      An impressive scent

I bought this perfume years ago but I still have around 20% of the bottle left!

The perfume comes in a stylish bottle which has a huge gold lid. The letter "L" is inscribed into the lid in the bottom left hand corner. The gold lid may put some people off as it looks a little bulky but I happen to like it.
The perfume is said to be a fruity floral with a hint of spice. It's a more mature fragrance from Gwen and it's aimed at women around 20 plus. The perfume has a hint of spice and contains exotic floral notes.

The perfume smells quite strong when you first spray it but it soon settles down. It is a fruity floral and it smells quite fresh and summery. When I first spray the perfume I can detect the initial floral notes which smell quite tropical and exotic. It's definitely a summer scent that reminds me of holidays in the sun. When the perfume settles down you are met by muskier notes that settle well to deliver an impressive feminine fragrance. The scent has powerful staying power, it really does last forever. I can still smell this on me HOURS after initially first spraying it. This is also down to a good mix of notes.

I do like this perfume. It's quite a "warm" fragrance but it is suitable for both day and night wear. The summery feel of the perfume makes it a lovely daytime scent whilst the warmer notes of the perfume make it a lovely evening scent.

      Beautiful, just like Gwen herself.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

For me this is a great smelling, long lasting perfume.

I don't usually like fragrances by celebrities as they all seem to smell overly sweet and samey, but I decided to take a chance on L LAMB fragrance by Gwen Stefani after I saw it for sale on a fragrance website for around £12 for 100ml. I thought this was a bargain for the large amount of perfume, and so decided to give it a try.

      ~~Bottle~~

The bottle is not going to be to everyone's taste as it's very striking, with a huge gold lid which fits over a 'Rastafarian' coloured striped glass bottle. The bottle for the 100ml size which I have is very heavy, so can't be carried in my handbag, but given how long this perfume lasts I don't need to carry it around with me!

      ~~Scent~~

The fragrance is quite hard to describe I think. After the first few sprays it smells very strongly of sharp fruit to me, mixed in with some lovely florals. The official notes include 'Green Notes', Hyacinth, Freesia, Pear, Violet Leaves, Jasmine, Rose, Lilly of the Valley, Sweet Pea, Orange Blossom, Frangipani, Heliotrope and Musk, but to me the most noticeable of these are the fruity pear and orange, and the lovely jasmine and rose scents which are soft but somehow still manage to make a big impact.

This scent is not going to be for everyone as it's very strong, particularly at first, and could be overpowering if you apply too much (you only need a few squirts at most). Towards the end of the day, the perfume softens a great deal and the sweet muskiness which comes through is very feminine and sensual. I personally wear this perfume during the day as it's strong and long lasting, which suits me, but it could also be worn on weekends and other casual outings. I wouldn't really call it an evening perfume, but I suppose that's up to the individual wearer!

      ~~Staying Power~~

This perfume is brilliant on my skin in terms of staying power. I can put just a few squirts on in a morning and I can still smell the perfume on my skin at the end of the day. Infact, for the first hour or so the perfume is highly noticeable, and so if you're sensitive to strong smells it might not be great for you. I love the strength and staying power though, so for me this is a great buy which I can recommend to other people.

      ~~Price~~

Sold in 30 ml, 50 ml and 100 ml bottles, L is an inexpensive, good quality perfume priced around £10-£20. I don't think that this has proved a very popular fragrance, people seem to love it or hate it, so I don't think it'll be around for much longer. This means I'm going to have to buy another 100ml bottle now before it gets discontinued!

      Disadvantages

      -

I was really excited when Gwen Stefani first brought out her perfume, "L" by L.A.M.B (L.A.M.B being Love.Angel.Music.Baby). I have always been a fan of Gwen Stefani's music and her as a bit of a style icon and I was certain that I would not be disappointed with this perfume from her which is why I put it on my Christmas list without a moments hesitation when it first came out. I didn't even bother to get a tester for it, I was that convinced I would love it.

The perfume was around £30 when I first got it which was in about 2005/2006 so we're talking a while ago now but you can pick it up fairly cheaply these days. It is available in two sizes - 50ml and 100ml and can be purchased for between £10 and £20 which is really good compared to what it originally cost.

