This fragrance just screams evening wear to me and with the Eau de Parfum costing over £50 for a 50ml bottle it is not the smell of a night at the dog track or the cinema, this is a classy fragrance that demands to be worn somewhere nice and classy. The class and sophistication is highlighted not only by the contents of the bottle but the bottle itself. A lilac tint from the contents and the curved stylish lines of the bottle create the image of an elegant body hugging silk dress which flares out at the base.
There is a hint of vanilla in this scent but it is not overly strong, some people do not like vanilla in a scent but I'm more of the opinion that it can help a scent and is not a smell that I avoid nor do I seek it out in my perfumes, the overall feel of this fragrance though is of a spicey classy fragrance with a slight woody rich feel to it. Alongside the vanilla the other active notes are passion flower which gives it a lighter fruity feel and vetiver which gives it a distinctive mature feel.
This fragrance works really well on my skin and it smells wonderful, it takes a little while to settle down but when it does it leaves a rich sophisticated fragrance which is very long lasting. I never need to top this fragrance up while on a night out. It does change slightly over time and that is why it needs a little while to settle down so I tend to apply it early in the getting ready to go out process.
I like the fact that this fragrance is quite distinctive and has an original feel to it which is why it is one of my favourites, it is certainly well worth the price even though it is not cheap.
After Christmas I bought a set of miniature Lancome perfumes in the Boots sale. This review will discuss my experience with the Hypnose fragrance.
The perfume comes in a tall sophisticated bottle which has been twisted to create a simple but effective design. The perfume inside is a pretty lilac colour.
Lancome Hypnose is described as "the bewitching fragrance of a woman who knows how to use her charm to fascinate the man she loves". It is a woody, oriental fragrance that is chiefly made up of passion flower, vanilla and vetiver. Passion flower is a floral fruity scent that makes up the top note of the perfume. Vanilla is the heart note while vetiver provides a 'deep and intimate' base note.
I initially thought that Lancome Hypnose was one of the pleasanter and most distinctive scents from my miniatures collection. It is a deep rich scent that struck me as being more suitable for an evening occasion.
I thought the perfume smelled of a rich flower with woody undertones. Vanilla is one of my favourite aspects of a perfume, and one of the most familiar smells to me, but I couldn't really recognise it in this fragrance. It was overpowered at either end by the passion flower and vetiver.
Initially the fragrance smelled floral and quite heavy. It was a seductive scent that I enjoyed wearing. Over the course of several hours the passion flower wore off to reveal the vetiver base note. This was a woody scent that was deep and rich.
The longevity of the perfume was pretty good - around 8 hours which is quite impressive.
***Price and Availability***
The fragrance is available in the following sizes and prices:
Eau de Parfum
75ml - £64
30ml - £36
Eau de Toilette
50ml - £45
30ml - £34
As you can see it is pretty pricey. It is widely available at Boots and other department stores selling high-end brands such as Lancome.
I liked this perfume and thought it was distinctive and different. It didn't make me go 'wow' though and I wouldn't class it as a favourite. It might be a bit heavy for some people, but others might love it. Definitely a perfume for night time I think.
As far as I know this scent has been around about 70 Years, therefore proving just how much of a success this fragrance obviously is. I first discovered Hypnose quite a few years ago when I was rather young and fell in love with it from the very first spray! I even used to purposely walk into department stores and spray this scent on me just because I loved it so much, but at the time it was too pricey for me. After quite a few months I decided to finally go ahead and buy this beautiful scent and I haven't looked back since!
For me this is the scent I believe I will wear for the rest of my life, I always like to try out new scents and usually have more than one perfume but none have compared to this one, and while the others come and go there will always be a place on my dressing table for the Lancome Hypnose! Over the years I have found that with many other perfumes I have purchased I either go off them after a while or squirm slightly when I first spray them as they can be slightly unpleasant in excesses, but with Hypnose I would want to smell it all day! It's not too sweet; it is just a lovely strong sensual and sexy scent that is very alluring.
Not only is the scent such a beautiful fragrance but it lasts amazingly long too, which is very important for us women. If I sprayed it onto my clothes I would be able to smell it all day long and even for days after until it was washed! My mum used to always comment saying how lovely the washing basket would smell when it had my clothes in it. My partner also loves this scent on me too and comments how he can always smell it even when I can't. As most of us know we can get used to a scent and so may not smell it on ourselves but others still can.
