Hugo Boss - Pure Purple Eau De Parfum Pure Purple is one of the perfumes available for women in the Hugo Boss range and since discovering it, it has become a permanent addition to the ever-growing perfume collection in our bathroom. Why? I received Pure Purple as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago, my family knew I had a love of Hugo Deep Red and decided to get me Pure Purple for the simple reason that purple is my favourite colour! This turned out to be a good choice as I really like this scent and really enjoy wearing it. The Packaging Pure Purple comes packaged in a lilac square box. Inside the box is a really nice looking glass bottle. The bottle is triangle shaped and kind of twisted, it is purple at the base and gets gradually lighter towards the top. Decoration on the bottle is minimal with the only lettering being "Hugo" and "Pure Purple". There is a label stuck to the bottom of the bottle containing other information such as the size and manufacturer. I really like the bottle, I think it is rather sexy looking and due to its shape it is really easy to handle. How Does It Smell? Pure Purple has a lovely soft scent, it is quite sensual, yet fresh and fruity and for me personally it makes me feel very summery and happy. It is a sweet smelling perfume and in my personal opinion it very subtle and just 'nice' it is in no way overpowering. I find that if I spray Pure Purple when I get dressed in the morning, it will easily last for the whole day and often into the evening. I usually do about 3 sprays to my neck and upper body, the scent settles really quickly within a minute or so and although I find that the initial settled strength does wear off slightly over the course of the day I don't need to re-apply it unless I am going out and want the scent boosted. Price I don't think I have ever purchased Pure Purple myself as I seem to always receive it as a gift before I need a new one, however a quick search online tells me that it is available for £27.50 on Amazon for a 50ml bottle and also the same price for a 30ml bottle as the 50ml is currently (May 2012) on offer from £31. Would I Recommend? Yes, I would recommend Pure Purple, it is a lovely soft scent in a rather sexy bottle which I am enjoying wearing at the moment and I will continue to wear for the foreseeable future. Thanks for reading :)
This is a review of Hugo Boss Deep Purple Eau de Parfum. I love the Hugo Boss Deep Red perfume and have had a few bottles of it over the last few years so I was pleased to receive this perfume for my birthday from a good friend who knows my taste in perfume well. First impressions I love this perfume. It is so wearable. I don't have to save it for a special occasion, nor do I worry that I am leaving a trail of strong smelling perfume in my wake. I think it just gives a pleasant waft and as it's still 'new to me' I can still enjoy the fragrance on myself as you can get too used to the way something smells if you use it for a long time. What's in it? The top notes in this fragrance are of white cyclamen and nectarine, a pleasant fruity and flowery combination. Middle notes are black violets and floral bouquet which sounds a bit vague but builds on the floral theme. The base notes are amber and white suede with a sweet white marzipan which just sounds yuck! But it's not, honestly! Price A 50ml bottle is £24.45 on Amazon at the time of writing. A good price for a nice perfume and certainly one you can buy for the lady in your life with confidence. Packaging The bottle is triangular shaped with a purple base. It has the red HUGO label on it and is ideally shaped for a good grasp. The top is silver and gives a feminine feel to the perfume. Who would it suit? I think this would be quite versatile and someone in their 20s, 30s and 40s would safely like it. That's not to exclude youngsters and ladies in their prime who may also enjoy this fragrance. It is a safe buy that will be gratefully received by the majority of women. Verdict Whilst this perfume is floral I think it has a really modern take on floral. It is a long lasting and wearable fragrance that will gather many compliments as you wear it. It's not a perfume that chokes or turns off those around the wearer and will be one your friends will beg to borrow a squirt of when they smell it on you! Recommended? I do recommend this fragrance and suggest you take a look at it when you get an opportunity to test. It is one of my top five at the moment (I do own a lot of perfume!) and enjoy wearing frequently. Final thoughts The perfume is described as joyful, vibrant, modern and bold. I think it is a real crowd pleaser that comes with a top class feel to it with the packaging and the long lasting pleasant smell. It is a premium perfume and very feminine. The fact that it is so wearable will mean you will be tempted to wear this fragrance every day and not just for special occasions. It is a scent that intends to be enjoyed by all who wear and smell it!
