After Christmas I bought a set of miniature Lancome perfumes in the Boots sale. This review will discuss my experience with the Ô de Lancome fragrance.
The bottle is attractive if a little old-fashioned. It has straight sides and a curved front and back. The bottle has an embossed pattern and is clear so you can see the light green liquid inside. For some reason the bottle makes me think of North African design - I'm not sure if this was intended or not!
Ô de Lancome is described as being like "thousands of drops of water, like a cascade of refreshing notes". It is meant to be a light fragrance which evokes sun shining on the morning dew. The top notes are lemon, mandarin and bergamot which deepen to reveal notes of Jasmine Honeysuckle.
When I first tried this fragrance I thought it had a lovely citrus scent. It was light and fresh and reminded me of the summer. It smelled of lemon sherbet sweets and I thought it was delicious.
As time wore on, though, I wasn't so sure about the fragrance. The lemon sherbet smell was still there but there was a kind of musty undertone. I love jasmine normally but jasmine honeysuckle isn't something I've come across before. I don't know if it's this element itself or the combination of the jasmine honeysuckle with citrus that I wasn't keen on. It smells a bit old-ladyish after an hour or so and while it isn't unbearable or unpleasant, it's not a favourite of mine.
This perfume lasts around 5-6 hours on my skin, which is better than some but not as good as some high end brands.
***Price and Availability***
If you like this perfume, then it is excellent value for money at £53 for 125ml of eau de toilette. Compare this with other perfumes by brands such as Lancome and Dior which cost the same amount of money for 50ml - less than half the amount you get here. However I recommend getting hold of a sample to try first because if you don't like it that's an awful lot of perfume to get through!
This is a pleasant citrusy perfume that would be ideal for the summer, and is excellent value for money. However it smells just a little too musty on me so it's not something I'll be purchasing.
I absolutely love this. If you like fresh, clean, slightly citrusy scents then this would be a good one to try.
I wear this every day at work and it's not heavy at all. It is light enough to apply and not worry too much about it being overpowering even within a couple of minutes. It does need a re-application once or twice a day to sustain the scent.
It is a lovely frosted glass bottle and a lurid green inside. It smells predominantly of citrus, especially limes, and also in the background herbs and something a little more woody. Very much a summer or daytime fragrance.
I think this could almost be categorised as a unisex scent. It is pleasantly sharp and fresh and it isn't overtly feminine. It doesn't have any floral notes at all. This isn't to say I don't feel girly wearing it, but it's clean, light and fresh.
