I was walking past the fragrance section of a department store, when my friend mentioned that Jade Goody had released a fragrance and it had great reviews in some of the magazines, so we thought that we would go and try a sample. Knowing that Jade Goody was only famous for her stint in the television show Big Brother, I was not holding out much hope on this fragrance as so many celebrities have put their names on fragrances and they unfortunately never live up to the name.
It was a great fragrance as it was not flowery like a lot of fragrances, but was fruity with a gorgeous sweet scent, you need to be careful not to over apply it as it can be overpowering and become a sickly scent.
As I am not an expert on fragrance I have looked on a website regarding this fragrance and they state that the heart notes are citrus, bergamot and cassis. Whilst the top notes are citrus notes with bergamot and cassis and the base notes are pink pepper, cinnamon, cumin, freesia, jasmine, rose and iris
When we lifted up the box we were shocked to see that it was retailing at under £20.00 so I purchased a bottle and to this day I have not been disappointed. This is a great fragrance to wear to work as I have many different fragrances, but I do not really like wearing my expensive and favourite ones to work daily and Shh was great at £20 for 100ml or fragrance. This is a scent that you can wear day or night and it lasts for hours without you needing to reapply it.
The biggest problem I had originally was trying to locate another bottle as due to the racism row that Jade had on Celebrity Big Brother the fragrance was pulled from the shelves, but fortunately it is now back online and at a reduced cost of £15.00 which is great.
Overall a great fragrance which is value for money and I would definitely recommend this to anyone that likes a sweeter smelling fragrance.
I bought this fragrance some years ago, simply because I fancied a new perfume. I'm not one to be easily influenced by celebrity endorsements so, just because a perfume has a celebrity's name attached to it, I won't buy/avoid it (depending on my opinion of said celebrity!). As it goes, I didn't really have a viewpoint on Jade Goody - not a fan but not disliking her either - so this wouldn't have factored into my decision anyway. No, I chose this one because it smelt, well, different, and I liked it!
The perfume came inside a simple mint green box with Jade's signature and the perfume name Shh.. written on in black. Inside the box, the bottle was a simple design, made of thick glass in a sort of rounded-edged cube shape. There is a silver lid which is removed to reveal a silver spray pump. There is a black ribbon tied in a bow placed around the neck of the bottle, this is a nice touch as it instantly gives the bottle a more attractive look. Through the bottle you can see the perfume which is a transparent deep orange in colour.
The scent of the perfume is actually described as 'floral' which surprises me. It's not a fruity scent either, but I certainly don't detect much floral about it. To me, it smells very sweet and almost like the smell of a sweet shop on initial spray. This fades to a much more subtle scent (still sweet though!) almost immediately though so you don't have to worry about walking around smelling of boiled sweets!
The notes of this fragrance are as follows: Top Notes: Citrus Notes, Bergamot, Cassis Middle Notes: Pink Pepper, Cinnamon, Cumin, Freesia, Jasmine, Rose, Iris Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Vanilla, Amber Moss, Musk. The inclusion of sandalwood and musk surprises me as there is no real smokiness or muskiness to the fragrance at all. The vanilla and cinnamon are perhaps more easily detectable and contribute to that sweet fragrance.
I would say that this perfume was most suitable for day or early evening wear. It isn't a particularly light fragrance, so I choose not to wear it in summer (when I prefer lighter, more fresh citrusy scents). Therefore, for me, it is not a particularly versatile perfume and not one that I would choose to purchase again - simply because I don't really get the wear out of it. Friends of mine are also very split on the scent. It is too sweet and sickly for some, but others don't mind it - notably it is not a scent that any of them 'love' and it's not in my top 5 perfumes either. Basically, it's a nice scent at first but I grew bored of it quickly.
The fragrance is quite longlasting, so if you do like this and choose to wear it alot the bottle should last you a good length of time. You only need one or two sprays per application and this lasts a good day so you won't get through the bottle quickly at all. Online, a 100ml bottle costs between £14 and £20 which is a pretty good price. However, I would definitely recommend a try before you buy approach with this perfume as it is very specific and not to everyone's taste.
