I have a bit of a thing for perfumes and after having a sort through of them last week I thought the time had come to review them. The amount I have cold keep me going review wise for a good few weeks so I will probably be annoying you with a good few! One of the perfumes which made it back out of a hatbox and out on to my dressing table. A good few of the perfumes I own are the ones endorsed by celebrities. I know some people tend to avoid them but if they smell nice then they are more than welcome on my dressing table. One of the celebrity endorsed perfumes I have is one by Hilary Duff called With Love. With Love is available is four different sizes - 5ml, 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. They cost £5, £12, £14 and £19 respectively. I think the 5ml one is only available in TJ Hughes as this is where I got mine and I have never seen it elsewhere in that size. Each of the other sizes is readily available in most high street stores and online. The perfume comes in a pretty yet simple box. The box itself is square in shape and the top of it is an aqua blue colour, slightly similar to the colour of Tiffany & Co boxes. At the bottom of the box is another layer which is a deep maroon colour. The aqua part of the box has a gold design around the edge on the front of the box. The design is swirly and almost has a filgree look to it. In the centre, in joined, swirly, maroon text are the words "With Love" and underneath in a normal, bold font is the "Hilary Duff". The box opens slightly differently to the normal boxes in that it is more like opening a little present because the aqua part of the box is actually a lid which you lift off to reveal the perfume inside. Inside the box you are greeted with the bottle which is one of my favourite perfume bottles. It has a very antique feel to it and makes me think of times gone by. It looks as though it is from the 1930's-40's era. It is made of glass and is a rough oval shape. The bottle has little diamond shapes cut into it to give it more design. The glass is clear and you can see the liquid of the perfume through the glass. It is a golden yellow colour and it is nice to be able to see it to know when you are running out! Wrapped around the neck of the bottle is a gold looking rope design which further adds to the antique feel of the bottle. You are then met with the gold plated spray nozzle which is capped with a citrine lid. The perfume is a fruity yet woody scent with has notes of mangosteen fruit, exotic spice blend, chai latte, mangosteen blossoms, cocobolo wood, amber milk, amber musk and balsam. I always find that I can smell the woodiness of this perfume rather than the fruitiness. The fruitiness is definately there when you first spray it but it settles down into this beautiful musky yet woody scent which manages to retain its femininity. It is absolutely beautiful. The cocobolo wood musked with amber musk is pure perfection and it generates a warming winter scent. I always wear this perfume during the winter months. It is definately more a colder weather scent than it is summer due to the woodsy scents it has. It lasts really well once it has been applied. I find that it will last for around 7 hours which is great for a perfume which is not at all expensive. It is a scent which I think is aimed at the older teen girl and upwards from that age rather than younger. It is a sexy scent more than it is a girly scent. Highly recommended!
The Hilary Duff With Love perfume has a stong and fruity scent which i found appealing. I also like the elegant shape and style of the bottle which looks alot like cut crystal. The perfume itself is a light golden colour which also adds to the elegant appearance. The positive aspects i have found include the unique fragrance this brand provides. I was also suprised at how long the scent lasted on my skin and clothing considering only a small amount is required. Although this perfume was ideal for my taste, and I personally cannot find any faults, there may be some negative aspects for other people. For instance the perfume may not be to everybodys taste, and in my opinion it is targeted at a younger audience (Teenagers/young adults). Remember this is only my opinion and since i love the perfume so much i would recommend that anyone would get a sample. I prefer to wear the perfume thoughout the day and do not find it suitable for evening wear, although others may prefer this type of scent in the evening. I received this perfume as a gift two christmas' ago and therefore I did not pay for it. I am now ready to buy a new bottle and have found that 100ml bottle is relatively cheap at approx £20, available in most stores including Boots and Superdrug. I feel that this perfume is great value for money and would recommend anyone to give it a try, even just a sample.
I'd been avoiding this because I thought I was getting too old for these tween celebrities releasing fragrances. I don't mean to sound snobbish, but queuing up to buy something by Hilary Duff? No, thank you. I just couldn't resist it in the end though. I'm very pleased to say I was wrong. At first spay there is a pleasantly sweet fruit/floral top note of mangosteen fruit, mangosteen blossom & vanilla. Don't be put of by this, admittedly these top notes doesn't help peoples first opinions that WITH LOVE is a 'younger' scent. It's the middle notes of exotic spices, chai latte, balsam, incense and wonderfully 'creamy' amber milk that make WITH LOVE stand out from the crowd. I'm not sure how to describe the effect other then 'warm'. The spices & incense aren't too heavy, but lend a wonderful scene of sophistication. Not something I expected!! The base of cocobolo wood and amber musk blends nicely with the middle notes, so the transition is very subtle. What can I say? I was really surprised by the depth of WITH LOVE, and think it should be marketed for people out of their teens. It's perfect for any time of the year, and for everyday wear, and evening or special occasions.
