Another fragrance on my list Gucci Pour Homme II 100ml Eau De Toilette.
Another company that has gone from fashion design into male and female fragrances. This fragrance has been around since 2007 and created by Karine Dubeuil.
What I noticed straight away was the weight of the bottle compared to others. Not something I would like to drop on my foot I can tell you . The bottle is a clear rectangular shape, which I like as I always like to know how much I have left in perfume/aftershave bottles. The top is the same shape and a gold colour and also has a wood effect look. The bottle we have is 100ml but there are smaller bottles on the market.
Out of all my sons aftershaves this is the one I would actually wear. Its lighter than the first Gucci pour homme and like others I can smell cinnamon. With this one the black tea stands out more than anything with a sweet vanilla underlying tone, this is a fresh clean woody fragrance.
Another long lasting fragrance for during the day and also evenings out.
You can also get the deodorant spray to go with this product, although a bit pricey at £20. The aftershave to buy for 90ml is approximately £49.99.
Last Christmas I decided to have a fragrance morning. I wanted t smell all available options to compare as I wanted to buy a new fragrance for Christmas. I literally trawled through 30 bottles of smells to the annoyance of the assistance, and I liked 2 fragrances. Gucci pour homme II was one of them. It stood out from the others in a subtle way. It smells a bit woody and spicy but in a good way. It's not the type of smell that sounds nice, but it just stood out compared to all of those other smells. When I say 'stands out', it's done in a subtle way, it doesn't smell like you've just cooked a Balti in the woods. The spicyness is enough to notice, unique and pleasent. I'm the type of guy that likes to be different to others, and I like the fact that none of my mates have this fragrance or have even heard of it, prior to me getting it.
One flaw for me is it's size and weight, the bottle is very bulky, and I tend not to take it if i'm stopping away somewhere. I'm clutching at straws really, as I realise this probably isn't a reason not to get it.
In my review for Gucci II Women I mentioned this was an impulse buy whilst walking around Schipol Airport, Amsterdam slightly intoxicated. My 10 hour flight from Nairobi was a nightmare (screaming children, the cabin smelt sweaty and bad turbulence) hence why I took solace in so many (free) vodka and lemonades.
I didn't mention I also bought my boyfriend (who didn't come with me on the trip) a bottle of Gucci II pour Homme as I thought it was "a nice idea to get us matching fragrances". I dragged in to the Duty Free one of the guys who I had spent the last two weeks with doing volunteer work with in Africa. This guy is now one of my closest friends but asking another man if he thought my boyfriend would like the aftershave could have been a silly move as at this point he hadn't even met my boyfriend (they are now life long friends drinking buddies luckily) and he was also intoxicated
The frangrance bottle is very nice as it is so plain and simple. It's less bulky than the ladies Gucci II bottle but has similar design features. It's also made from a very thick clear glass. The Gucci II pour homme is in a small perfectly square bottle. The liquid inside is a liliac/ blue colour. The bottle lid is the same width as the bottle and made from a metal which is a gold colour. The gold is brushed so it doesn't look cheap and tacky. Gucci is written in gold on the glass bottle. And pour Homme II written in small navy font underneath the brand.
Personally I think the bottle would look better with a silver lid, making it look like brushed steel (and more trendy) but it still does look good on the dressing table.
For 50ml the RRP is £35.00, however is available online for £26.00 for 50ml . I rather stupidly paid £42.00 for 50ml in the airport. It is slightly more expensive than other male fragrances but it is gorgeous and one of my favourite male scents. Like with Gucci II for women the price of this fragrance varies between retailers so my advice would be to shop around.
The official description of this:
Gucci Pour Homme II is a spicy, woody fragrance. With top notes of violet leaves, heart notes consisting of cinnamon and pimento and tobacco leaves making up the base notes
Now I was very surprised when I found this description online. Tobacco leaves conjured up images of fags and the smell of dirty ash trays. Ergh!!! This fragrance smells completely the opposite of an ash tray as it is so fresh!!!
The overall smell is very subtle but I find more fruity than musky. When sprayed onto the skin the fragrance does not smell at all strong but I feel it smells quite fruity that gives it such freshness. The fruity scent is slightly of lemon but then this is counterbalanced by a very subtle spicy woody smell. What I like about this fragrance is that it smells the same when it is sprayed on and then hours later. Despite it being a subtle smelling fragrance it does not need to be sprayed on again or reapplied it lasts all day.
It's very subtle and a very fresh, fruity and slightly woody scent in a very attractive bottle. This makes a great scent to wear during the day because it is so fresh. It's very subtle but the scent is long lasting and does not fade so two sprays in the morning will last all day. Because of the subtle scent it makes a great gift as it's not a fragrance that is offensive and too strong. Both my boyfriend and I agree top marks!
