Guerlain Insolence Eau de Toilette
Advantages: lovely bottle
I picked this perfume up initially because I really liked the design of the bottle. I hadn't really heard much about this perfume before I saw it but it was launched in 2006 and so it isn't exactly that new. The brand Guerlain are not one that I know too much about and I definitely have not used any of their fragrances before and so I was intrigued to see what the smell would be like. The bottle gives off the idea that it would have a very feminine and fresh scent and I hoped that it was.
The bottle to this is what attracted my attention as it is a semi circle shape with a lid that is a glass flower and it has a purple hue through out. It really is beautiful and the light shines through the centre so that you can see how much perfume that you have left in the bottle. I think the bottle is meant to signify some of the notes that are included in the perfume to make it seem like more of a whole. I have the 50ml fragrance of this bottle and it has lasted me quite a good while now.
At first when I sprayed this I didn't spray too much as I wanted to get an idea of what the scent was like. The fragrance is a heavy one and it does strike me instantly as being heavily floral. It has a sweetness to the scent which I like also and it isn't my favourite scent but it is ok once it mutes down a little. It is a fragrance that could be for all age groups but I'd say instantly that in my opinion this is probably a scent more appropriate for an older woman as it may be too much for a younger woman.
The scent is made up of quite a number of different notes, starting with the base notes, it is made up of sandalwood and tonka bean which is a funny combination and also I didn't pick up on the woody notes. The heart notes of this fragrance are violet and iris which is definitely where the floral notes strike me from and it is nice as you really notice these the most. The top notes of it are red berries which isn't too many different notes, it is quite minimalistic but this adds that light sweetness.
I think with this fragrance being heavier than most that ideally you just need one spray for it to stay on as it does have a really good staying power. I spray it once upon wear and it will last me all day long and even through the week I can still smell it faintly on garments if I wear them. The smell is one which can be adaptable for either an evening or daytime occasion it just depends how the wearer would prefer to use it. You do not need to reapply it though which is great.
This fragrance is appropriate for a gift or for any woman that loves a flowery kind of scent. It may be too heavy for a lot of women and if I hadn't been given this I don't know if I'd go out and buy it again as I do find it quite strong sometimes. This is a versatile scent though and it is definitely one of those that you need to give a try first before you go out and buy and really see how it lies on your skin as, as they say everyone wears a fragrance differently, so you can never tell.
If you fancy trying this fragrance or buying it then theperfumeshop.com are selling the 30ml gift set for £24.99 which includes the EDT and 75ml body lotion. The 30ml EDP on its own is £39.99 and the 50ml EDT is £49.99 which isn't the worst I've seen.
