Advantages: packaging and design

Disadvantages: the fragrance itself!

A friend at work had this perfume bottle with her the other day and I just thought it was so cute i had to go and take a look next time I was in Boots. I usually stick to 2 different perfumes but love trying new ones out and switching occasionally, but most of all i admit i was just drawn to the doll on the bottle!

I had some difficulty trying to explain which perfume i wanted to test out (as they were all behind the counter and I couldn't see whether they actually had these ones) as i couldn't remember or pronounce the name! I would have thought saying Gwen Stefani's new perfumes with the dolls on the bottles would have been enough for the sales assistant but apparantly not!!

I tried the Gwen one as this is what my friend had and i had thought it smelled lovely and summery and fresh. However when i actually tested it up close and on myself rather than on my friend I didn't like it at all! It smelled like Hawaain Tropic suntan lotion. I love the smell of that but as a sun tan lotion not as a perfume! It is very coconutty - a bit overpowering with coconut actually. There are also hints of maybe citrus fruit or something a bit sweeter but i couldn't work out what it was. It does smell summery and fresh but i can only imagine wearing it on the beach (and i might as well just wear the Hawaiin Tropic suntan lotion and get the SPF and coconut smell all in one product!). I think to wear it anywhere else it is a bit sickly sweet in my opinion. However perhaps it would be great for pre-teens or teens as it is not a very grown up perfume and i'm sure they would love the bottle too.

The 30ml that i was looking at cost £19.99 in Boots. They also did a smaller 10ml one which i think was £12.99 but I think that is pretty poor value for money. I am used to buying 30ml, 50ml or even 100ml sometimes of my favourite perfume. I think 10ml would be gone in a couple of weeks!

So sorry - bottles and packaging are lovely and i am a sucker for packaging and cute designs of things but there is no way as a 30 year old woman i would wear this perfume i'm afraid!

Summary: Good for young teens perhaps or maybe wearing abroad on a beach!
