Sleek, sexy and smells amazing (just like me!!) (Hugo Boss: Hugo Deep Red, Eau de Parfum)

Advantages: Smells great, nice bottle, lasts a while

As a rule I'm not faithful to any brand of perfume. If I buy a bottle, or its gifted to me, I tend just to use it until its done (provided I like it!) then move on to something else. However Hugo Boss Red is one of only two perfumes that I've purchased a second bottle of (the other being Lacoste Touch of Sun) because I love the scent so much.

I first purchased this perfume a few years ago from a Boots store. I was wandering past the perfume counter and sprayed myself with a tester bottle. I can't recall why, or why I chose this perfume as I certainly wasn't looking to buy one, but I found myself sniffing at my wrists all day so went back the next day and purchased a 30ml bottle.


++THE BOTTLE++

The bottle itself is an attractive feature and looks great on any dressing table. It has apparently been inspired by high heels and champagne glasses. It has a wide bottom and sleek curvy sides that are wonderfully smooth, The glass is red frosted and the lid is silver plastic that just clicks on and off. The information about the product is on the bottom of the bottle, leaving it otherwise clutter free. Its elegant and feminine yet the red glass gives it an air of mystique and sensuality.


++THE SCENT++

The Hugo Boss website states that the top notes are Clementine, blood orange and blackcurrant, the heart notes are freesia, pittosporum and ginger flower, and the base notes are sandalwood, cedar and vanilla.

To be honest I'm not that into perfume as such and don't really "get" the whole note thing. When I smell this perfume, I can detect musk, vanilla and orange. I can also get a floral scent from it. Sometimes I think it smells quite chocolate-y, I think this comes from the vanilla!

It has a really pleasant and distinctive smell; if someone else walked into a room wearing this, I would recognise it. I've been complimented a lot on it aswell, I don't think it's a hugely popular perfume so its not a scent that people come across every day.


++WHEN TO WEAR IT++

Hugo Boss say that this perfume is "for women who revel in the night, she feels free to express her passion and sensuality." To be honest though, I prefer this for revelling in the day as I don't think it suits me as a night perfume. It is quite musky though, so it may suit some people - I'm a great believer that perfume is a personal thing in that what suits one person might not suit the next! I also prefer it as a winter perfume as it has a heavy muskiness to it, plus the fruity scent can be quite Christmassy!!


++WEARING IT++

I stick two squirts on each wrist in the morning and find that it lasts until the evening. It isn't that strong though, so if you're the sort of person who likes to leave a trail of fragnance in your wake, this might not be for you. People need to be quite close to you before they smell it!


++PRICE AND AVAILABILITY++

This perfume is widely available - most large chemists will stock it, and it can be purchased online from places such as amazon. According to the Hugo Boss website its available in 30ml, 50ml and 90ml. I've only ever seen it in 30ml bottles, which generally cost about £25. It isn't cheap but most designer perfumes can cost a lot more than this, and a bottle lasts a while. I've had my current bottle about 2 years and I use it a lot during the winter. There's still around a quarter left so it does last.


++CONCLUSION++
A really pleasant scent that isn't too pricey. Highly recommended.
