We have now come to the end of my reviews of my boyfriend's fragrance collection, as while there are a few I haven't reviewed they are not in dooyoo's catalogue. So perhaps I will do some more at a later date,
Having reviewed the Hugo Boss fragrance called "Boss" I am not reviewing the one called "Hugo" (also very imaginatively named".
This comes in a plain looking bottle with a red label on it, and quite a special lid with a little strap on it. It reminds me a bit of a hip flask. Unscrew the lid and there is a nozzle to dispense the fragrance. We have the 100ml bottle which retails at £40.25 on Amazon which is a reasonable price.
This is another quite masculine fragrance - they also do a version for women if you want to have matching fragrances. However, although I love the smell of Hugo Boss fragrances on men I will stick to my own brands of perfume for now.
This is described on Amazon as 'a blend of fig-enhanced zesty citrus, mandarin, lemon, orange and grapefruit' and 'Naturally warmed with notes of massoia wood producing this subtle scent'. It's funny how all these descriptions of fragrances seem to roll into one. At the end of the day it's very difficult to describe a smell, and many of these fragrances seem to be very similar with their inclusion of citrus fruits and woods.
This is a good everyday aftershave for a man, and the smell lasts well.
5 out of 5 stars from me.
The Hugo Boss HUGO Eau de Toilette is available from GBP 40.00. The scent is available as 75 ml and 125 ml Eau de Toilette with an accompanying perfumed body care line.
The Eau de Toilette was launched in 1995.
The Eau de Toilette comes in a transparent glass bottle with a silver fastening and an olive loop. On the glass bottle is the product name. The glass bottle contains 75 ml.
The Eau de Toilette is described as follows. "The new fragrance from HUGO comes in a unique bottle and features an avant-garde combination of intensive fresh sea notes and a masculine forest accord. Green aromatic notes balance the aquatic top note and the unmistakable fragrance of apples."
The Eau de Toilette is fresh with an aromatic scent. The scent of green apple, mint and lavender can be noticed. The flowery scent of sage and geranium follows. A woody scent that reminds of fir can be perceived. The main accords are aromatic and spicy. The scent is not too intensive and the intensity tends to be moderate.
The top notes are lavender, green apple, mint, grapefruit and basil. Followed by the middle notes carnation, sage, geranium and jasmine. The base note consists of patchouli, fir and cedar.
The Eau de Toilette is long-lasting. The longevity is moderate.
I can recommend the Hugo Boss HUGO Eau de Toilette, as the fresh scent is long-lasting. The main accords are aromatic and fresh spicy. The scent of green apples and mint can be noticed.
Hugo Boss over the past years has become an ever growing brand. I have always been a fan of Hugo boss fragrances, for its cool and refreshing smell. A huge number of people have heard of Hugo Boss fragrances, but few appreciate its quality.
Like all other things i shop around for this sort of product, because the price can vary. I say Vary, but many places that sell these kinds of products ask way too much, and it seems to me that it is unfair on the common man such as myself, trying to buy himself a little treat! If you know where to look, you can pick up a bottle of Hugo boss for only £20! Instead of paying the typical £40 and above, and this is for a full size bottle bot just a tester.
The fragrance comes in a standard looking bottle, with a grey screw cap which is attached to the bottle. I do like that the bottle is standard, some fragrances do tend to try and go all out when creating a bottle style, and quite honestly some of them look insane! I buy perfume and fragrances for their smell, not for how ridiculous you can make the bottle look!
Hugo Boss has been around since 1995, so it is evident that they are doing something right! The smell of the perfume lasts too, which is a rare trait for most fragrances these days.
My suggestion would be to give this a go, its cool refreshing smell will have you hooked on the great Hugo Boss!
I went on holiday last week via Heathrow airport. Popped into Duty Free with my wife to see if there was any offers. Quite surprised actually as there was, and the brands were good aswell. Hugo Boss caught my eye and this one, "Hugo". Just over 30UKP and came in a 125ml bottle. So for the money, this was great value.
So the scent, it was formed in 1995. It has been around for a good number of years now. I guess if something is successful then there is little point in changing it. The brand itself as not a young brand and your not likely to see teens walking around with it on.
The bottle: A fairly boring looking glass bottle. Nothing special to look at really, but then Hugo Boss is not the type of brand that does have outrageous bottles. The cap at the top is a screw cap which is attached via a piece of material, so you will not loose it.
So the smell is made up of various notes. Top notes are: Grapefruit, Green Apple, Pine Needles, Thyme, Spearmint, Basil, Cedar Leaves and Rum. Middle notes: Jasmine, Sage, Cloves, Lavender, Cedarwood and Geranium Leaves. Base notes: Moss, Fir Balsam, Sandalwood, Vetiver and Suede.
The scent itself, as I said earlier, its not for the young, so I find the scent is quite sophisticated. On my skin the rum and green apple pops out. I would describe it as fresh, watery, cool, citrusy and a stylish scent.
Duration: Always difficult to judge something when you buy it. Could be a strong smell but just simply would not last. Hugo I have found is not great but not bad at the same time. You would be looking at approximately 5hrs before it starts to wear off.
Overall for the money, I am happy with my purchase. My wife likes it aswell and gets her approval.
I had really liked this fragrance for a few years but had not actually owned a bottle yet until this weekend, I was back in my hometown of Taunton visiting a friend for the weekend and whilst in town I spotted an offer in The Perfume Shop, It was £22.50 for a 40ml bottle of eau de toilette and 50ml of the shower gel and as I had been put off by the price before I decided to take the plunge and buy the Hugo Boss Man gift set. I had run out of my Diesel Only The Brave and only have small samples of other fragrances so was looking for a new fragrance anyway. Hugo Boss Man is one of the most popular fragrances and was released in 1995.
**Hugo Boss Man**
This is one of the most recognisable fragrance bottles having been designed on an army water flask and the fragrance itself is extremely well known and is also a hit for the ladies as well as with the men who wear it. The fragrance normally ranges between £25 and £50 for the various sizes which are as follows, 40ml, 100ml and 150ml and you can buy Gift Sets in all these sizes. This is one of my favourite fragrances and is one of the most versatile on the market as it's scent suits a wide range of occasions. So what does it smell like and what do I really like about the fragrance to set it apart from the competition.
The fragrance opens with the lovely Top Notes of Green Apple, Grapefruit and Basil. These combine to give a fruity scent which has a hint of herb. They combine well to suck you in with the overall scent which is instantly likeable and progresses superbly. The scent actually moves into the Heart notes fairly quickly.
The fragrance gets a slight kick with the lovely aromatic heart notes of sage and jasmine which takes the herbal feel to the next level with a slight spice to it as well which compliments the scent well. You get the subtle yet noticeable change from the fruity top notes to the more spicy heart notes.
We end the fragrance with the Base notes of fir balsam, cedarwood and patchouli. These combine to give the most memorable part of the fragrance which is woody and continues the herbal tone as well to give a very distinctive and slightly musky scent which impresses.
This fragrance is really fresh and works well for many different settings, it's light enough for everyday use maybe at work or on a night out as it will impress those around you who catch a whiff of it. It is a quality fragrance so you don't need to spray all that much for it to have an effect and for the fragrance to be suitably fragrant. I would recommend the fragrance for males between the ages of 18 and 45 so quite a big age range there which is another plus point over rivals. This fragrance smells lovely, lasts well and you can find some good deals if you look around. If you haven't tried this one yet then give it a go and if you like this then check out the other products in the range.