The bottle also looks elegant, expensive and is beautiful in itself, and the purple colour of the perfume sets it all off perfectly. In my opinion I feel this perfume is reasonably priced for the amount you get as one spray goes along way. I have always bought the Eau de Parfum as it's more worthwhile to get a higher concentrate of scent that will stay on and last longer. I think my 30ml Eau de Parfum bottle lasted me about 5 months and that was using it everyday and usually more than once per day. Sometimes I would even spray my room and pillows with it so I think 5 months was good!
Overall, this is the perfume for me and after trying many other scents I haven't found anything that compares!
Lancome is a premium beauty brand offering skincare, makeup, perfume and mens products.

The bottle of Hypnose, is said to be a reinterpretated version of the Magie perfume which Lancome released in the 1950s. Four, clear glass sides sweep down in smooth motions joining in a square at the base. A crystal like lid sits squarely on the top etched with Hypnose on the top.
Hypnose has been blended with 3 fragrance notes which develop as the scent wears on the skin.

I love my perfume collection and am happy to own anything from cheap to expensive! Lancome is a brand I am fond off and its one of the popular sellers on ebay when I have it. I find them to be quite high quality and worth the premium price tags. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to wear many of the Lancome fragrances and have had mixed results.
At the moment, I have 2 x 5ml bottles of Hypnose which I received as part of a gift set on ebay. The bottle itself is identical to the full size except it is a dab bottle as opposed to a spray bottle. The bottle in my opinion, is a true masterpiece and looks stunning and expensive. The perfume itself is tinted lilac and when any light shines against the bottle, it looks so pretty. It is certainly one of my favourite bottles.
Dabbing a little onto my wrist and neck, I am immediately enveloped into a world of expense and high quality. There is nothing cheap about this scent and it lives up to the Lancome brand from the moment the liquid touches my skin. It isn't bright but it is engaging and sensually so. There isn't much variation to the scent but what is offered is strong and deep enough to be carried off effortlessly.
First of all, a wave of sumptuous, striking sweetness awaits me, It is beautiful and very intriging to say the least. It doesn't conform to most perfumes top note choices and manages to come across passionately. The enthusiastic sweetness is lightly infused with gentle, floral hints adding a new dimension to the opening ensemble. Staying consistent on my skin for an hour or so, the heart becomes known and is worth the wait.
The heart of Hypnose EDP impresses me and is favoured greatly by myself due to being vanilla. Vanilla is one of my favourite fragrance notes and it is unusual to see it presenting itself outwith the base of a scent. Vanilla, in my opinion, is a difficult scent to carry off as too much and it can be sickly and artificial. Alot of care needs to be taken to ensure the right level of absolute vanilla is added to encourage a natural, sweet aroma.
Hypnose allows the vanilla to be captured in its finest form. There is no extra notes used to counteract the sweetness so what you smell is what you get. The vanilla used here is perfectly formed to be creamy and rich. It packs a strong aroma but is smooth and indulgent just the way I like it. The sweetness creates a warming invitation to others as I have been asked what I am wearing whilst using Hypnose and everyone has commented how appealing it is.
I was sad to see the vanilla evaporate from my skin around 4-5hours after applying. It was favourable whilst it last but onwards and upwards and another transistion to the final scent that will carry me through til Hynose is no longer detectable on my skin. Vetiver isn't a scent I am too familiar with but it is certainly one which I plan on sourcing in other scents. The depth obtained here is admirable and the scent appears initmately romantic and sensual. The vetiver comes across as lightly creamy with a hint of woody-earthyness about it and is quite concentrated allowing it to offer a warm, pleasant aroma to those around me.
*~*Suitability, Recommendation and Conclusion*~*
Hypnose is a powerful, deep scent which has a generous sweetness. It lasts well on the skin and would suit any age group. Personally, I would recommend it be worn at night time due to its sensual, romatic qualities.
I adore Hypnose as it sits remarkably well on my skin and makes me feel confident and special. The bottle is stunning, the scent is beautiful on so many levels and lasts so well on my skin. There is certainly a high quality feel and smell to the whole scent and considering the price, this is warranted. My little bottles are lasting incredibly well despite me using this quite regularly so I would be more than happy to pay full price or purchase the gift set for myself or for a gift.
