Hugo Boss - Woman, eau de toilette
40ml - around £26 and upwards
75ml - around £36 and upwards
I didn't realise I was a perfume fan, until my hubby started going on work trips abroad and I was introduced to the joys of duty free perfume.
~~~~~~~ the bottle and the packaging ~~~~~~
I was bought the 75ml bottle, it came in a nice red box, well packaged and the bottle inside is a circular shape with flat front and back, the lid is attached to the bottle on a peice of strong red ribbon, which actually - although probably only there for a novelty and to colour cordinate with the box, is a very useful thing, as I am forever losing lids, and in this case it would be a shame as I think this is a nice bottle to sit on my dressing table.
~~~~~~~ the scent itself ~~~~~~~~~
I consider this a beautiful day-time scent, it is slightly fruity - although I wouldn't be able to tell you which fruit it resembles, but it is a nice fresh smell. I am not someone that dresses up during the day, I work in an office and have to look smart, however I do like to smell nice and this scent is gorgeous. It is noticeable but subtle and it really lasts and I get compliments on my nice perfume, which is lovely.. A couple of light sprays during the morning and it can still be noticed at the end of the day.
I shall be disappointed when I get to the end of this bottle, but I think it will most definitely be replaced.
Every year I am treated to a new fragrance (yes I know it should be more often!), and one year I was very kindly bought this smart, fresh, eau de toilette by my husband. And I have to congratulate him on his excellent choice.
A simple, easy to hold spray bottle, with logo, however I did feel the design could have looked a little more feminine.
The 75ml costs between £20-£30 and is available at boots, amazon and Superdrug. It lasted for at least 9 months, and that was with everyday use. I found the scent to linger on my clothes all day, which was nice.
This perfume has a pleasant, peach, melon, jasmine scent making it not to over powering and suitable to wear feminine. The 75ml lasted for at least 9 months, and that was with everyday use. I found the scent to linger on my clothes all day, which was nice. It's definitely became a favourite of mine and I would buy it again every day (perfect for mums). I tend to be drawn more to floral smells, however this perfume does have a slight wood/spice element, which makes a nice change, without being masculine. It has definitely became a favourite of mine and I would buy it again.
When I was a teenager I wanted some perfume but didn't know what I wanted, my Mam decided to buy me a set of small perfumes so I could see which I liked and this perfume was my favourite from the 5. When it came to my birthday I was bought a larger bottle of this perfume and many more bottles since them too.
This perfume is available in 3 different sized bottles, 40ml, 75ml and 125ml, the 40ml costs £21.25, a 75ml bottle costs £27.95 and a 125ml bottle costs £35.85. These prices are from the cheap smells website which I do tend to find are the cheapest unless there are offers on elsewhere.
The perfume was launched in 1997 which is when I was 15 so it would have been a rather new perfume when I first got it, I think it shows that it's a nice perfume for how long it has been around. The bottle it comes in is circular and see through, it has the Hugo Boss logo on the front of it in red and has a silver push on top which is attached to the bottle by a red piece of woven fabric. The bottle is simple but I like the novelty value of the top being attached to the bottle and this is great for me as I always take the lids of my perfumes and then lose them.
I find that this fragrance is quite strong and I have found over the years that I now prefer a lighter scent, to me it smells flowery but musky at the same time although it is supposed to have a fruity smell I just don't smell it myself. The perfume bottle gives a good squirt on each press so you don't need too many squirts which of course makes it last longer, the perfume has good staying power although it doesn't stay strong all day, if I could have the perfume as light as it smells after a couple of hours I would be happy.
I personally wear this perfume in the daytime as I think it is too heavy for a nice night out however I have been selecting other pefumes to wear over this one more recently and although it has been a lovely perfume for about the past 13 years for me I don't think I will be buying it anymore.
This perfume was one of the first 'proper' perfumes I had as a teenager in the mid-1990s.
