Advantages: Reasonably Priced

Disadvantages: Too sickly and sweet for me

It was pointed out in on of my previous reviews that I should not be reviewing on a sample sent to me in the post alone. With this in mind I headed off down to my local Boots store to see if the perfume in the bottle matched the scent and durability of the little square bit of fabric soaked with this scent. This is my result of that.

***Background***

The Lacoste brand and logo of the crocodile is well known all over the world but did you realise it was all down to a tennis player. Rene Lacoste was one of the winning European Davis Cup team way back in 1927 but it wasn't until 1933 that he joined forces with Andre Gillier to produce a sportswear line with that crocodile design on it. These days the latest tennis player to take part in their advertising campaign is the American Andy Roddick.

Of course it's not just clothing that Lacoste produce nowadays and their list includes eyewear, watches, leather goods and of course their extensive range of fragrances for both men and women.

***The Ingredients***

The notes in this fragrance are meant to represent the dynamic woman, one who is genuine and spontaneous. The top notes of this perfume are very fruity and consist of coriander leaves, blood orange and cardamom. Following on from these are the flowery tones of jasmine, violet and carrot seed. At the full depth of the perfume is a sandalwood and vanilla base mixed with a definite muskiness.

***The Bottle***

The bottle is tall and slender and is quite plain compared to other perfumes around. It starts with a deep full hearted pink at the bottom and as the bottle rises it changes to a soft pastel pink near the top of the silver topped spray container. It narrows slightly at the centre of the bottle and on the front there is the little silver crocodile above the wording Lacoste with Touch of Pink written vertically underneath.

***The Range***

Touch Of Pink has been around for quite some time now and there are a few different items in this range. Firstly there are the eau de toilette bottles, which come in 30ml, 50ml and 90ml amounts. There is also a shower gel, a deodorant and a body lotion to complete the set.

***My Thoughts***

I've been looking for a new perfume for daytime use for quite some time now and I was actually quite hopeful about this one, as I had heard good reports about it. I wanted something light that made me feel like spring was in the air even when it is still frosty in the mornings and rainy later on.

When I first tried this perfume I wasn't too impressed as the initial orange aroma was quite overpowering. As it settled down though the subtle hint of jasmine came through and I changed my mind. I started to like it. This thought changed again though as I let it settle and the vanilla in the base notes came through as I'm not really a fan of this and it actually started to give me a bit of a headache after an hour or so.

I don't like to find out what's actually in a perfume until after I've tried it to see if I can identify any of the ingredients myself. The orange was very easy to recognise, as was the jasmine, as I do tend to like perfumes that contain jasmine. The vanilla base was quite strong and too sickly for my liking, which ended up being the killer for me as it was very recognisable. Fantastic for anyone who suits this type of scent.

The scent does linger for some time and this was consistent for both the little bit of fabric and the spray of perfume too. Unfortunately this one lasted a bit too long and because of the headache that followed I had to wash the scent off. A shame as it had been promising for a while there. I shall have to carry on my quest for another light daytime fragrance elsewhere.

***Who is this aimed at?***

I would say that this is a very versatile fragrance and that even though the marketing is for a younger person, anyone including my mother could wear it. Of course as I say in all my reviews on fragrance, it does depend on the person, as no two people are alike when it comes to a perfume to suit them. I would advise testing first if you aren't too sure what you like. Not for me I'm afraid but not as bad as some I've tried.

***Price and Availability***

Cheapsmells.com seems to be the cheapest online at the moment for this range and they supply all the products I mentioned plus a girt set of the 90ml Eau de Toilette and 150ml body lotion for £32.04, a saving of almost £17 on the RRP. The 30ml bottle is at £17.55, the 50ml bottle at £24.39 and the 90ml bottle sells on here for £29.03. The body lotion on it's own is £14.25, the 150ml shower gel is £12.75 and the 50ml roll on deodorant is £9.95.

I wouldn't consider buying the extras but I suppose the gift set works out at quite good value for a present for someone special.

Summary: Not for me.

Sounds absolutely horrid! I'll keep away from this one, for certain.