Thanks for reading :)
** Lancôme Hypnôse Senses **
I just appreciate the brand Lancôme and always like to try out their fragrances. Lancôme's founder, Armand Petitjean, aperfumer and cosmetist, has dedicated his life to his dream of giving women the most beautiful. He was fond of roses and grew them in his own garden in Ville d'Avray, just outside Paris. Because of his passion for the rose, is it not surprising that the rose is the symbol of Lancôme perfumes. His passion for perfumes has Armand Petitjean inspired to the spectacular step: in 1935, he launched Lancôme with five great fragrances. Almost all Lancôme bottles were created by Georges Delhomme. Today they are collectors items.
In 2009 Lancome introduced the perfume, eau de toilette, body lotion and shower gel of the Hypnosis Senses. Hypnosis Senses is a new variant of the previously released Hypnosis. Hypnosis Senses is meant to be sensual and has a mysterious beauty. This fragrance from Lancome is inspired by the beauty of the female body. This fragrance would smell like a sultry, sensual and romantic day. This delightfully scented eau de parfum is especially suitable for summer. The scent is fresh and invigorating. The smell of the fragrance has a floral note. The top of this fragrance includes, pink pepper and mandarin, the heart is rose petals and honey and the base is of patchouli, labdanum rose and tonka bean.
The perfume comes in a decorative glass bottle, something of a spiral path has. The bottle is quite slim and made of clear glass. In the middle of the bottle the bottle narrows slightly. The sprayer of the bottle is silver and then closes with a clear plastic cap. The fragrance is light pink and a light floral fragrance where after a few minutes you can smell the more herbal scent. The smell is not overwhelming but quite modest. I love it. The smell pretty is quite heavy and one or two little sprays is sufficient. The perfume is available in a 30ml or 100ml bottle.
This is a wonderful fragrance, it is fresh, although the smell of flowers. It is daytime and evening fragrance. I have a 30ml of this bottle of this perfume. There was also the body lotion, shower gel and of the market. The smell is in the first minute more flowery, but then becomes a the little spicier. With two little spray you have a one hour or five guaranteed to smell delicious. The price of the 30ml is 30 pounds.
Lancome Hypnose is a grown-up and sophisticated perfume, when ever I've worn it I have always recieved compliments. I first brought it after smelling it on one of my colleagues, I had to get it straight away. I wear it during the day as well as on a night out It comes in a twisted glass bottle and is a purple liquid. You do not need to spray a lot unless you want to choke those around you! Lancome Hypnose comes in a midnight blue box and is a woody oriental fragrance. Hypnose is a combination of passionflower and vanilla, and also has a woody base note with veviter.
Here come the prices:
Eau de Parfum:
30ml - £33.50
50ml - £47
75ml - £60
Eau de Toilette:
30 ml £30.50
As clutz I have a thing for dropping perfume bottles and unlike my chloe perfume, this one smashed on the toilet floor at work, which was probably good for everybody else as public toilets of any kind are not exactly pleasant. Luckily for me I had less than a third left in the bottle, otherwise I would have cried at losing £40 worth of perfume on a toilet floor. I would recommend Hypnose Eau de Parfum and just a little spritz.
I originally receieved my sample of this perfume when buying 2 skincare items from lancome and the trial bottle was included in the free gift bag. From this moment I have become addicted to this beautiful perfume. It has a very sweet and light feminine scent, and whenever worn I get comments from people saying i smell like the perfumed violet sweets??? i take this as a compliment as smelling sweet like candy must surely be a good thing. Its perfect as a daytime and evening fragrance. It comes in a stunning glass bottle and would look perfect sat on any dressing table.
Other perfumes I use which i find have similar candy/sweet smells are Vera Wang Princess, Miss Dior Cherie, and any pink candy products from Lush!!!
Perfect as a gift for a loved one (quite expensice so make sure you love them lots) or as a treat to yourself. I'm sure if you ask nicely at your Lancome counter they will give you a sample, if not just spritz on a tester. Beware of fakes abroad though, I will only ever buy from the U.K or Duty Free at airports as I once bought a bottle that turned out to be a fake, even though the price I paid was still relatively expensive.
**** Introduction ****
I have always worn Christian Dior Perfumes for as long as I can remember so this Christmas, I asked my husband to buy me something different thinking that if he like it that it would be fine for me to wear.
After un-wrapping a stunningly wrapped package on Christmas day I found that I had been treated to a Lancome Hypnose perfume gift set.
**** Lancome Hypnose ****
This I a brand I have seen advertised and alway thought that it looked really nice because of the stunning glass bottle, that is basically a slightly twisted tube of glass. The thing that made this stand out for me on first impressions was the heavy bottle.
