Advantages: Light fresh and fruity perfume.

Disadvantages: Bottle is heavy and not portable

By now you will have read a number of perfume reviews and have realised that I am quite a perfume addict and buy/ get bought a lot of perfume. After an awful 10 hour flight from Nairobi (in which a few Vodka and lemonades were consumed) I found myself with 6 hours to kill in Schiphol Airport and drawn to the perfume section in the duty free.

I'm glad that it was only my ability to work out the exchange rate that was affected as Gucci II was an excellent purchase despite being slightly intoxicated.

***Packaging ***
Firstly you will never be able to carry this around in your bag, unless you fancy carrying around the weight of a brick in your bag as this is extremely heavy. The bottle is short and flat square bottle made from a thick glass clear bottle. There is a thick glass wide circular lid which site on top of the bottle. Emphasis on sits, as the lid does not fit securely on the bottle which means the bottle isn't very portable and great for travelling with. It does look very pretty and is definitely mean to be sat on the dressing table.

The bottle is clear so the perfume inside the bottle which is a pink colour is visible and you can see how much is left. The shape of bottle means that it does not look like there is much perfume in the bottle as when full there is only and inches worth of perfume, but as this is a flat square bottle so there is actually a lot of perfume in the bottle (50ml!!!)

As I have mentioned the bottle is very heavy so if you dropped this perfume it is made from very thick glass which seems tough but I imagine would smash (and make a sizeable dint and mark on a wooden or laminate floor).

***Price***
The RRP for this perfume is £45.00 for 50ml and £32.00. It's slightly more expensive than some other Gucci perfumes but the whole marketing / image surrounding the perfume makes it seem a lot more exclusive. For example the packaging as described above is more decorative in comparison to Gucci Rush or Gucci Envy Me.

This is a perfume that you should definitely shop around for as the price varies massively in different shops. John Lewis were selling this for £38.00 per 50ml however Boots were selling this for £48.00. It is available online for £32.00 for 50ml. I'm shamefully going to admit I didn't shop around for this perfume and bought it in a duty free in Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. I'm not sure how many Euros this was advertised for (I had been taking advantage of the many free vodka and lemonades on my flight from Nairobi) but when I checked my credit card statement this perfume set me back £56.00 for 50ml (excluding exchange fees which were listed separate). Lesson one never consume alcohol before shopping as every purchase seems like a great idea!

***Scent ***

The description of the perfume is;
"Eau de Parfum II is a soft, fruity floral that sparkles with notes of mandarin, blackcurrant, violet, and blackberry, smoothed with jasmine, heliotrope, and cedarwood. Playful, yet elegant"

This is a very light and airy fruity scent which smells very fresh and clean. The mandarin and blackcurrant are noticeable and give the perfume the fruity smell. This is a sweet fruity smell but not in the slightest bit sickly which is why the perfume smells very fresh and clean.

As this perfume is very light it does not smell very overpowering and may need to be applied again throughout the day. As the bottle is not portable this would have to be put into an atomiser. This may seem like a lot of hastle but the fragrance is gorgeous and worth the extra effort for how nice it smells.

Its definitely a real girly scent but because it is more fruity and fresh its not just for younger women. I bought my mum this perfume who absolutely loves it, which is a big endorsement as she is extremely fussy when it comes to perfume.

***Summary ***

A great perfume, in my opinion probably my favourite perfume from Gucci. Definitely more suited to be worn though the day rather than for night time/ nights out due to it being extremely light and fresh. Simple but lovely packaging which looks great on any dressing table. I would recommend shopping around for the perfume as prices vary quite dramatically.

Summary: The best perfume from Gucci, fresh, sweet and fruity in a pretty bottle

nice review. unfortunately my budget at the moment only allows me the occasional splurge on a £5 perfume from avon, but it does sound nice.