Most Christmas' I receive some new fragrances, and very often they can the most recently launched latest celebrity offering. Well back in 2006, when the fragrance Shh... was launched by the late Jade Goody, I was given a 100ml eau de toilette bottle as part of a Christmas present. It was one that I had tested in Boots prior to being bought it, so I was very happy to receive it as a gift, because it was a fragrance that I felt I would have chosen myself anyhow.
Although this was launched several years ago, it is still available to purchase on the likes of amazon, who offer a 100ml bottle for around £18, and the same online at the Perfume Shop. THe bottle itself comes in a light green (apple green really) box, with the bottle being fat rather than tall and skinny. One thing that I thought made this bottle look particularly attractive, was the silver lid, with the large velvet ribbon tied around it. I think it made the fragrance look more elegant rather than cheap. The bottle is a near cube shape, with rounded corners, taking off the sharp edges. On the front are simply the words 'Shh.... Jade Goody'.
Whenever you take off the lid of the bottle, the fragrance hits you instantly. It is certainly not one that you need to hold to your noise for a while. There is a definite citrusy scent to the eau de toilette when you open the lid of the bottle, although when you spray it, t is rather strong, and you do need it give it a few seconds to settle before getting the same scent as when you open the lid. I couldn't call the scent flowery or overly girly by any means, which is often the scents that I prefer, and it is probably a scent that you will either automatically love or hate. At first I did like it very much. I also find that when you do apply the scent onto your skin, it lasts for a good four to five hours, which is more than can be said for some other more expensive brands.
After doing some research, I found that I was right about the scent as the top notes in this fragrance ar ein fact citrus, alongside bergamot and cassis (neither of which I have heard of before). The base notes include freesia, pink pepper, cinnamon, jasmin, rose and even cumin.
I have had this bottle for 4 years now, and I am still using it. It never seems to come to an end, and although I don;t use it everyday, I am currently trying to use it up, to make room for the new fragrances I will inevitably get this Christmas. It is probably the longest that I have ever had a perfume for on my dressing table, as I find many of them simply don' last long, although I am aware that this a 100ml bottle, in comparison the to the 30ml/50ml that I usually get bought. I don't think that over these past four years the scent has really changed despite it sitting so long on my dressing table, although I have now grown to rather dislike the scent. It has lost its appeal to me, and when I am going somewhere special, I tend to use some of my other scents that are more flowery and sweet. I don't particularly like that citrusy element to a fragrance, and I cannot now wait to use it all up.
As I said previously, it is probably the kind of scent that you will like or loath. I liked it initially, then came to loathe it, and am currrently trying desperately to use up the bottle (because I just couldn't throw it out, given that it was a gift and with the cost of perfume nowadays). If you prefer scents that are not so flowery and have that hint of citrus, it is probably the scent for you, but if you prefer something more girly and flowery then I would try something else.
Jade Goody shot into everyone's lives with that famous snap shot of her in the Big Brother House naked on the sofa! Since then Jade had become one of Britains most loved and hated reality TV star. It was inevitable that she would finally release a perfume, like so many before her. When i recieved this perfume in 2006 as a stocking filler I only ever expected it to stand on my shelf and never expected to enjoy the smell as i did.
The packaging was much more than i expected and was simply delightful. The presentation box was a beautiful colour of green, and the simple black lettering made the box stand out more than any other perfume i had ever owend. In complete honesty the sheer fact that Jade had not included a picture of herself on the box was very clever and also very elligant. Inside the box the actual bottle was also very satisfying. Small enough to fit into most handbags and an unusual shape also made this perfume so different to what was already out in the market at the time. The pretty little bow around again adds to the elegance and sets the whole product off beautifully.
The actual scent of the perfume surprised me, It smells lovely, so lovely in fact this scent has become my all time favourite and one I seem to constantly have on my persons.
I would recommend this perfume to women of all ages, its a great gift and especially now a great memory of that lady in which one way or another all of us can relate to!
This perfume is cheap, elegant, floral and particulalry good quality.
I recenlty received this as a gift and was thrilled to bits, an initial reaction was interest yet high speculation that this wouldnt be a good perfume however I was surpisingly and pleasingly wrong.
