Advantages: Looks great, subtle and complex

Disadvantages: None

I had a bottle of this product a few years ago (Which i'm sure was a damned sight cheaper than it is now) and loved it. It looked sparse and cool and it smelt like it too, it was simple but kind of like a great meal, different elements kept popping up during the day to remind me how complex and really unique this smell was.

Recently on the way home from holiday I saw a 125ml bottle in duty free for £34, as the cheapest i'd seen on the internet was £40 and I was due a new after-shave, I decided to buy this having sniff tested it again to be absolutely sure. I'm quite happy with my purchase and anticipate the 125ml bottle should last me at least 9 months the same as the last one did which works out at around £4 per month which is no different to my expenditure on deodorants.

The product looks cool, it comes in a box which is silver at the bottom and white at the top with a simple italic of the maker and name of the product, the bottle itself is angular and rectangular with a very large lid and simple wording on the bottle. It is almost marbled and feels very smooth. Unlike say the Jean Paul Gaultier bottle this would fit effortlessly and inoffensively onto any shelf and blend in, much like the scent.

The smell itself is the key thing here, it isn't overpowering, you won't smell it on the noisy banker (I said banker) who has flambéed himself in aftershave on the commute to work, this is a fragrance which mixes musk with spice and isn't afraid to throw in a woody undertone, there are also subtle hints of saffron and I believe nutmeg is also involved although I can't really smell this. The overall feeling is of a fresh scent which has a perfect mix of spice, musk, citrus and something of the sea air about it, I like fragrances that are strongest in each of these areas, but with this, each of these elements is uncovered during the day.

This is a subtle scent but it does work well, I can still smell it on the commute home and it smells different in combination with my body to the scent it was earlier in the day, but in a nice way.

The smell is king here and it is smart and really nice, my partner likes it, I like it, my little one isn't overpowered by it, and i've never had anyone ask me to tone down the sniff either on commutes or at work.

For £35 this was a good buy, it doesn't scream 'alpha male', but then I guess if thats what you wanted you could grab a bottle of brut and walk around eating McCoy crisps.

A smart, sassy smell with a cool understated bottle that is available in boots, superdrug, debenhams and other good fragrance stores but still gets people asking what it is, so it isn't too popular.