The perfume comes in a sqare box which is quite thick and chunky. To look at it is quite rockish but with a tom boy flair to it. There is nothing girly about the packaging of this perfume which led me to believe that the perfume wouldn't be girly either. It has two wide yellow coloured bars down either side of the front of the box which have a mottled design. There are then two thinner white bars next to even thinner aqua coloured bars. In the centre is a big block of black which has "L" in a gold metallic font and is done in a font which reminds me of the New York Yankees. Underneath is the acronym "L.A.M.B" and Gwen Stefani all the the New York Yankees font and in the same gold metallic colour.

The bottle in my opinion is quite masculine. It doesn't appeal to me in a girlish way at all and I have to admit I was a little disappointed by it. I thought the bottle would have that girly rock effect to it but this just didn't. The bottle is made up of two parts - the lid and the bottle itself. In this instance, the lid is almost as big as the actual bottle itself and it clips over the spray nozzle of the bottle and then covers three quarters of the body of the bottle, leaving a little bit showing from underneath the lid. The lid and the bottle are all one shape and it is square so a little boring. The lid is gold in colour and has a line running through the middle which makes an "L" shape. In the bottle right hand corner is an "L" in the same design as the one on the box. The bottle itself is mutlicoloured glass. It is made up of pink, red, orange/yellow and moss green. You can see the perfume through the glass which allows you to know how much you have used.

The scent is made up of sparkling green freshness, leafy waterhyacinth, freesia, pear, violet leaves, jasmine, rose, lily of thevalley, sweet pea, orange blossom, frangipani blossom, peach skin, heliotrope and musk.

The scent itself is very musky at first. My first reaction to the scent was much the same as my reaction to the bottle - masculine and definately not the type of scent I would usually go for. After a few minutes the muskiness of the perfume seemed to settle down and lost the masculinity which was a relief. In its place, I was greeted with a peach scent mixed with jasmine and rose. It smelled absolutely beautiful. It became fresh and light, perfect for a summer's day. As the scent settles on your skin even more so, the greeness of the scent comes out with almost a leafy smell whcih compliments the peach nicely.

The scent is perfect for day to day wear. I wouldn't wear it as an evening out scent as it comes across too casual for that and it is much too light and clean. It isn't a sexy secent, more of a fun, light hearted scent. The scent lasts very well on the skin, lasting for around six hours which is impressive coming from a celebrity perfume.

The bottle did let the perfume down for me but the scent is absolutely gorgeous once you give it chance to settle and allow its true scents to come through. I highly recommend it, especially given its affordability at the moment.

Not a repeat purchase for me.

I have always bought a lot of different kinds of fragrances over the years and not all of them have been a success and this is an example of one of those, for me it is a distinctly average product and rather forgettable, rather like the music of it's celebrity pop namesake Gwen Stefani.

It is an inexpensive low end scent, you can buy a 100ml on Amazon for £16.75 and it is certainly aimed at the younger end of the market. The packaging is rather stylish though, the box is a square shape in yellow with a black band down the middle and a large golden L on it and the rest of the product information below it. The bottle itself has a sort of dark rainbow mixture of colours of orange, green, yellow and red and the top that slides over it is a large body of faded gold with the trade mark L on it as well. Quite stylish and different when you look at it.

Design wise the product is pretty cool however the fragrance for me was a bit of a disappointment, it has a rather floral scent to it that seemed nice at first but then seemed to gather strength and was rather potent and over powering after a couple of minutes, it just smelt a bit cheap and like a 14 year old trying to act older by dousing themselves in scent. It did settle down a bit after a while, it has a rather peachy smell to it and apparently that is one of the notes in it but it also has some musk in there and hyacinth as wel as others.

For me this was a one time purchase and not a scent I would recommend although maybe it just did not react well with my skin. I think this is one product I will leave to the teens.

Not really much to say on this one...

        The fragrance

This fragrance is a real struggle to describe: I can't separate any of the listed individual notes, so the top, heart & base of L just blends into one big jumble. I'm not sure what the perfumers mean by sparkling greens, but I'd bet on soggy leaves judging by scent. The weak, watery florals are slightly sweet, so I'm guessing again when I suggest pear (?).