With notes including apple, water, hyacinth and jasmine, it is fresh, fruity and clean-smelling - very subtle and classy. It was my favourite perfume for many years, and certainly the nicest women's fragrance in the whole Hugo Boss range. An excellent perfume for during the day; it isn't overpowering or cloying.
Disadvantages? You may need to spray it several times throughout the day, the smell wears off relatively quickly because the smell is so subtle; any bottles of this I had never lasted very long because I found the scent wore off soon after spraying it.
This perfume may seem to be a little dated nowadays, and Hugo Boss have added many other fragrances to their range now, but for a pleasant daytime fragrance this remains one of the nicest. It would suit younger women and teens who want something that isn't too strong.
Hugo Woman is probably one of the first "real" perfumes I owned after the fragrances I used to wear many years ago such as the Charlie range. I remember smelling this perfume once when I was babysitting and immediately loving the scent and so I added it to a Christmas list and my boyfriend at the time bought me some.
Hugo Woman comes in a bright red box which features the name of the product in quite small writing along with a picture of the fragrance bottle as well. The bottle inside has a circular face to it but it is quite a thin bottle as well, it is not a sphere and it stands nicely on your dressing table. The bottle is made from clear glass and so you can see the perfume within the bottle and will know when you are running out. The bottle has a silver lid which has a red piece of material attached to it and the bottle so you've no chance of losing the lid with this perfume as it just falls down to the side of the bottle when you remove it.
For me the Hugo Woman scent is very sweet and feminine. I would suggest that probably this perfume would suit younger women because it does have such a "girly" fresh scent to it. I am thirty now though and still think this perfume suits me....though I am not sure I will ever grow up properly! I do struggle usually to pick out the individual notes in a fragrance so I have had a look online for your information and can confirm they are as follows:
Top notes: Wet moss, apple and cyclamen
Heart notes: Water, Hyacinth and Jasmine
Base notes: Sandalwood. Amber and Vanilla
To be truthful I am not sure what half of those things actually smell like individually but I have to say combined they really do make a lovely sweet fragrance which to me is immediately recognisable.
The perfume lasts reasonably well throughout the day as well considering it is not one of the most expensive fragrances out there and you will certainly be able to smell it after a good few hours. I would say for a night out it would need to be reapplied at some point in the night, but this is something I do with all my perfumes to be honest. The fragrance is not as lasting as my Chanel perfume but it does cost half the price so I would expect that!
I would use this fragrance as a day to day fragrance without hesitation as it smells lovely and is a very good price compared to some others on the market.
Thank you for reading my review!
Hugo Woman is a perfume I've been using on and off for about ten years. I got my first bottle for Christmas when I was fourteen or fifteen and have had a bottle in my drawer ever since.
Hugo Woman is one of a number of fragrances from the Hugo range, which makes perfumes for men and women. Hugo Woman comes in a round clear glass bottle with a plastic lid. It isn't the most amazingly designed bottle, but it is distinctive, simple and classy. It strikes me as being more casual than some perfume bottles I've seen.
The fragrance itself is classed as a floral, fruity scent aimed at the modern woman. The top notes of the perfume are fresh with wet moss, apple, cyclamen, melon and peach. The heart contains warm floral notes of hyacinth, jasmine and lily. The base notes are warm and spicy with sandalwood, vanilla, cedarwood and amber-like notes.
The perfume is suitable for both day and night time wear, although I prefer to wear it during the day as I feel it's more of a daytime scent. It smells fruity and slightly citrusy and is very light and pleasant. It is a nice summer scent but can be worn in the winter too.
The perfume isn't one of my absolute favourites, but I do like it and often come back to it. I think it would be a good present to give as a gift as it is versatile and I think it suits a lot of people. I feel it is suitable for women of all ages, from teenagers upwards. I got my first bottle as a teenager, and my mam, who is in her fifties, also likes to wear it.
Hugo Woman is widely available from perfume retailers, costing around £26 for 40ml and £36 for 75ml - so it's not one of the most expensive perfumes.
I made a product suggestion to add Hugo Woman but they rejected and advised that I post the review here under the deep red picture so here goes!
