Summer by Kenzo
Another one of my kenzo fragrance minis that I have (See previous reviews for the other fragrances in the set). I have the 3.5ml version. Firstly it has a really cute summery bottle design. It has a gold lid and it is shaped in the form of a kind of leaf I think and on the sides it is orange and it just looks really really nice on my cupboard. The box it is in is also quite nice too.
This perfume is so perfectly named, as to me it is sumer in a bottle! It smells so nice, light, airy and it smells really nice and feminine. It contains the ingredients, Bergamot (A lovely floral scent), Citron (Citrus fruits) and musk. They all smell so nice together and it smells really floral. It is just so perfect for summer. It is not too heavy either and it doesn't drown me in a strong scent.
*Really nice summery leaf deign bottle and nice pretty packaging
*Light and airy scent and it didn't really smell too heavy on my skin
*You just need to use a bit of the perfume
*Good high quality brand
*Perfect for summer
*Lasts a long time on my skin/clothes
*There is also a body milk and body lotion in this range/scent
*You can buy it from strawberrynet and perfumechoice.com - but I have not been able to find it in boots or superdrug -which may be why it is not really well known
*Would make a great gift for someone
*It is currently priced at £29 from strawberrynet
*Comes in a miniature version in the gift set that I have but I bought it from royal caribbean when I was on a cruise last year, so I don't know where you can buy the mini sets from - but ebay would be worth a look
Thank you for reading my review
This perfume is a strange yet utterly distinctive offering from Kenzo. Forget the regular top/base notes jargon. This perfume can be summed up in one word-BUTTERCUPS. If you've smelt buttercups on a sunny summer's day, this is that scent captured in a bottle. I have rarely worn a perfume (apart from the ones that are flower extracts like the l'Occitaine range) that is so singleminded. Yet the experience is pleasant enough, and is excellent for the days when you just want to spend a warm evening out on the lawn with a glass of white wine spritzer in hand. The drydown is sweet and has green woody notes.
this perfume is so distinctive and evocative, the downside is I feel reluctant to wear this perfume except on a lovely sunny day, which has not been all that common in the past two British summers. Probably not one for the office, unless you want to inspire people to book holidays. And definitely don't wear it in winter with six months of dreary weather to go!
Another problem with Summer by Kenzo is it lacks the complexity of some of the more classic perfumes. The bottle, although pretty, is impossible to stand up in its intended position. A definite recommended buy, if only for the beauty of summer captured in a bottle, but I find it difficult to wear out.