I am a really big fan of the Hugo Boss range of perfumes, with Deep Red and Woman being my two all time favourite fragrances. Last year for Christmas, my now ex partner bought me a bottle of Hugo Pure Purple. This was a fragrance I had actually never seen before so I was quite pleased to have a new scent and couldn't wait to try it. The bottle is quite a unique design - it is a reasonably tall one which has a twisted effect, it looks like it has been half turned while the glass is setting (I hope the makes sense!). The base of the bottle starts in a purple colour and it graduates up to almost clear glass at the top, and the lid is a chunky twisted design also in clear. At the base of the bottle on the front we see the Hugo logo in large red capital letters ascending to the bottom and this really stands out against the purple. According to Hugo, dance and movement was the inspiration for the design, and the colour creates "the natural movement of a young woman's silhouette dancing in the street". I can honestly say this did not come into my mind but it is a nice appearance all the same. The notes in this fragrance are as follows: Top notes - Cyclamen and Nectarine Heart notes - Black Violet and Floral Bouquet Base notes - Marzipan, White Suede and Amber I have to say these are the strangest notes I have come across, and seeing marzipan in there I was a little baffled! Within a perfume I am never able to distinguish the different notes and can never pick out a certain thing that I can smell and this fragrance is certainly no different. I can't describe the scent at all, other than that in my opinion it has a floral type of smell and that it smells very cheap. I don't think there is any other way I can describe it. When using this fragrance I noticed that the scent faded quite fast which I have never found with my other Hugo perfumes but as I think the smell is so cheap that wasn't really a bad thing! I would say within a couple of hours I would have needed to reapply, but thankfully I wasn't anywhere that I needed to as I really didn't want to! Hugo Pure Purple is available in 30ml, 50ml and 90ml bottles and you can also purchase shower gel, body lotion, deodorant roll on and spray in this range should you so require. The perfume costs seem to vary where you purchase it from, I have seen it for sale from around £15 up to around £29 (obviously depending on the size) so it is worth shopping around to get the best price. All in all I really wouldn't recommend this perfume, and of course it is all about personal preference but I think it is a dreadfully cheap smelling fragrance and when paying that amount of money I would hope to have a nice smelling and much longer lasting scent. I will stick to my Deep Red I think! Thank you for reading my review :)
Another amazing find at Semi Chem had me getting my purse out again. Hugo Pure Purple Eau de Parfum, 90ml bottle for a bargain £12.99! I just had to indulge, and I may have a new favourite! Pure Purple is just that, everything from the box to the bottle and is a very individual and unique scent, perhaps how you would expect purple to smell if it were not a colour. The bottle is made from a heavy quality glass, which is purple at the bottom fading towards the top. The bottle appears as if it has been twisted, which is a great touch and feels nice to handle. It has the well known 'Hugo' logo in red on the front. I'm a big fan of Hugo Deep Red, so without being able to test this in the shop, I just went for it, and I'm so pleased I did. The first spritz of this is really different, it opens with a delicious fruity burst of nectarine combined with the lovely floral scent of white cyclamen. This does fall into the fruity floral category, but doesn't just stick with the typical notes, on dry down this is where you will be, hopefully, pleasantly surprised. After the initial fruity notes begin to subside, you will begin to detect the mid note which is a solitary black violet, quickly replaced by the base notes of amber and leather. My favourite part of the dry down is the addition of marzipan, very original, and gently sweet, you can really notice a sublte almondy scent. These notes are not your usual fruity floral, it does have a lovely depth and warm sensual quality, whilst still remaining quite sweet. I would highly recommend this for the summer, as I feel it is light enough for day time wear. I feel it may be slightly lost however on a night out as the base notes are not heavy enough to be noticed amongst other aromas that take over the night air. A slight disappointment is how long it lasts for an eau de parfum. I expect all perfumes should last a minimum of 4 - 6 hours, but I do not feel that I can still smell it after about 3 hours, perhaps that is just because I do find it a little difficult to identify perfume on my own skin after a while. I think that is mainly because you become accustom to your own smell perhaps. Would I make a repeat purchase? Yes, its a definite for me, it is light, but has a certain depth to the scent, many layers, and is very different to the usual fruity floral scents available. If you like your perfume sweet, but with a grown up twist, then this is definiely a perfume you should look out for. Note: These are my personal opinions, and as always, you should try out any new fragrances before you decide to make a purchase.