Hugo Woman is one of the first "real" perfumes I ever tried and it has remained one of my favourites ever since - in fact it is on my Christmas wish list this year (as it is most years!). The bottle is a sort of flat bottle, I say flat as if you look at it from the front it looks as though it is a sphere shape, but turn it on its side and it is flat and aroung half an inch or so thick. It is a totally clear bottle apart from the Hugo woman logo on the front which really stands out as it is in red. The lid is a chunky silver one and has the appearance of a screw top although it just simply pulls off. Attached to the lid is a red strap which also attaches to the bottle which makes it look really bold. I love the design of the bottle, it is simple and modern yet really stands out.
The scent of the perfume I would describe as a classic, but fruity and slightly floral one. It smells really fresh, combining the notes of wet moss, melon, peach, water hyacinth, jasmine, lily, balasamic resin, amber and cedar. I can't say that I can personally recognise any of the smells in there but it definately has a fruity smell.
I am still quite surprised that I love this perfume as I am not a girly girl at all and I would definately describe this as a girly perfume. The scent lasts really well and I find that if I put it on in the morning it lasts all day and I have never had to reapply. Initially I used this as a going out perfume, but I now wear it for work or just casually during the day.
Hugo Woman comes in various sized bottles, the main ones I have seen for sale are the 40ml at around £26.00 and 75ml at around £36.00. I think both of these prices are reasonable however I usually buy the 75ml if I am buying for myself as I feel it is better value for money.
I personally feel this is a younger persons perfume as it is quite strong and my mum who is in her 50s hates it and says it gives her headache! I am a huge fan of this perfume and cannot recommend it enough at all.
Five out of five Dooyoo stars!
Thank you for reading my review :)
This was 1 of the later Hugo scents I tried. I probably would have tried it sooner or later since I like scents in the range, but I ended up with nearly a full bottle of this from my cousin. She had got it for a present and didn't like the scent, so I got it all to use up for free. I sprayed this and although it wasn't my most favourite scent from the range, it is a nice one and more lighter and fresher than Deep Red and Intense from Hugo which are probably my favourite but they are more on the heavier scent.
I've only seen this in a 50ml bottle. This can cost in the region of £18-£25 depending on what shop you buy this from. Semi Chem, Bodycare and online stores are the cheapest way to get this, and it's where I usually get my scents after I smell them in the local shops.
The box is a square box and has red and white on it. It doesn't look all that fancy but again it isn't the most expensive scent. The bottle is different to the Dooyoo one, as that is a picture for Deep Red. It is just a circular bottle with a flat base for it to stand on. The glass is clear and you can see the clear liquid through the glass. THe Hugo branding is in the middle of the bottle and it's alright, but again not an expensive looking bottle. The lid is a little round lid.
So how does this smell? It is nice in an everyday scent. I would say it is more a daytime scent than a night time scent if you are into having different Perfumes, which I don't bother about.
After checking the notes I see that this is made up of Apple, Wet Moss, Water, Hyacinth, Jasmine, Cyclamen and Sandalwood. The mix of slightly heavier scents mixed with the odd lighter notes make for a nice fragrance mix and it all goes together nice. The scent lasts long enough as well, and after spraying this in the morning I can still smell this at night.
A really nice fresh everyday scent that smells quite expensive but isn't.
Perfume is a very tricky one to review, as what may smell devine to one person, stinks to high heaven to someone else! Having said that I will give my opinion on Hugo Deep Red.
It has quite a high price tag (on the high street) for approx £35 for 50ml ( just had a quick look on Ebay and you can get 90ml for approx £27!). It comes in deep red (of course) colour glass bottle with spray top. I have read some of the other reviews , who say that they are not over keen on the bottle. I must say I don't mind it, it looks nice on my shelf and after all ,it is not looks that count, right :0)
I love the smell ( I would probably say it is a evening scent), be careful not to put too much on, if I do this, it does tend to give me a whiffy perfume headache ( if you know what I mean). I would say less is more and it is also useful to remember that you do get used to the scent, so even if you don't think that it very strong, it may smell quite powerful to others. I tend to wear a lighter fragrance in the day and use this one in the evenings.
