Gucci is a well known Italian fashion brand which branched out a large perfume range some years ago - and the perfume I will be reviewing today is the only Gucci scent I have tried to date - Gucci Rush.
The first time I ever experianced Gucci Rush was during a holiday to Turkey in 2006 where I came across a stall selling 3 perfumes for just £10 - looking at the packaging and testing the perfume myself you couldn't actually tell the difference to the real thing apart from the scent lasted just a couple of hours as opposed to a full day for the real thing... In my mind it was £10 well spent and they made great perfumes for work! When I finished this cheap bottle I bought the real thing back home and as previously mentioned the scent did last a lot longer on the real thing.
The design is really what initially attracted to the perfume as it is completely different to the majority of glass bottles and different coloured liquids you see in products normally. To some it may look cheap but to me its very unique like the scent... The "bottle" is actually a red coloured rectangular box which comes packaged in a matching red cardboard sleeve for protection. The material for the perfume container is a hard durable plastic. There isn't actually a normal spray nozzle on this like you normally see on perfumes - its actually built into the side of the box that you have to press in and the spray dispenses at the opposite side. The perfume brand and type - Gucci Rush - is printed down one of the sides in silver and orange font which stands out against the red packaging.
The liquid to me comes out as clear and the bottle is in no way transparent so you cannot see the contents.
On to the scent of the perfume, to me its addictive and like no other. Its very sexy, alluring and memorable and it just reminds me of that particular holiday to Turkey - an exotic scent! What I picked up was a mixture between wood and vanilla scents... quite sweet... For those interested in the notes, Gucci lists the following :
Top Note : The top of the fragrance smolders with an enticing blend of bergamot, peony and gardenia
The Heart : Violet, vanilla and jasmine fuse beautifully to form the heart's refreshing floral bouquet
Base Notes : Warm, aromatic and softly spicy, the base of the fragrance emerges with earthy notes of patchouli
To me the above description sounds very floral but the perfume is everything but.
In my opinion this perfume would be a great gift for anyone - from teenagers to older women. I bought this perfume for my mum once who is 50+ and she can be a bit picky with perfume and even she loved it. However you should expect to pay for it and I haven't seen it for cheap (apart from my Turkish holiday!). I only literally have a couple of issues with this perfume - with any perfume bottle that is not transparent it is hard to see when you are running low... you have to rely on your ears and shake the bottle around to get an idea. Also the spray nozzle that you press in to disperse tends to stick.
At the time of writing this review Gucci Rush can be picked up in the following sizes and prices at the Perfume Shop :
Gucci Rush EDT 30ml - £36.50
Gucci Rush EDT 50ml - £48.50
Gucci Rush EDT 75ml - £64.50
... But you can tend to get it a bit cheaper if you keep your eyes peeled in shops and other websites!
Summary: you should really rush to buy it!
