Hummer is another EDT that is in my bathroom cupboard that I bought on a whim. As I've mentioned in previous fragrance review, a couple of years ago I decided to experiment with a number of different Eau de Toilettes (or is it Eaux de Toilette?). Anyway, I can't for the life of me remember why I bought this one. I know I got it online - from EBay I think - and I may have bought it because it was cheap. It's a brand of EDT that I'd never heard of before and certainly isn't main-stream, However it was a great buy because it's turned out to be another fragrance that I like a lot. A bit of useful (useless) information:- For those of you who don't know what a Hummer is, it's an American SUV (sport utility vehicle) that is a civilian version of the Military's Humvee, a squat, four-wheeled, ugly-looking (in my opinion) vehicle for transporting troops and equipment. Hummers are angular, heavy-looking vehicles which are no longer produced in America - when General Motors went bankrupt, the Hummer brand was bought by a Chinese company, but production ended in 2009. Packaging and design:- I no longer have the box for the EDT, but I can describe the bottle - basically it's like a brick. You don't get a delicate bottle with a small atomizer to gently spray the contents onto your face and neck, instead you get a heavy chunk of glass - with legs. It's very angular and squat, just like the military Humvee. It sits on two legs and on top of the bottle is a huge black and orange, plastic squirter that blasts out the contents. The orange atomizer section sits inside a circular black casing which has numerous holes around the top - if you've ever been to Amsterdam and seen the outdoor street urinals (apologies to anyone with a delicate disposition), then you'll understand what the black casing looks like. On the front of the bottle, it simply says 'hummer' in large, thick, black lettering. I find that I need two hands to use this - one to hold the bottle and the other to depress the atomizer. Description of the fragrance:- The description of this EDT:- Top notes of Cardamom, Thyme, Peppercorns Middle notes of Leather, Patchouli, Amber, Sandalwood And base note Tonka My experience wearing this fragrance:- When you first spray the EDT, which has a slight yellow colouring, it smells quite sweet and fruity - a very strong smell that is quite masculine. It then quickly settles down as it dries on your skin and after a while the middle notes start to appear. It still retains a fairly sweet aroma, but mixed in there's a certain spiciness and I can definitely smell a leathery fragrance. I've tried one or two other EDTs that claim to have leather notes, but to be honest I've never been able to smell even a hint of it. This EDT is different though. As for the base note of Tonka, which I understand to be an odour similar to vanilla, I have to say that I've never smelled this. On my skin it retains the sweet, leather fragrance, but as the day wears on it becomes less strong. Longevity, for me, is important in any fragrance because I don't want to have to carry a bottle to top up the perfume throughout the day (I certainly wouldn't want to carry this brick of a bottle around with me). Fortunately, this EDT does stay the distance. I can wear it all day and it's still noticeable at tea time, albeit a lot weaker. However, by then it's done its job. I just use two or three squirts in the morning - the atomizer is powerful enough to give good coverage - and find that this is strong enough for me. Price and availability:- I have the 125ml size bottle, but you can get this in 75ml and 40ml sizes. I really don't know if you can buy this in any high street stores, but it is available online. Cheap Smells currently have the 125ml size on sale reduced from £35.42 to £13.03 (the smaller 75ml bottle is slightly more expensive at £13.95) with free P&P, so as you can see it is economical. Amazon also sells this EDT but their prices are a lot higher. Conclusion:- Would I buy this again? Very probably. I do like the aroma, it's not expensive and it's strong enough that it can be worn throughout the day. It's masculine, what I would call a classic fragrance and as such I think it's suitable for day wear. Despite the cumbersome bottle I would give this a 5 star rating. Thank you for reading my review - I hope that you found it helpful