I cant even remember when I first tested this perfume out. I think it may have been lurking on my mom's shelf in the bathroom and I stole a sneaky squirt and thought wow this smells pretty unique. So I went and had a little perfume shopping spree with my Boots advantage card and this was one of the perfume I purchased. The Bottle: This bottle comes in a really pretty deep purple box and the bottle itself also has purple tones but I think a lot lighter especially when it gets towards the bottom. The bottle is a lovely twisted shape, nothing overly special but would still be a nice addition to your perfume collection. As usual at the top is the simple push down button to make it easy to spray on in a hurry. The Scent: After a look around the net I found that the main ingredients in this perfume are as follows: Cyclamen, Nectarine, Black Violet, Amber, White Suede and Sweet Marzipan and that Hugo Boss describes this as a sweet perfume made for day wear. Now I think this perfume smells INCREDIBLY sweet and the smell always reminds me of cherry bakewells, I guess that's the marzipan scent coming through. This has got to be one of the sweetest perfumes I have ever worn and I do agree that in my opinion anyway it is much more suited to wear in the day as I just want something a bit more heavy and floral for the nighttime. Overall Opinion: If you aren't a fan of sweet scented perfumes you will most certainly hate this one and there is no point in trying it. However if your like me and like smelling fresh and sweet then I highly recommend this one to you. I really get the smell of cherry bakewells when I spray this on myself but I don't think that's a bad thing because it smells nice on me and I'm always getting compliments about it. This is DEFINATLEY more of a day wear fragrance I would say best suited to summer but then again what do I know right?! A 50ml bottle of this perfume will set you back around £17.99 on amazon.co.uk (not including P&P)
Shortly after Christmas my friends and I went bargain hunting in Dundee and we found ourselves in a shop called T.J. Hughes, right inside the door of this shop were a selection of perfumes and aftershaves at ridiculously low prices. After a good rake through them I picked up a bottle of Hugo Boss Pure Purple, the bottle size was 50ml and its usual price was £29.49 but here it was on sale for a mere £11.99 so how could I refuse? I had never really smelt this perfume but had heard from friends that it was nice and so at this price I thought it was well worth trying. Pure Purple I have to say was pure brilliant; the bottle is a very elegant twisty shape and it has a light purple tinge to the glass, so light it almost looks pink actually and it comes inside a deep purple coloured box. The scent is a quite original one in that it has some sort of floral tone to it but it is mostly sweet it actually seems to be changing as you smell it (if that makes any sense?), what I mean is that sometimes you will get the deep dark side of the scent and the floral undertones whereas other times this will seem to pass you by and you will get the light sweet top notes. It is a very, very difficult scent to explain but what I will say is that it is a beautiful scent and very long lasting, I could easily get 12 hours out of a light spray of this lovely perfume. Hugo Boss describe this as a day wear perfume but I regularly wear it for nights out as for me it is way too good to be wasted in the office. Available in three sizes of bottle: 30ml - £24.00 50ml - £29.49 90ml - £44.50 I am so glad I got it at the bargain price I did but I will now have to pay full price for it unless I can find it on offer again because it is running out fast and I have simply got to have more!
