      something a little bit different

La Prairie originated in Switzerland. Today, the brand offers an expensive range of skin care (moreso anti-ageing products) and fragrances. ~Life Threads~ Life Threads is a collection of fragrances offered by La Prairie. There are six fragrances in this collection - Silver, Gold, Ruby, Sapphire, Platinum and Emerald. Each fragrance has a floral background with other fragrance notes blended in to create six different fragrances each with their own character. Life Threads Silver EDP is classed as a 'feminine' scent - an enchanting woody floral. There are no matching body products in the range. 'The fragrance of dreams and aspirations for days that can only be captured in silver'. ~Design~ Each bottle in the Life Threads range has the same body shape. A clear glass bottle is placed between two rectangular, glass panels. The bottle inside has a silver wire wrapped around it which adds texture and gives the bottle a unique appearance. The clear glass lid removes completely to allow the silver sprayer to be accessed. 'Life Threads Silver' is imprinted on a plaque to the front of the bottle. I personally love this bottle - it is classy, weighty and very modern in appearance. It is the sort of bottle that is a talking point. ~Scent~ Like any fragrance, Silver has been created using different fragrance notes. *Top notes create the initial scent - citrus, green leaves and golden bergamot *Heart notes offer the main body of the scent - Indian jasmine, ylang-ylang, pimento, orange blossom and tuberose *Base notes round off the scent - vetiver, solar musk, sandalwood and peppery moss woods ~Price~ Life Threads Silver is available in a 50ml size. It is stocked in House of Fraser, John Lewis and online through www.escentual.com priced at £74.00. It is approx £62.00 on Amazon. ~My Thoughts~ La Prairie is normally a counter I walk past in House of Fraser as the items are wayyyy out of my budget. My sister is a huge La Prairie fan and earlier in the year, she phoned to say she had bought one of their new fragrances - Life Threads Silver. I'm sure it was only released this year as she purchased it at an introductory price of just £37 - half the rrp! When I sampled it, I absolutely loved it. My sister (being the lovely sister that she is) returned to the shop that week and made a purchase for my birthday! I felt really spoiled! As you would expect, at £74.00 for 50ml, this would have to be something a bit special. Aside from the stunningly designed bottle, Silver is an absolute treat to wear and I always feel confident and special when wearing it. I don't wear this daily as I prefer to reserve it for special occasions and use my cheaper perfumes for everyday wear. One thing I must say about Silver is that one spray on my neck and wrist is more than sufficient to offer long lasting and noticeable scent on my skin. ~Live Life With Silver Threads~ As soon as Silver makes contact with my skin, the scent is highly captivating. It is full of intense fragrance and smells divine! The initial scent is very refreshing and this the perfect 'wake up' scent as it definitely refreshes my skin and mind. Silver is a feel good scent and never fails to make me smile and feel good when I am wearing it. I can detect a gorgeous citrus blend - sweet orange mainly with a zingy lemon trace running through it. The green leaves and bergamot offer a light airy feel to the top notes and the scent is always noticeable but not heavy or cloying. The sweet freshness starts to fade after an hour or so and makes way for a favourable and well presented heart. The jasmine and ylang-ylang offer a romantic, sensual feel to the scent and the other notes blend together to give off a light, floral bouquet scent. The main appeal of the heart is the way the scent appears to others. I notice a delicate sweet undertone whilst personally wearing this scent. When my sister wears Silver, the heart notes come through as having a sweet bubblegum scent for a short while. It sounds unusual but it is absolutely perfect and adds a playful edge to the overall scent. I can't smell it on myself but my sister can smell it when I wear it and likewise. The heart lasts around 6-7hours on my skin before losing the floral edge. The base notes have been selected well here and the scent completely changes. I personally love the rounding off scent offered and it sits on my skin so that both myself and others can appreciate it. The base combo is enticing thanks to the rich fragrance notes used. The prominent aroma is something woody and there is a subtle and welcomed spicy undertone. The musk isn't very noticeable which i preferred. ~Conclusion and Recommendation~ Life Threads Silver is a gorgeous scent which is more unique than scents such as Gucci and Calvin Klein but not quite as special as Silver Rain and Midnight Rain. I can notice it after 9 hours on my skin and longer on clothing. My bottle will last me very well with limited use. I do love the scent but unless it was reduced again, I probably wouldn't repurchase. I can recommend Life Threads Silver. It is feminine and has a lovely combination of fragrance notes which layer beautifully on the skin. There is a bit of everything - citrus, freshness, sweetness, floral and a lovely depth to the scent. I would say Silver is more suited to special occasion wear and by someone in their 20s upwards. I don't think it would appeal to the teenage market. 4 stars! Thanks for reading :)
