Kate Moss Vintage Eau de Toilette
Advantages: versatile, pretty, floral, vintage feel
Disadvantages: cheapened by branding, plastic lid
I have used quite a few Kate Moss perfumes over the years because I find her fragrances are always very feminine and totally affordable. I'm not a huge consumer of perfume and I like to save money where I can so this always leads me back to these perfumes. This is one I received as a gift from my parents a couple of years ago for Christmas. I had been obsessed with the original scent Kate and was excited to try out this scent, Vintage.
The perfume comes in a stunning light coffee coloured bottle which has several square shapes cut into the glass. This was instantly reminiscent for my of 1930s art deco architecture and style. The very clean, straight lines and opulence of the bottle screamed retro vintage chic. This bottle also has a gold band around the pump, a silvery coloured metal pump and a coffee coloured plastic lid cut similarly to the bottle. I do this the bottle is effortlessly chic but the plastic lid does let it down somewhat and cheapens the overall feel of the bottle which is otherwise great.
The perfume is instantly a lovely fruity and floral scent. This is my favourite type of perfume and the reason I like Kate so much in the first place was the young, fresh, floral scent of it. The top notes are pink pepper, freesia and mandarin which create a lovely fresh and vibrant layer. The heart notes are jasmine, heliotrope and almond blossom which gives a lovely sweetness and deepens the floral tones. The base notes are musk, vanilla and tonka which adds an earthy layer and finishes with a sweet kick which adds another feminine edge to the perfume.
I think this combination of smells is very stylish and feminine. It speaks to me of the vintage glamour of a bygone era and is definitely well suited to the name of the perfume and style of the bottle. I think this is also a perfume that happily spans ages and is very versatile with seasons and times of day. I love that I can wear this as a warming perfumes in the depths of winter and a fresh light scent in the height of summer.
This perfume costs around £10 for a 30ml bottle and about £15 for a 50ml bottle. This is a really reasonable price for what is a lovely perfume. I do think the branding cheapens it a little because the design and scent on their own are stunning. This is somewhat inevitable with it being a celeb perfume but I just hope it doesn't put people off, because it really is lovely.
Oh, if you are wondering about the title then that's because ages ago a read a description of this perfume and misread 'essence of Kate' as 'essence of cake' - believing they had taken the essence of cake and put it in the perfume. Quite why I was so enamoured by that idea I'll never know, but it definitely had me wondering about this particular scent.
Overall, a lovely heady floral scent that is super versatile.
Summary: A beautiful scent from the Kate Moss collection.