There were 2 reasons why I bought this particular perfume okay well 3 really...the first is the fact that purple is my fave colour of all time so it made sense to me, secondly I love almost all of the Hugo fragrances and the third reason was the price...as I was on the boat I got it duty free, but on top of that there was a sale and I for 90ml for the knock down price of £24 and considering its around £20 for 30mls in the shop this was the best bargain ever so I couldn't resist!! This particular scent was released by Hugo in January 2006 and once again they have not let themselves down. It makes you feel happy and energetic...pure purple is purely feminine, the perfect fragrance for the summer, its so good I would recommend wearing it either in the day or night no matter where you're going...you will fall in love with this scent, its also a favourite with my boyfriend as when I don't use it he notices and says "thats not the nice new perfume your wearing today" lol. The Hugo website describes the packaging as: HUGO Pure Purple looks the way it feels. Inspired by the beauty and energy of a woman in motion. It's sheer kinetic energy. The falcon is a graceful tringular helix of silhouetted purple tinted glass with the uniquely twisting sculptured motion as it rises to the raident transparent cap and reflective silver details at the top. The out packaging offers a light metallic finish to the softly textured purple, making it come alive. Not only can you get this is Eau De Parfum, it is also available as a shower gel, body lotion, spray deodorant and also as a roll-on deodorant. This is an upbeat fragrance resonant with mouthwatering floral accents. There are top notes of White Cyclamen, Nectarine, heart notes of Floral Bouquet, Black Violet and base notes of Amber, Suede, Marzipan. All of these combined make the one of the best smelling perfumes I have ever purchased and all of this just because I love the colour purple...im so glad I went with my instincts on this one and I would recommend it to women of all ages as it makes you feel refreshed and vibrant and happy and the scent stays with you all day long so no need for wasteful top ups through the afternoon...what more could you want from your perfume!! This fragrance normally retails at around £40 for 90ml, £31 for 50ml and £20 for the 30ml bottle, though it can be purchased for cheaper online for example www.cheapsmells.com sell the 90ml for £22.55, the 50ml for £18.31 and lastly the 30ml for the great pruice of £13.44 though out of all these options the best one to get is obviously the 90ml as you are getting it for nearly half the original recommended retail price. Also on ciao.co.uk under the same name =]
I recently was sent a free sample of Hugo Pure purple for women that I forgot I had sent for so I thought I would do a review on it (isn't it funny how we start to look at everything we use differently cos of this site lol) A little info for you.... Pure Purple perfume for women, made by Hugo Boss, was launched in 1993. All fragrance brands, (Hugo's) are owned by Procter & Gamble. There are far too many fragrances to mention, I'd be here all week! The Packaging.... Nice purple box with a photo of the bottle on the front and states clearly what the product is. The bottle is twisty and slightly coloured purple, the liquid is clear. Ok bottle, quite modern and contemporary, some may think its not particularly sophisticated for their dressing tables and I feel it is aimed at the younger market. The fragrance s described as.... This contains a blend of Cyclamen, Nectarine, Black Violet, Amber, White Suede and Sweet Marzipan. This women's fragrance is recommended for daytime wear. I describe it as.... FLIPPING GORGEOUS!!!! Sweet and deep. Lots of notes and lots of layers to it .To me it smells a little of Vanilla but looking at the description my nasal passages are lying to me and it must be the Marzipan mixed with the other ingredients according to Hugo's description!! Its kind of floral but then its not. Its one you cant work out, I'd be interested if anyone could describe it for me! It smells expensive, smooth, and to me doesn't match the image of Hugo or the bottle. When I put it on I thought this is definitely for night time but it takes a while to settle on the skin but and when it does I can see why it is described as a day time wear fragrance but to me I would wear this in evening for a night of seduction! As a daytime fragrance it would surely make a statement as it's not that light and I love heavy fragrances! I've been on Ebay tonight and ordered myself some! Its delicious, unusual, long lasting on the skin, long lasting in the bottle and I'm sure not a perfume everyone is wearing since the influx of 'celeb z listers perfumes'. I'd recommend this for someone who likes to make a statement and has a sophisticated palette! Truly beautiful and stylish! but Hugo.... Sort the packaging out eh! Available in....Boots (price list below) Eau De Parfum 30ml £24.00 Eau De Parfum 50ml £20.67 (50 per cent off at moment!) Eau De Parfum 90ml £44.00 This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