The smell is stated as ' A sensual scent of floral notes of freesia, ginger flower and tuberose enhanched with subtle tones of orange and blackcurrant and the depth of sandalwood, cedar and musk. Sweet vanilla contributes to the sophistication of this fragrance'- I would probably say that is pretty spot on.
I would say that the scent, is long lasting on the skin and would last all day and the last 50ml bottle I had lasted me ages, probably about 8 months, using it lightly ,nearly every day.
I wasn't too impressed when I saw the bottle of this product. For me it 'looked' as though it was a maybe too strong a scent. After applying it however I was pleasantly surprised by the softness and femininity which oozes from this fragrance. Its a rather daring mixture of oriental and woody notes which work harmoniously with eachother.
The bottle isn't to my taste, even to date.I feel it portrays too much maturity, although this fragrance is so fresh and invigorating it can easily be pulled off by teens without being overpowering. It honestly is one of the most flexible fragrances on the market.
I would not however use it as a daily wear fragrance. It is more of an evening fragrance, possibly because of the strong woody notes.Definately an item worth keeping for special nights.
The price may be a bit high for some but for the compliments one gets for wearing it,I would say its worth it!
I have been a fan of this perfume since i was bought by an ex boyfriend of mine, whilst i was in my late teens (now about 10 years ago!). I loved it from the minute I smelt it and it is still a a frangrance I wear now.
It is heavy, floral, distinctive scent that is more suitable for evenings, rather than daytime. It is good quality and tends to stay with you throughout most of an evening, rather then other fragrances I have experience of.
It comes in a good sized bottle, and is easily recognisable by its design and colour for those women looking to buy it (or those men who are buying it for their women!). It isn't the cheapest fragrance on the market, but i would say that it is worth the price due to the sophistication of the scent and the length it lasts on the body.
This is lovely perfume for women. I would say it has quite a heavy smell in the sense that a small amount lasts a long time. This makes it good for going out at night. I would say it's good for a girl in her early twenties who likes a floral, warming smell. It's not the cheapest perfume on the market but I suppose you get what you pay for when it comes to fragrances. The bottle is good looking and the lid is on fast if you take it away. I really love this perfume and it's become my signature fragrance. There's a lot more in the bottle than it looks and a bottle lasts me more than 6 months when using it more or less every day. I haven't tried many other Hugo perfumes but I guarantee that this is a hit. Defiantly worth a try when next out shopping!
I have to admit I am one of those girls who lusts after a perfume, buys it, wears it a coupe of times and then grows bored with it and so it sits there abandoned on my dressing table, amongst about 20 other perfumes that have suffered the same fate. However, I can honestly say this is the first perfume I have used every last little drop of without growing bored, and even went on to buy a second bottle. It is sweet enough to smell feminine without being too sickly and is light enough to be subtle while still being long lasting. I have received a lot of positive comments when wearing this perfume, perhaps another reason why I decided to buy another bottle. It is reasonably priced, particularly in comparison to other designer perfumes, and even better value when purchasing the bigger sized bottles, as it is usually only a couple of pounds extra for almost double the fragrance.
Hugo Boss Woman perfume is the only perfume that has amanged to stay in my collection for the past 6 years. As soon as this bottle has run out I am straight out to get another. It really is great value for money, I work at the airport and am lucky enough to get it at duty free prices but you can also get iton the refular high street at very reasonable prices from as little as £27.00.
The perfume itself is one I would say that is very strong - lots of musky tones to it and at first time of wearing I got a real hint of vanilla tones to it. At first spray I felt it was a very heavy perfume but it does wear off into a lovely faint scent that you can still smell hours later, gorgeous. I always get copmplimeneted when I wear this especially by men whcih is always a bonus and I think the majority of my friends own a bottle too!
Created by Hugo Boss, the Parfume Hugo Woman forms a balanced, fresh and feminine scent from a mixture of lilies, peach, apple and berries /
