I am hoping that I don't offend anyone by writing this review on Joop, All About Eve! It was bought for me as a present and I can't remember who it was from. I don't suppose it's likely that the bearer of this gift will read this so I'll go ahead and voice (write) my opinion.
All About Eve is not the worst perfume I've tried but it isn't the best either and not one that I would buy for myself. But then reading lots of perfume reviews recently, it's become clear that a women's taste in fragrance is as diverse as their taste in food, clothes and men!
I've had this perfume for some time now and although I've worn it a few times I've kept it in the box. I then wondered if perhaps I'd misjudged it, or if my taste had changed, so I put it on earlier today to give it a very fair trial.
Had my opinion changed? No! I think if someone were sitting next to me wearing this it wouldn't smell badly or anything but it isn't one I would choose to buy or ask for.
On first spraying it is rather strong and overpowering. The aroma I could detect was vanilla but with a more strong fragrance trying to be noticed. To me this scent on first use was quite cloying and it even irritated my skin, although I admit that my skin is sensitive.
After about fifteen to twenty minutes it calmed down and became more pleasant. After a couple of hours I could still smell the perfume and the overall scent seemed to me to be of vanilla, and I thought it erred towards being sickly.
I could smell this scent on myself throughout the day and kept smelling my wrist to see if it changed but there was very little change with vanilla always present. I found the smell to be annoying, although it did get slightly better as it very gradually wore off.
For staying power this perfume would score highly, as it would for it's unusual smell, but it's definitely not one of my favourites
The aroma is supposedly of, apple, jasmine, vetiver, vanilla with fragrances of oriental woods with sandalwood and patchouli.
The price of this fragrance seems to vary greatly. It is not as easy to get from the high street as it was one or two years ago. It is available from many on line outlets for prices of around £30.00 to £40.00 for a 40ml eau de parfum spray.
JOOP! is a designer clothing and cosmetics company founded by German fashion designer Wolfgang Joop. In 1998 Joop sold all of his shares. This company is well reknowned for making highly recognisable fragrances and have had a longevity that is rare in the fashion market.
This perfume is often described as playful, confident and sensual. This is for the woman who can be proud of who she is, she has a gentle heart but stands her ground.
I have been wearing this perfume for about 10 years and still love it as much today as the first time I wore it. Yes, it has been discontinued but is still available online at a few places. I'd say stock up on this gorgeous feminine fragrance before it is too late. I will be beyond comforting when the last bottle is sold. I
t's sweet, but not too sweet, a little spicy with almost, to my untrained nose, a vanilla and strawberry milkshake girlieness. It is by far my favourite perfume ever.
The bottle is, no surprise, apple shaped with a nod to Eve. The lid is a bit plasticy but this doesn't retract from the unfussy simple facade. In the 'Eve' range are the perfume, shower gel and body lotion...all very hard to get.
The scent is based around apples, peaches and flowers but it still has the seductive musky tones that draw people in. It is spicy yet creamy and reminds me of carefree days.
This collaberation of fruit, flowers and spice is absolutely delicious. I Looooove it.
This is my favourite perfume of all time and I am absolutely gutted that it has been continued.
When you first spray this scent on the skin, fresh bursts of crisp apple are accompanied by a sweet undertone of vanilla and slight notes of citrus. The scent then settles to release warm musky tones of cinnamon and cardamon, which lingers deliciously for hours upon end without any hint of overpowering.
The scent is so versatile, working from day to evening and from winter through to summer.
This is the only scent I have ever found that suits me and my skin and I have lost count of how many compliments I have had about my perfume whilst wearing it.
If you are lucky enough to stumble across a bottle of this gold dust give it a try, I assure you will not be disappointed. Either that or send it my way!