So; L is basically a fruit salad, washed down with a gallen of water.
I can't believe that Gwen Stefani would put her name & brand to this; there's nothing unique to L.

I like the heavy, stained glass bottle, but the big, gold lid is rather ugly.

        Other buying considerations
        - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The staying power isn't good; Two hours max. However, the price is very good, as nearly every high street store and online retailer have halved the RRP.

L can be worn to work, on the weekends with jeans & for evenings out. It's non-offensive to other people, didn't give me any headaches and no single scent note is strong enough to be disagreeable.

        My opinion
        - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm not a fan of knock-everyone-within-a-12-mile-radious-out fragrances, but this is way too safe. Wearing it gets quite frustrating; I sniff my wrist non-stop and rack my brain trying to seperate scent notes from the jumble.

L is not something I'd re-buy for myself; it's so bland & lifeless. But - thinking about it - L would be a safe gift choice for someone. It's wearable on all women, regardless of age, job etc

L is sold in 30 ml, 50 ml and 100 ml bottles. Prices vary between £10 to £20 in almost every shop. Most high street stores only stock the 30 ml and 50ml bottles now. This looks like it's yet another perfume gone into discontinuation.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A fruity & floral scent that smells very similar to Maybe Baby from Benefit.

I admit I am a huge Gwen Stefani fan. L is the first and only celebrity fragrance I have bought and part of it was because it had her name on it, but I wouldn't of purchased it if I didn't like the scent.

I purchased this in Debenhams for £30 for 50ml, which is cheaper than the Harajuku Lovers Fragrances for the amount that you get. It's very easy to find reduced now, I've seen it recently for £10. There is also a matching body lotion and shower gel.

The packaging is very chic and expensive looking. The slide out box has a promotional picture of Gwen Stefani from the advertising campaign before you get to the main box. I love the design of this; very chic and unique. You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into the overall design of this fragrance compared to other celebrity fragrances that are all very generic and clichéd. The front of the box has the original L.A.M.B. logo in old English (the logo has since changed to a courier font) and a background of black interlocking L's. The inside of the box is lined with black and white stripes which is the inside lining of her L.A.M.B. bags. The slogan of this product, 'I want you all over me' is a little cheesy, but it is taken from her song 'Crash'. This product is fun but still very beautiful and stylish.

The bottle cap is an oversized pair of gold interlocking Ls - very unique and very cool. It's actually bigger than the bottle. The bottle itself is rasta-coloured glass Gwen's favourite colour combination) and looks beautiful on my dresser . The perfume inside is supposed to look like champagne. I love the design, it may seem like too many things are going on but it works well.
Is the packaging practical though? Well, no. I no longer carry this in my handbag, not only does the lid make it heavy, but it's not very secure and the fragrance can leak! The lid seems to chip easily too. I've had this bottle for a while now and the pump has stopped working. There used to be a pretty L logo onto of the pump which has now faded. A friend told me to put clear nail varnish over the logo as the same thing happened to her, but really, who can be bothered? So it rubbed off!

The fragrance is a light fruity scent with lots of white floral. I mainly picked up pear and sweat pea blended with musk. It's not overly feminine or sophisticated; it's more of a 'grown-up girly' scent which makes it great for an everyday fragrance.
It's a fresh but very strong smell which well last all day but it can turn slightly chemically and artificial on the dry down.

It's very similar to Maybe Baby from Benefit - just a little heavier and muskier. Out of the Harajuku Lovers fragrances it reminds me the most of Music and a little bit of Love.
I am very sensitive to perfumes yet this one didn't give me a headache or irritate my skin at all.

          A unique and interesting scent

I generally steer clear of celebrity fragrance as they all seem a bit samey to me, but I came across this one in Macy's in Florida.

I was fed up with the same old light floral fragrances and the sickly sweet 'teen' fragrances out there so was quite taken by its unique and quite unusual scent . It has very green leafy top notes of water hyacinth, white freesia, pear and violet leaves. This gives way to your mid notes which consist of jasmine, rose, sweet pea and lily of the valley but dries down any leaves you with a great musky scent that lasts and lasts. It does seem to have a slight masculine quality to it, but I find this not to intense and quite sensual. It's not too heavy and I do find it suitable for day time use as well as evening. I always get great compliments when I wear it, so it must be nice.

