent and smells amazing for the first couple of hours, however it then begins to wear off. The bottle is compact and simple so its easy to carry in a handbag if you want to keep topped up... hoever this is the problem... it does need topping up every few hours and Gucci is not one of the cheaper perfumes! So i tend to use it only on a night when I am going out and use a cheaper, more subtle perfume for during the day. As a parfum, I personally feel that the intense smell that first hits you when you spray it should last longer but unfortunately this isn't the case. Having said that, if you are only wearing it on a night out, 2-3 sprays is enough to smell nice for the best part of the night. Everytime I wear this perfume, someone comments on it or asks me what it is. Anyone who wears Gucci also knows which perfume I am wearing because because the smell is so unique and distinctive. I would recommend it although it does leave a bit of a bigger dent in ones bank account than other perfumes!
My perfume of choice has always been Gucci and I have worn every perfume in the range over the last few years so when I found out that Gucci Intense was released last year I just had to try it out. If you have already worn the original (Gucci Guilty) then you will be somewhat familiar with the overall scent, however Intense is a more (for lack of a better word) intense scent. It is an eau de parfum, and as a parfum it should be a stronger, longer lasting fragrance than the original which was/is an eau de toilette. The formula is similar to the original but the scent has been altered to be more powerful. I love the warmth of oriental parfums and Intense starts out with a heady rush of mandarin with just enough spicy pink pepper to make it a warm, sensual opening. However it would be more correct to say that Intense is an oriental, fruity floral. The middle notes are definitely floral but not overly so, just a touch of lilac and violet to give the parfum a lovely feminine middle with good lasting power. As with many of the Gucci perfumes you will notice the patchouli towards the end and is no doubt the reasoning behind the name because it gives the perfume an intensity that in another perfume would be out of place, however it works well with this parfum. Guilty Intense is much more of a night time scent and in my opinion is an excellent fragrance for cool autumn nights and dark winter evenings. As it's a parfum you would expect it to last longer than the toilette but I found that it does need a little touch up after a few hours in cold weather.
Where the original was an eau de toilette, Gucci Guilty Intense; is an eau de parfum: a provocatively warm oriental floral with passion at its core. The scent seizes attention with a flamboyant opening born of the natural rush that is mandarin / imbued witha modish transparency / shimmering alongside an audacious fist of pink pepper. The middle notes; reveal a blossoming of lilac, enriched with the sensual femininity of powdery violet and heliotropine. The patchouli that is the hallmark of Gucci fragrances reaches a lavish new intensity laced with an addictive, amber-rich sillage. The effect is at once arresting and enthrallingly seductive. Frida Gianinni observes: "In Gucci Guilty Intensewe have created a fragrance that truly captivates the senses.".
