An ok perfume for the money but lacks that certain something

I was bought this perfume as a gift and wasn't sure about it at first. It has a very light scent so you need to put quite a lot on in order to get a good smell that lasts. The scent itself in light, floral and very feminine- it's a perfect perfume for wearing during the day. This perfume would suit a more middle aged to older person however- although the fact that it's by Halle Berry may put some older people off buying or even trying it. I found the price was very good however the bottle was a bit boring and didn't look as pretty as other perfumes I have sitting on my dressing table. I doubt I would buy this again myself however I can see that it would appeal to those who like to wear a very light, natural scent .
Overall however it is a good enough product for its price- however it just takes a lot to get a strong smell.

      Halle should stick to acting

I was lucky enough to receive a 30ml bottle of Halle by Halle Berry Eau de Parfum as a gift at a company conference as I had heard a lot about it and was quite looking forward to trying it out.

The box is very disappointing I feel, it is a little too self promoting and gives the product a much less luxurious air. The box has a picture of Halle herself in a rather cheesy pose, looking over her shoulder, on one side of the box. The other side is far less offensive and is plain dark golden yellow colour with the Halle logo. I felt that it was necessary to dispose of the box immediately and suffer this self indulgence no more. Very unnecessary to have Halle staring at me from by dressing table!

The bottle is an improvement on the box, and is a heavy glass with a soft gold coloured spray mechanism, and a frosed glass type of lid. The bottle is transparent, through which the fragrance is visible, this is a really rich looking golden colour.

This perfume begins with very sweet and fruity top notes, which include fig leaf, bergamot and pear. If you are a fan of sweet fragrances then this would be a good choice. I feel that the product at this stage is what has now become a typical celebrity scent. However, the sweet notes even though they continue to full dry down, do tend to mellow quite a lot so it doesn't become sickly.

The mid notes are much more sophisticated, mimose, hibiscus and freesia which bring a more grown up quality to an otherwise possibly too sweet (for some) a fragrance. I do like the scent of freesia in a perfume, and here it does tend to stand out quite nicely.

The base notes, and the full dry down are much better than the sweet and fruity opening. This is where the fragrance takes on a very grown up and quite surprising and unusual turn, with the addition of cashmere musk, which is warm and exotic, along with sandalwood and amber. I think that I also detect a warm soft hint of vanilla, but can not be certain as this is not one of the listed notes.

I think that this fragrance is quite unique for a celebrity scent as it does have some great notes, but I do feel that it is let down by the sweet fruiy opening. It feels almost like two fragrances combined, which is a little odd.

It is not an unpleasant scent by any stretch of the imagination, and does have its appeal. It is an improvement on many celebrity scents out there, but it does have a few drawbacks. For instance, the cheap box, the confusion between opening and dry down, and the fact that it is rather expensive, at £23.00 for a 30ml bottle, I feel is not cheap. My last criticism is that for an eau de parfum it does not last very long at all. I applied this today with writing this review in mind, and at tops being generous, it lasted all of approximately 3 hours before I couldn't detect it any longer.

Would I recommend this fragrance? To be honest no, there are too many negatives for the price although on smell alone it is nice For the money there are much nicer fragrances available.

The things celebs will do for money!

Normally when a celebrity brings out a fragrance its seems to be advertised everywhere but i didnt even know about this until i was browsing in Boots one day. I was with my mum helping her to choose a new perfume and saw this. Like everything in Boots its more expensive there than anywhere else and a 30ml bottle is £23.00. However we ended up going to get it in Semi Chem where it was about £10 for the same size bottle, so i suggest that you have a look about for a better deal that Boots offer as the perfume is definately not worth anymore than £10 in my opinion.

My mum is extremely fussy about fragrances, and the smell she hates the most is vanilla as it often triggers her severe migranes so i was extremely surprised when she choose this. All i can smell from this is vanilla and she agreed with me but she says she could also smell something else from it and it didnt have that sickly sweet smell that vanilla has. The ingredients are Sicilian bergamot, fig leaves, pear blossom, sandalwood, driftwood, cashmere musk, olibanum absolute and amber. However i can only smell vanilla and it reminds me of an impulse body spray that i had years ago at school. It just smells really cheap, and like something that should be in a lipbalm or something, not a celebrity perfume.

The good thing is, it so far hasnt given my mum any headaches and she has been using it bout 6 months now. Also i have found that it has quite good staying power. I dont really like it but i have used it a couple of times when i have ran out of my own perfume and one spray on the wrist is very long lasting and i think its strong enough and any more makes it too sickly.

I really wasnt impressed with this, no wonder its not been advertised anywhere. Its made by Coty, who are also responsible for making the Beckhams awful fragrances aswell so the next time i see anything by Coty, i will be staying clear.

I've been looking forward to testing HALLE. I've read countless articles on how spicy and sensual it was meant to be. Well, it's sadly turned out not to be the case for me.

The top notes are a bit too sweet, it borders on sickly on me. I love fig notes in other fragrances, but combined with pear? I can put up with it, but I'm not a huge fan.

However, it's the overpowering floral notes that put me of HALLE. I couldn't separate any of the individual notes; they all smacked me in the face at once. Sweetness + heavy florals = migraine.

It was a shame, as I love the creamy base notes; at last I capture the sensuality I was promised. Unfortunately it was too little too late for me.

The bottle is rectangular so won't tip over and roll away. The wavy pattern makes it easy to grip and spray.

HALLE is best suited to daywear during autumn/winter. As mentioned above, I have suffered from migraines after wearing this during warmer weather.

Considering how strong the scent notes were at first, I was very disappointed with the staying power; Around 2/3 hours.

          My opinion

I was so hoping I'd love HALLE: I bought into the hype about how unique it was and had built it up in my mind, so the reality really shocked me. You may have guessed that I favour sweet scents by my past reviews, but this is too much. It just cloys.

[Please note: This is not a product I bought. I was given a partly used bottle from a friend]