The packaging is really nice too. It come in a black and yellow box with the L logo in gold on the front. The bottle looks cool too. Its Gwen Stefani's trade mark rasta colours, red ,gold and green transparent glass with the L logo on the front. The lid is gold coloured and covers nearly the entire bottle and has a good quality heavy feel to it, unlike some fragrance bottles which just look cheap.

I purchased my current bottle, 30ml eau de parfum for £7.99 (what a bargain) at Semichem, on offer as part of their deal of the week, and at this great price, I think I may buy another!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            A nice fresh scent....this is!

When it comes to perfumes and the buying of them I just love it. What's more is because I love to shop I'm aware of prices of things and I remember almost buying this fragrance way back when it was on offer in my local Boots store for £20.00. I remember thinking what a great price that was at the time and how much I liked the bottle and fragrance but also remember having a sensible I don't need it moment and I seriously at the time didn't need to spend 20 quid!

However it sticks in my mind as something that happened so when I saw this same bottle in the same size turn up in my local T.J Hughes store for a tenner it was a no brainer and buy it I did...I'd waited long enough and was delighted with my purchase babbling on to the sales assistant about what an amazing purchase it was and trying to tell her my little story when you could read her mind thinking will this bird shut up I want to go home lol.

            The Packaging:

My 50ml bottle was presented in a yellow and black square box. On the front in gold and white writing Im told it is 'L' LA.M.B Fragrance, Gwen Stefani and that it is Eau De Parfum Spray and the size is stated. On the back of the box ingredients are listed and contact details for Coty Prestige are given (the manufacturer of the product). Open the box open via the flip top opening to the top of it and the inside of the box is black and white striped and your met with your bottle of perfume. The bottle itself is orange, green and yellow and sort of mingled coloured. It sprays out via a little gold push button sprayer with L engraved into it and on the front of the bottle L is engraved into it again. The pull on/off lid is also square and is bigger than the bottle and slides over the top. It's a bit of a pain to pull on and off but looks very nice when on the bottle with again an L engraved into it and it's an unusual looking and modern in design.

            The Fragrance Itself:

Well as far as I can make out this was Gwen's debut perfume offering, before that of the Harajuku lover collection. If your a fan of the Japanese inspired Harajuku lover perfumes then I think it's a very safe bet to assume you would like this cos to me this smells like all of those perfumes (Love, Angel, Music and Baby) all well blended together and this obviously was the inspiration for those offerings.

This in my opinion is a floral and more day time sort of perfume. Of course you can wear it whenever you want to and although it's delicately fragranced it still is a potent and hefty smelling perfume that stays on the skin for a very long time. It sort of brings masculine and feminine together though it is a woman's perfume and I can't imagine a man wanted to wear this lol.

The notes in this are a blend of leafy water hyacinth, violet leaves, fresh pear, white freesia. Heart notes of rose, jasmine petals, sweat pea, orange blossom, hellotrope flower, peach skin and musk.

To me this floral blend smells of all the above ingredients and it's a bit of a Kameleon of a scent. Sometimes to me it leans more towards being a rose scent, other times jasmine and so on and so forth. I can always smell a hint of peach wafting over it and then it's grounded slightly by a gentle musk.

Wonderfully but naturally sweet this is a very interesting blend and not like anything I can compare it to on the market, it is rather unique. For me though it's a younger scent, incredibly fresh and clean smelling it lacks a little sophistication I require from my perfumes but still I'm pleased I bought this as a couple of squirts fragrance me up for hours and it's worked out a very good buy and people are always asking me what I'm wearing when I'm sporting this aroma.

This is available to purchase in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml sizes and it can be found online for bargain prices at the moment but I have seen this in Superdrug, Boots and Theperfumeshop and prices vary considerably. I would say expect to pay around £23.00 for the 30ml, £30.00 for the 50ml and about £40.00 for the 100ml give or take a few quid but like I say do investigate this perfume online first if possible to get the best possible price!