Very elegant perfume, a little darker in colour than preferred perfumes however the scent is immersed with class, allowing one to spray contently over the body and not overpower.
The packaging is simple, attractive and opens to a sqaure bottle tied with a black velvet ribbon. Easy to use, cheap, affordable with the understanding that it has the added bonus of the celebrity whose name is on it actually had great presence and own say into the making of the scent, packaging and marketing of the product, unlike many other celebrities.
The preferable scent over Jade goodys other perfume controversial.
I would definatly buy this for a freind or relative having used it myself whereas before I would have been unsure.
For value for money, you can't get better than this gorgeous perfume.
You can pick this perfume up for as little as £15 for 100ml and it lasts all day and stays strong, but subtle till you get home at night.
It comes packaged in a gorgeous square bottle with a cute little black bow to finish it off nicely.
The amount of comments I have received wearing this has been unbelievable - I wear Angel, Chanel and Ralph Lauren and none have received the amount of comments this has.
I think it's a lovely fruity and fresh smell which really does stay throughout the day.
It's an excellent buy for work as it's cheap and cheerful but has the smell and look of something double it's price. Great to throw into your bag when you're in a rush!
Superdrug and online seem to be the only places which stock this now and I just hope that Superdrug keep stocking this wonderful perfume even after Jade has now gone.
i just got shh as a birthday gift today, yes it felt extra special as jade had just passed over to the othe side.. i always wear no 5 my fav, on opening the box n spraying her parfum on, like heaven had sent perfect scent.
wow it real lovely parfum a must try for ever woman.
R i pardise Jade Goody scent of a real woman x
would i go buy this again yes i would without second thought. it got such fresh cool smell about it plus it was a gift from a man which makes it more exciteing for the woman he had in mind on his mission to buy a gift as we ladys know men and shopping!!! they dont always get it right but in this case spot on. jade was a real life woman mother that why this is the scent for real sexy yummy mummys.
I am a secret lover of Jade Goody and when I heard about her perfume I must admit my first thought was 'please let someone else have designed this for her and not Jade herself.' When I heard the wonderful ingredients that were to be used in 'Shhh' I knew with the right mix that this would be a winner.
The ingredients blended in Shhh are amazing, with a base of vanilla, amber moss and musk to name a few this had a strong start, then with a topping of jasmine, freesia and cinnamon it seemed perfect.
I was bought Shhh in 2006 as a birthday present from my baby son (who knew 1 year olds knew exactly what mummy wanted, I have a feeling granny helped him chose!) When I opened the mint green simple looking box which simply read 'Shhh... Jade Goody' on the front I was surprised to see a clear bottle with a massive black velvet bow on the top. It was girlie yet classy looking.
Upon opening it and spraying that first spray I was excited and my the smell did not let me down, the smell of sweet vanilla is overwhelming but smells gorgeous, I would say this is very vanilla smelling and a lot of the other smells can't be smelt, the musk becomes more apparant after a few hours.
This is a fragrance a lot of people won't buy because it is by Jade but honestly they are missing out, it smells delicious and a lot of people do ask what it is.
Shhh is available in the following sizes 50ml and 100ml for the prices of around £15 for 50ml and £25 for 100ml. For that price it is worth having and I am hoping Santa refils my bottle this year!
During the festive season of 2006, my mom struggled to find a place that had this perfume in stock. I'm not sure whether it was worth the effort.
However, this review need not start on a negative note. The positives surrounding this product is that the box is really nice looking. It's a beautiful shade of green, which looks really posh in a bathroom cabinet or displayed on a dressing room table.
The packaging may be lovely, but the smell was not entirely to my taste. I found it to be far too musky, and when I wore it, people did not comment on it. Generally, if I wear a nice perfume, I get asked what I am wearing.
I'm not sure of the popularity of this perfume due to Jade Goodys dip in popularity, but ignoring that point, this is a good perfume for the fans of celebrity perfume,or people who enjoy a muskier smelling perfume.
Launched in June 2006 following the successful Living TV show Just Jade. This is the first fragrance from this ex Big Brother celebrity.
