Disadvantages: None from me

I was on a shopping trip with a friend just before Christmas and we ended up in the fragrance section of the department store Selfridges. It is here that I tend to find the rather more expensive bottles of perfume and whilst I may never get some of these it is always nice to browse. One that did catch my eye was a bottle of the La Perla Blue fragrance. I had never seen it before and so put some on my wrists. I was walking around some time later and I could still smell the fragrance so I mentioned it to my other half and good as gold, I had a bottle for Christmas. What a lucky girl I am! Here are my thoughts on the fragrance.

The perfume that I have is the 50ml size; this will cost you around the £27.90 price tag which in my opinion is not a bad price to pay for a fragrance. I have certainly paid for 30ml bottles! I am not sure where my other half got this from, I am guessing it was on the internet and it is not one that I often see in the shops but perfume specialists will stock it and I also know that it can be found on Amazon.

The perfume comes in a cardboard box and the box matches the bottle. As the name would suggest, the packaging is all blue for this fragrance. The glass of the perfume bottle is tinted with blue and has the La Perla logo on the front. On the back of the box are directions for use and a list of the ingredients that have been used in the perfume. We are told by the brand that La Perla is a fresh and intense scent that expresses the soft and carefree side of femininity.

The perfume comes out as a fine mist and covers the skin really well. We are told that the fragrance has a mixture of lemon and bergamot top notes, middle notes of cyclamen and hyacinth and then base notes of iris and cedar. The first thing that I noticed when using this perfume was just how floral it was. Even thought it was the lemon scent that I noticed in the first instance, it was a floral blend that was the most overpowering, but overpowering in a good way.

The lemon scent was really refreshing and it was also sweet which I really liked, it seemed to work really well with the other scents in the range. I think the next thing that I noticed was the hyacinth, the middle note coming through. It reminded me of the rather large hyacinth bush we have in our garden, and this then made me think of the lovely spring and summer time, a great plus when it is a cold January day! The base notes then started to come through which was great, the cedar was very clear but not so much the iris. The great for perfume was just one of those scents that put a smile on my face.

The scent was very long lasting, I would put it on of a morning and it would still be present in the afternoon. The scent is ideal for daywear and for casual wear as it is quite a light scent and it is not at all overpowering.

In summary, I am really pleased with this perfume, for one that I have never heard of before, I am really impressed. Light and refreshing and using my favourite citrus blends with some floral notes, this is a winner for me and one that I would buy again.
