I've had JLo Love at First Glow for sometime now, and it's one of those fragrances that I like some days, and others, I really can't decided whether I do or not.
This fragrance is very similar to many of the celebrity scents out there, so much like Paris Hilton, and Britney Spears Curious. I think you get the general idea here. This scent is definitely targeted at the teen market, and not something you would think a woman of my age would buy. I was mainly seduced by the pretty pink bottle and box, and the price wasn't bad either. I was looking for a fresh summery scent and this caught my eye. It currently retails at around £15 for 50ml bottle of eau de toilette.
The bottle is very slinky and curvy, very JLo of days gone by in my opinion. The bottle is pink, and sadly has a phone charm attached round the neck of the bottle. The fragrance inside is pale pink also. The scent is very pink too, sense the theme here.
It opens with top notes of bergamot, neroli and peach and is very fruity but a little too sickly if you spritz on too much. These fruity notes dry down pretty quickly and are replaced by more serious floral notes of jasmine, wild rose and freesia. I much prefer the floral notes to the too sweet and fruity elements of this fragrance. These floral notes do tend to hang on gently to the full dry down.
Once this had fully dried down, which is pretty quick, you are left with the subtle scents of vanilla, a very light almost transparent musk that is barley there and the light blond woods. It is much nicer once it has dried down and the slightly too sweet peach has given way to the better floral scents.
I would recommend that this perfume is more suitable for young girls ranging from teens through to early twenties, anyone a little older may find it a bit too sweet and fruity. It makes a nice fresh daytime fragrance as it is not too overpowering, and since it dries down pretty quickly, it's not too offenisve.
This is where I argue with myself. I don't like how it smells when I first spray this, but I do quite like it when it has been on for a while. But this is where more dissappointment sets in, it is very short lived, even for an eau de toilette. Within only a few hours I can no longer smell this fragrance no matter how much I spray on.
Would I recommend this scent? Possibly as a gift for a younger girl/woman, but I prefer something a little more exotic and different. It's nice, but that's it, just nice, not something memorable or different. I had forgot that I even owned it, so that tells you something.
This is my personal opinion and I would recommend anyone who would like to buy this fragrance to try it first.
This is a strange one for me. I bought this perfume twice. The first time I loved it. The second time I bought it was a few years after that, and I really did not like it.
I remember it being quite feminine, and had a distinct flower smell to it. I got compliments from a lot of girls about how nice it smelt.
However, the second time I bought it, which was recently, I felt that it was quite overpowering and it smelt kind of cheap. It was a shame since I hunted high and low to find it since no one stocks it anymore (with good reason).
On the bright side, the bottle looks very cute on the dressing table. The shape of the bottle is supposed to represent a woman's curvy body. I don't quite see it myself, but it's still a pretty bottle to look at.
I found luck with this perfume! I first bought this perfume after I saw it in a Savers store, sold at five pounds for 30 ml (original price probs would have been between ten to twevle pounds so I found a bargain there!) When I first removed the bottle from the packaging the bottle was beautifully presented (it even included a phone charm! But It didn't have any thing to attach to on my phone so it ended up in one of my drawers.) I like the bottle and the color of the bottle was pretty (this was probs the reflection of the perfume though!)
However, the perfume didn't last as I expected it to. I finished the bottle within a month of use.
I even wore this perfume on a night out and I would use as a lucky charm on future nights out, as the first time I wore this perfume on a night out, I ended kissing a boy that I liked for ages, sadly our relationship didn't last but we still remain friends.
I liked the smell of the perfume, however, it wasn't strong, but it smelt nice, sort of fresh smelling with scented flowers such as jasmine and blossom with a hint of citrus, so this perfume more of a young smell. But it didn't last, so i ended up re-applying the perfume every now and now.
I may buy this product again, as a lucky charm on a night out as I ended up being with a guy I really liked! But I wouldn't probs wear it as every day use because it doesn't last long and you have to keep re-touching (which is something that I don't like about perfumes, I prefer ones that last long periods of time.) But it can be expensive in some places, but i was lucky to find it cheap!
I was very disappointed by LOVE AT FIRST GLOW. I've either loved or at the very least liked all of Ms Lopez's other fragrances (Except GLOW AFTER DARK). Since this is another GLOW spin off I thought I'd notice something along the original's clean & fresh theme...
... There's nothing fresh, clean or sexy about this; it's definitely a case of a spin off too far. I'm really struggling to describe the fragrance, it's just a artifical 'mess' of overpowering floral to me. I can't pick out the individual floral notes or the promised peach or vanilla.
I did get migranes whenever I wore LOVE AT FIRST GLOW, it's way too strong.
On the plus side; the lasting power is good & I found the Barbie pink bottle to be a cheery edition to my dressing table. (I was given a bottle as a gift, so had to wear it on occasion).
I read that this scent was marketed towards the under 20 crowd. Personally I think this is too strong a fragrance for younger customers.
Scent notes: Bergamot, Neroli de Provence, Peach, osmanthus, Pink Jasmine, Wild Rose, Freesia, Blond Woods, Sheer Musk & Vanilla.
I got a little sample of this perfume years and years ago now when I was wondering through my local shopping centre and after smelling that I went to Bodycare straight away and bought myself a bottle, it had only just came out then and it was pretty expensive but I think the price has lowered in recent years and I am gutted to just have read that this scent has been discontinued and I'm hoping that this isn't true.
The bottle is the same shape as the normal Glow design larger at the bottom and then gets smaller towards the top where there is the usual push down nozzle same as you get with most perfumes. The bottle is a cute pink colour and has the same J-Lo bling around the bottle as the rest of her perfume range does. The bottle is understated yet classy and would look a fabulous addition to any girl/woman's perfume collection.
The smell is very distinctive as with all of the J-Lo range of perfumes. It can be very sweet when you first spray it on but that soon dies down into a very fruity yet flowery scent that lasts literally all day especially on clothes. After a quick peek around the net I found that the main ingredients in this perfume are: Bergamot, Pink Jasmine, Wild Rose, Freesia, Vanilla & Georgie Peach. I don't think those ingredients really give you an idea of what it actually smells like though because that just sounded like I was describing an essential oil. The smell is very girly that's why I would say it is definitely more aimed towards the younger generation I would say up to about 20 years old. It is definitely a fragrance more suited to summer days because it is VERY sweet and just seems like a summery spray.
I am gutted that I just read this perfume will be or already has been discontinued because I will have to search for a new summer spray if that is true and I'm already in love with this one! It is a very feminine girly fragrance that lasts for about 6 hours on skin and even longer on clothes so a little goes a long way therefore one bottle lasts you at least 6 months and that's if you use it everyday and that means fabulous value for money.
As I mentioned earlier I would think this fragrance would be more suited to younger people and I'm pretty sure that is who it's aimed at because I think older women would prefer something a little less sweet and girly and more feminine. I recommend you have a tester of this first if it is still sold because different scents smell different of each person's skin so what works for me may not suit you at all. Perfect stocking filler for a daughter or sister this Christmas they will love it.
A 50ml bottle of this spray from amazon.co.uk will set you back around £11.99!
