I own a small collection of fragrances and this one is definitely one of my favourites.

I purchased this perfume with the help of a fantastic member of Boots sales staff. I wanted a perfume that smelt vanillary, as I often wear a body spray that is a vanilla scent but wanted something that lasted a bit longer. I was offered a few 'vanilla smelling' perfumes and this was by far my favourite and the sexy little bottle definitely helped.

The bottle is a deep red colour (the picture doesn't do the red justice). It has a black stopper on top to protect the spraying nozzle. The writing on the bottle is gold which is quite subtle on deep red. This bottle complimetns this luxurious perfume perfectly and looks fantastic on any dressing table.

The ingredients used to create this scent are 'Caraway, Bitter Almond, Jasmine Sambac, Moss, Jacarander Wood, Vanilla and Musk'. These ingredients create a beautiful, strong, sensual smell. As you can probably tell from the ingredients Hypnotic Poison is a very eastern smell but still with that beautiful warm vanilla fragrance. The perfume I feel is very distinct and not like anything I have smelt before due to it's spicy yet slightly fruity fragrance.

Now this fragrance is very heavy and strong and this is where I find people are divided by it. It seems many people find it way too over powering and quite sickly. However in contrast to this many people love the scent and I have been complimented on it on several occassions. You really do love it or hate it, so if you are considering purchasing it you MUST go and test it first. Also don't take this perfume at face value because I feel the scent really develops throughout the day.

The cost. Christian Diors Hypnotic Poison isn't the cheapest fragrance. Prices vary across the net from £25- £50 however Boots generally sell it for £38 for a 30ml bottle.

This is my winter perfume and definitely not one for the hot summer months (what are they i hear you ask). It lasts for quite a while but would need to be reapplied if it was to be worn all day.
