'The mystery of Dior's legendary forbidden fruit lives on in a magical, modern philter that blends femininity with boldness'.
Hypnotic Poison is part of the Poison fragrance collection created by Dior. This fragrance is an eau de toilette and there is a matching body lotion and shower gel available to allow the wearer to layer the scent.
The bottle design for Hypnotic Poison adopts the same, round appearance as the other Hypnotic fragrances. In this case, the bottle is a deep red colour with gold writing informing us of the fragrance name and Dior brand. A gold neck and dark coloured lid finish off the look. To me, it looks like a potion type bottle and is quite attractive but not overly modern. It is definitely well made.
Hypnotic Poison EDT has been created using different fragrance notes.
*Top note (the initial scent) - bitter almond and
*Heart note (the main body of the scent) - jasmine
*Base note (the finishing scent) - vanilla

It is fair to say that I am a huge fan of Dior products and in particular, the fragrances. Since they changed the formula of Miss Dior Cherie, it is no longer my favourite Dior fragrance. I absolutely adore Hypnotic Poison and have done since I received a miniature bottle as part of a Dior fragrance gift set last year. Sadly, by bottle is now finished but a full size bottle is on my wishlist for Christmas this year. For now, I am making do with some samples.
In terms of quality, Hypnotic Poison is amazing. The bottle is gorgeous regardless of which size you buy and it is one which any female would be proud to show off or have on display in their bedroom. It is such a unique and stunning scent. I favour this one over the original Poison fragrance. It has so much body and character. I find the 'Hypnotic' title to be very apt as the scent just is just so addictive, intoxicating and simply gorgeous to wear!
Hypnotic Poison is very addictive from the first spray - very warm and luxurious smelling. I don't like the taste of almonds but I do like the smell of them especially in a fragrance. The almond aroma is evident from the beginning and smells divine. There is a rich, warm sweetness with a bitter, nutty undertone. It is rather foody smelling and is flavoursome. There is nothing sickly or heavy about the scent despite being so rich. It is noticeable and distinct but not the strongest fragrance. I wouldn't expect it to be any stronger as it is an EDT rather than a more concentrated EDP.
The sweetness of the almond top notes is still evident on my skin after an hour or so and is still there as the heart note of jasmine starts to come through. Oh my, what a gorgeous smell! The heart of Hypnotic Poison develops well. The jasmine is lightly floral but ultimately very sensual. It mingles with the sweetness and this concoction makes for a rather sexy, indulgent fragrance. I love the strength of the heart notes. It is just right to allow the sweetness of the almond and sensual jasmine to be noticeable but not overtake each other or become too much.
After 2 hours or so, the fragrance loses the jasmine and the sweetness changes to reveal the vanilla. I absolutely adore the smell of vanilla and find that Dior have got it spot on here as the vanilla smells incredibly authentic and not the tiniest bit sickly. It is said that the vanilla plant is matured over 8 to 9 months and then the pods are harvested for a further 34months. The result is a very special, comforting and creamy vanilla aroma which is smells of a high quality. The sweetness of the vanilla smells gorgeous on my skin. After an hour or so, it changes a little and a deeper, sort of spicy sweetness is evident on my skin. The perfect way to round of a perfect scent.
In my opinion, Hypnotic Poison is well suited to being worn in the evening. To me, it is a rich, special fragrance which is too special for wearing for doing the nursery run! It is perfect for an evening out and I favour it for wearing when going out with my fiance as he loves the way it smells on me as much as I do! It may be a little much for warmer days but is perfect for warming up the skin on a cold Autumn or Winter evening. It is a rich scent but it is no way too heavy to not be considered by both younger and maturer wearers.
I can detect the sweetness of Hypnotic Poison EDT on my skin for around 6 hours which I feel is fair for an EDT. It does last longer on clothing. I always feel very confident when wearing this fragrance as it is suits my skin well and the fragrance notes used are perfect for me. I feel this fragrance is well priced for a high quality, Dior scent. I cannot really fault it as it smells so good! Highly recommended!
Thanks for reading :)
