Advantages: A gorgeous scent
Disadvantages: Perhaps the price but it is worth the money
**Jean Paul Gaultier Classique**
Still working through my perfume collection of the good the bad and the ugly. I've done the Italian Stallions, the Yanks and the good old Brits and now it is time to see what delights the French have produced. The perfume and designer in question is Jean Paul Gauliter. One thing this does have in common with my other perfumes is that it is again a floral sweet perfume.
**Jean Paul Gauliter who is he?**
Well Jean Paul Gaultier is a trendy designer known for his style and ability to dress women sexily. He was born in 1952 and put his toe into the fashion world in 1979 (before I was even born!). He is most infamous for working with Madge on her Blond Ambition tour and has dabbled in films too. The perfume I am reviewing was the first one he produced in 1993 and has been roaring success. He has created others including Fragile which hasn't been so popular as well as mens fragrances and a unisex one.
**The look and the scent**
The perfume comes in a silver cylinder that looks a little bit like a can tin but then you open the bottom to get the perfume out. The packaging makes the perfume one of the more expensive and some people like to collect them and leave in the packaging which is a bit of a waste of a good perfume. (I don't have the outer packaging anymore just the bottle). I found the fragile perfume was more interesting as a perfume as shaped like a snow globe so it's a shame it hasn't been as successful. I have bought this in other forms when department stores have done Christmas specials.
The perfume is in a bottle shaped like a female body and is frosted glass and it reminds me of that blond ambition tour with Madonna in the pointy booby dress. The nozzle is silver and there is a screw like top on the bottle and there isnt a lid as it is one of those eye hole type things to help aim the perfume spray through. The bottle is clear and frosted and shows the colour of the perfume through the glass which is a orange type colour.
This is a floral fragrance and is very light and slightly sweet although not overly so. It is classed as oriental and floral by JPG and ingredients include anise, orange blossom and tangerine, ginger, orchid and ylang-ylang, vanilla, musk and amber. It is recommend as an evening perfume for a romantic night out and I find that it is good to wear both day time and evening. It only needs a small amount spraying into the arms and neck and I like to spray this over jumpers too.
**Am I a classy Lady?**
Like I said classique was introduced to us in 1993 and has been a firm favourite of mine for several reasons as I love the scent, bottle and packaging. The perfume feels classy and timeless and the way that it is packaged makes it feel like a special and expensive perfume. The shape of it being that of the female form makes it look like it is going to be an alluring scent and the fragrance is nice on.
To me this perfume is light and smells sweet but not overly so and lots of people comment on how nice it smells on and have been spurred to buy this on recommendation and trying my own bottle. In the past I have even had the little miniature Jean Paul Gauliter perfumes which are ideal for the handbag.
**Recommend**
I would rate this perfume 5 out of 5 and would recommend it if you were buying it as a present for someone who likes floral fragrances that are a little sweet. I have been through a few bottles of this and it is a tad expensive and never seems to come down in price holding its worth but well worth my pennies! I have the 50ml bottle and it always costs me upwards of £40 for this delightful perfume.
Online shops will sell 50ml from £35 and the 100ml version from £50. You can buy this in any good department store or any online perfume shops like cheapsmells or fragrance direct. It is often on sale as a boxed set where you would get most value as you get a free item from the range to accompany your perfume for pretty much the same price as the bottle on its own.
Summary: One classy perfume that is a must have buy