Further to my horrible experience with a tester from Britney Spears Fantasy perfume recently, I was a little bit dubious when this Hugo Pure Purple postcard dropped through my letterbox for me to try. However, as it's in the interests of everyone on reading this I thought I would risk it. Hold tight, here goes. ***Background*** Hugo specialise in both fragrances and fashion throughout the world for young, trendy and adventurous people. They are part of the Proctor & Gamble range of products which surprised me quite a bit as you tend to associate them with more cleaning products that the high fashion industry ***The Ingredients*** The top notes in this fragrance are of white cyclamen and nectarine and you can certainly get that hint of a mixture of fruit and flowers when you first apply this perfume. The middle notes are described as being of black violets and floral bouquet. This to me, makes the perfume quite sumptuous in fragrance. Strong but subtle at the same time. Finally we have the base notes where we find amber and white suede with a sweet white marzipan hiding in there. This is meant to give the wearer a feeling of full-blooded sensuality. As a whole this perfume is described as joyful, vibrant, modern and bold. ***The Bottle*** This is described as a triangular helix which rather makes it stand out from other bottles. As purple is one of my favourite colours, I wholehearted approve of the purple base which lightens as it reaches the silver reflective top. The twist of the bottle gives it a unique style. The box is a violet colour with a picture of the bottle on it and the familiar red and black Hugo label. ***The Range*** As well as the Eau de Parfum which comes in 2 sized bottles there is also Shower Gel, Body Lotion, Deodorant Spray and Roll on Deodorant. I'm well impressed with this as there is nothing worse than having to use different shower gel and deodorant to your perfume and ending up with a conglomeration of smells. ***My Thoughts*** When I first put this on I loved the initial light fruity and flowery scent that this gave off. I waited to see if it would all go wrong but I was pleasantly surprised as the deeper scents of the violet and suede gave it an almost musky fragrance. This is definately something I prefer in a perfume as sweet, flowery scents tend to set me off with a migraine. Ahhhhh!!!! Sorry I had a flashback to the Fantasy perfume again. There are no shouts of disapproval from my family with this one but then it's probably because it's a lot more subtle and expensive smelling. I've had lots of positive feedback from my daughters on this - they say it smells lovely on me. As I've only been able to test it using the small piece of fabric soaked in the perfume, I can't get a true idea of what this would smell like having been sprayed on although the fragrance has lasted me well for about 4 hours which is perfect if you are planning a night out. I probably wouldn't wear this one during the day as it has a slightly more sensual, night out, type of smell although it would be nice for a romantic lunch out. I love the idea of being able to co-ordinate the perfume with shower gels and deodorants and this would be a real plus factor in buying this. I'm sure there will be plenty of gift packs out there. ***Who is this aimed at?*** Since the advertisement shows a young woman in a summery dress, dancing through the streets I would say that this is mainly aimed at the young and beautiful - however, as I've been told this suits me then I must be young and beautiful too, ok or maybe just delusional. ***Price and Availability*** In Boots just now you can get a free body lotion with the 90ml bottle of this perfume for £39. A 50ml bottle will set you back £31. The shower gel is a whopping £15 and the body lotion sells for £17 so the offer is extremely worthwhile. The Deodorant spray is retailed at £11 and despite best efforts I haven't been able to find a price for the roll-on variety. Check online though for best prices as Fragrance Direct or Cheap Smells are often good for a bargain. Free samples of this and other Hugo fragrances for both men and women are available at www.hugofragrances.com.
"Hugo Pure Purple is inspired by an irreverent, urban and playful woman who expresses herself, feels free and takes it upon herself to be different. Hugo Pure Purple brings out the child in you, the spontaneous freedom of expressing yourself as an individual." (www.boots.co.uk) This being the version written for Boots, I feel I have to give a different one. This perfume is a very pleasant perfume, I am a big fan of the Hugo perfumes, however, I have not liked the other versions (deep red) so when this one was advertised I was not expecting to be impressed. With undertones of the Hugo original perfume and a fruity feminine smell I am impressed. It reminds me of Monsoon perfume, it makes me feel sexy and young again. The original I thought to be a unisex perfume, so to have a very feminine perfume from Hugo is good. Although it didn't make me feel different, or individual (being like Monsoon) I really did like this perfume. I would certainly recommend it. Priced at £31 for 50ml or £39 for 90ml at Boots with shower gel and body lotion also available.
