Lancôme is a luxury brand in my eyes but not one I had associated with beautiful perfumes until now. O de l'Orangerie is one of three similarly packaged fragrances (they seem to be a sort of series or collection). Whilst the other two were too heavy for my liking, this perfume is a beautifully light and fresh scent.
The packaging is elegant and looks expensive, as is always the case with Lancôme products. The outer cardboard box has a lovely green border with a silver logo, and the bottle is a textured glass design with silver plastic rim and spray nozzle, and a clear plastic lid. Disappointingly the silver plastic rim of the bottle I purchased cracked within a couple of weeks of use. This did not cause a problem when using the perfume but the crack was a little sharp so I had to be careful, and it was disappointing considering that Lancôme is supposed to be great quality.
I am a big fan of citrus scents and also Lancome so I was intrigued by this perfume. I was pleasantly surprised by the price of this perfume - for a higher end brand, it was very competitively priced. Add to this the fact that there was an offer of a free gift with a purchase of two Lancôme products and it makes this perfume a very good bargain indeed.
The fragrance itself is citrusy as the name would suggest, but it is not so light and fresh that it does not have any depth to it. It contains orange flower essence, orange blossom, honey notes, bergamot, wood and jasmine petals. It is a feminine fragrance, quite summery and light. The scent does not disappear after a couple of hours as with some perfumes - I can still smell the scent on clothes the day after the perfume has been worn. However it is not too heavy or so scented that it is irritating. Every so often you catch the scent as you move but it is not overpowering.
I have always been a Lancôme fan but this cements my loyalty - I am on my second bottle already!