Where is the love?, have you ever wanted to feel so tied down into romance? with your head above the clouds, well now heres your chance to feel so luxurious with that sensational smell, i would never think i would say this about a perfume... as i would normally read behind the brand names and think their all just the same!, but theres something about this fragrence which i cant get enough off. i mean as for a girl, the smell makes me feel so sweet and tender, and the good thing about it... is you know its yours safe in your heart, where you can share the love, as your all loved up, with your man. Not to worry if you havent got a man by your side go out and have some fun, and maybe your luck will turn. This is the best perfume i have ever tried i just cant get enough ,thats why i wear it everyday, which can be annoying, as how much i want to safe it no matter how hard i try, the irerristable perfume dissapears, and all im left with is a half empty glizzereing bottle calling my name. seriously! i think i have found the best perfume yet, i defenetly would give this a thumbs up with a 5 star rating x
Hilary Duff: With love, Eau de Parfum. Retail Price: 50ml is £20.00 30ml is £10.00 This fragrance is my second favourite ever. I first saw it in a fragrance shop when it first came out, then got a few testers and couldn't stop smelling them! Then got a few pennies together and bought it straight away. It has a very sexy, classy smell you can wear this scent anytime any place it works well as a day fragrance and night. I use only a small amount in the day but spray more on the night especially if I have a night out or an event to go to. The bottle is really beautiful the crystal looking round shape gives it a very expensive look. I do wish it were bigger though as it didn't last me long. If you only use a few sprays it will last you a while. 5 Stars for the smell as its not what you first expect, its better I do really like the scent and I think hilary has done well with this fragrance it's a classy, pretty smell not musky or over powering but just really nice. I would say if you was a guy buy this for your girlfriend she will love it my friends also fell in love with this scent. You can buy it online or in boots/ perfume shops. The 50ml is better value so get that. Trying it for the first time get the 30ml incase you dont need that much.
Launched: 2006 Group: Oriental Spicy ~ INTRODUCTION ~ I don't normally buy celebrity fragrances as they tend to contain exclusively synthetic ingredients which I have to say do not provide the same olfactory experience natural substances do. At the beginning of this year towards the end of winter I was exploring modern fragrances that belonged to the oriental woody or oriental spicy category, finally, based on positive reviews online I bought a fairly inexpensive bottle of With Love Eau de Parfum online. ~ THE PACKAGING ~ The outer packaging is a light blue carton box with a purple base. The bottle itself is a multi-faceted glass, sort of like a diamond. It's fairly light glass, not one of those classic, chunky and heavy perfume bottles so I'd be careful of dropping it. The translucent, golden-colored plastic lid which looks like a bar clicks firmly onto the atomiser, making it safe to carry around in your handbag. ~ THE FRAGRANCE ~ Top notes: spices, mangosteen fruit The opening of With Love is fruity and woody, giving it a fairly sweet start. The main note I detect is some sweet citrusy odour mixed with spices such as cinnamon or clove. The fruity - woody and somewhat spicy accord is sweet but not overpowering, it's upbeat and different from the usual sticky fruity openings. Middle notes: mango flower, cocobolo wood The spices gradually fade after half an hour, however, some of the fruity theme continues with now more of a floral theme. The woods are equally present. Having tested a few modern oriental - woody compositions this summer (e.g. Sensuous by Estee Lauder), in terms of woodiness With Love was possibly the best. It's markedly woody but also soft, dry and juicy at the same time, it blends in well with the exotic - fruity feel and anchors the otherwise fleety impression. This phase lasted for about three hours. Base notes: amber, musk After about four hours, the fragrance seemed to have disappeared from the skin when I smelled my wrist, though I could still feel its woody - ambery sillage around me. Strange, I thought! Then I realised how synthetics play this game. They are unable to bind to the skin's oils like natural essential oils so they will just float around where you sprayed it. The remaining sillage felt strangely sweet, milky and ambery while still being woody at the same time. This woodiness felt like cashmeran, as its name suggests, a warm, cashmere-like, milky and musky sytnthetic skin note which was not so much present on the skin but on the clothing which had been in contact with the skin where I sprayed it. It was faint but still detectable upto eight hours after application. Having said that, the actual longevity will be no more than 4 - 6 hours. ~ CONCLUSION ~ I was pleasantly surprised by the composition, which is light, airy and sweet but because it has a marked woody - ambery feel, it makes it stand out somewhat from the countless fruity-floral synthetics. You can tell there are only synthetic ingredients as the fragrance doesn't react to temperature or with the skin's oils itself. It'll practically evaporate entirely as sillage so to make it last as a decent Eau de Toilette (6 - 8 hours), spray it on clothes. Synthetic fragrances perform badly in winter as their consistency is often weak, I recommend wearing it as an evening fragrance for summer nights or a dinner out where staying power is less crucial. ~ PRICE AND AVAILABILITY ~ I got my 30ml Eau de Parfum from CheapSmells.co.uk (based in Guernsey) for £10 + £1.95 international shipping this spring. Prices have dropped considerably since, you can get 100ml Eau de Parfum for £12.99 on Amazon.co.uk. Thanks for reading. ©powered by lillybee also posted on ciao.co.uk
