Times are hard for most of us and I for one am pulling my belt in extra hard, but from time to time I can't help but splash out on something purely on impulse. I had a tester of Lacoste Joy of Pink thrust in my hand on my way out of Debenhams recently and I adored it so much, I simply had to go back the next day and treat myself. Lets hops hubs doesn't read this!

Lacoste Joy of pink is the latest addition to the Lacoste Pink range. It comes in a graduating hot pink glass bottle that slims in at the sides so it feels very comfortable in your hand and it is easy to spray without it slipping through. It is finished at the top by a thick silver rim and a silver coloured spray dispenser. It has a chunky pink plastic lid which I think makes it look funky and very on trend to a young consumer.

When you smell this scent directly from a tester stick of piece of sample paper, it really is not all that pleasant - there is an overwhelming aroma of what I can only describe as grapefruit that it quite acrid almost makes your eyes water, however once it is applied to your skin, the scent takes on a whole different life. The initial scent is floral, exotic and slightly sweet whilst being fresh, uplifting and enlivening. It is a heavy scent which lasts for up to probably half an hour, after which the initial top notes fade and you are left with a less overpowering scent which continues to be feminine and floral, but also has a sophisticated cedar wood musk about it. I think that it is simply delightful and I love it - there is nothing strong and heavy about it at all and it is not the kind of perfume that is going to give you a headache if you wear it all of the time or if you are stuck in a small office with someone who is wearing it.

I think that this is a very easy scent to wear. I would say that it is possibly directed more towards the younger market with the packaging and the scent is fresh, young and very simple. I wear this during the day for work and also at night if I am going out and it blends in wherever suiting each occasion perfectly. I think that it is ideal for winter and all of the Christmas parties that are on the horizon, but I equally believe that it will float into summer with ease. This perfume also has a long lasting fragrance - I applied it in the morning and late in the afternoon, long after I thought the scent had faded away someone asked me what it was and complimented me on it which is always nice and gives you a slight confidence boost!

Lacoste Joy of Pink is widely available on the high street in chemists and department stores and also on the internet. I got mine from Debenhams where it is currently on offer for £25 for 30ml and you get a free shower gel and body lotion with it in the same fragrance which would make a lovely Christmas present. It also comes in a larger 50ml bottle for around £35, so go on, treat yourself!

Summary: A delightful new scent from Lacoste
