Advantages: Long lasting, lovely smell
Disadvantages: I find it is a seasonal perfume
Hugo Boss produces a range of fragrances for men and women. This is a review for Hugo Boss Deep Red.
The bottle for HBDR has a circular base and the bottle gets narrower towards the top, where it is capped by a silver lid. The bottle itself is, or course, red with white writing on with the name of the perfume. The bottle has a spray dispenser. One issue I have with the lid on mine is that it is not very secure. It is fine when just being left on the side ready for use, but when I have taken it away with me, it rarely comes out of my suitcase with the lid on.
I find that HBDR has a very distinctive smell. It is quite musky and deep smelling. According to the website; 'It opens with notes of clementine, blood orange, blackcurrant and pear. The Middle notes contain freesia, ginger flower and ambrette. The warm sensual base contains sandalwood, cedarwood and vanilla'. I would associate almost all of these flavours with Christmas. I am amazed that people can recognise that many different aromas within one perfume. I personally only get the base scents. It has quite a warm and woody aroma and I can definitely smell the sandalwood. It is more of a 'sexy' perfume and definitely more suited to evening wear than day wear and I would say it is not suitable for younger girls. It is quite heavy when you first apply the perfume though not overpowering. You do not need to use much of it and it does last for a while.
If you purchase in Boots, a 20ml bottle of this perfume costs £29, 30ml for £39 or 90ml for £48.
Overall it is definitely on my list of favourite perfumes but is not an every day one for me. I usually only use this when we are going out for the evening and then generally only in Winter as I prefer something lighter and more floral for the Summer and during the day.
Thanks for reading.