The perfume is a lilac / blue colour and smells devine. it is a very light but sweet smelling scent that lasts for hours after it has been sprayed on to my skin.
I love this for both day and evening ware, so I feel it is suitable for many different types of people.
As I got this as a gift set, I got a 30ml bottle of perfume but you can also buy this in a larger 50ml bottle.
This hypnose retails for roughly £36.00 for a small bottle and a £48.00 for the bigger bottles in any lancome counter in any debenhams shop.
**** My Views ****
This is not something I would have bought myself but I have to say my husband chose wisely and I totally love it, both the scent and the bottle were very appealing for me.
I think this makes a perfect gift for a loved one of just a treat for your self, as it is a perfume that can be worn at any time.
This is expensive for a perfume but much cheaper than some brands, I have had this for a little over four months and I still have half a bottle left, which is very good as I wear it on a daily basis.
This is beautiful...beautiful packaging, beautiful bottle and a beautiful scent.
I first discovered this perfume at the airport, returning from my luxurious honeymoon in the Maldives. I was not in a particularly good mood, I had spent two weeks staying in such an amazing location and was about to travel back to the UK and back to reality (and the rain!) Therefore, I decided what I needed was a little pick me up in the form of an expensive but gorgeous perfume. Hypnose was the one I chose. As soon as I smelt it I knew I had to have it. It has such a distinctive heady aroma of vanilla. It's sweet but not sickly, it's strong, but not overpowering.
The scent does fade after a while, but not altogether. On returning to the real world and work, I had a number of comments on my new perfume. The soft, pleasant hint of vanilla lingers all day.
The bottle looks amazing on any dressing table and I was extremely lucky as my Lancome Hypnose perfume came in a gift set with a body lotion to complement the scent. I actually found that if I smoothed body lotion on first and then spritzed the perfume that the scent lasted even longer into the evening.
This is a perfect pick me up scent, both for day time and evening. It's definately my favourite by far and is on the top of my Birthday wish list! I only hopemy husband reads this and takes the hint!
I wasn't really looking for a new perfume when I came across Lancome Hypnose For Women in the Avon book that was delivered a while back. This perfume was the 50th fragrance created from the House of Lancome.
I rubbed my wrist across the scented page as instructed to create the perfumed smell. I liked the smell, not too strong, but strong enough to last throughout the day without wearing off. As such it is perfect for day wear or evening wear. With its understated tones of vanilla, slightly musky, it is a perfect perfume to wear at any time of the day and for any occasion. When you first spray it on it does come across quite strong, but it soon settles to a fragant vanilla which is far more subtle.
So I ordered it as it was on offer for £12 a bottle instead of the usual £30.00 for a 30ml bottle, or £44.00 for a 50ml bottle from the stockist Perfume4U. It is rather expensive but it does last a long time as you only need a small spray at a time.
The bottle itself is very attractive - a lovely glass bottle which is ergonomically designed to fit nicely into the hand as you're spraying it, and it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The twisted glass design glistens in the light which makes it look lovely and eyecatching as it sits on my dressing table.
I was looking for a new perfume and tried on lots of samples. But the HYPNOSE bottle first caught my eye! The unusual twisted glass shape and super shiny glass top shimmered like a jewel under the lights! It promised to make me feel very special! Every time I lift it out of the beautiful deep mauve box I feel amazed to be the person who is special enough to be able to own this beautiful thing. The fragrance is gorgeous, not too sweet, not bitter or musky but definitely brings out the vanilla, vetiver and passion flower notes. Something else too that is deep and sensous but warm - I just love it. When I spray it on, I have to hold my arm up and breathe in the wonderful fragrance.
However, later, much too soon, the dream is shattered! Well, not exactly shattered, it just slips quietly away to some unknown place and all the wonderful feelings that wrapped around me when I sprayed the lovely perfume on my skin, drift away as well. Within a hour or two of being at work, it has gone. Only the very faintest trace is left and that is hard to find. No one has ever said 'oh you smell lovely' as I waft past them and I have to wonder if I remembered to put some on before I left home.
Oh what a disappointment as I thought I had found the perfect fragrance for me - something very special that makes me feel like a beautiful woman - but only for a moment!
I was fortunate enough to be working in a department store when they were doing massive stock clearence with all brands of perfume being reduced. I managed to get myself Hypnose 100ml for a bargin price of £10, absolutely nothing wrong with it, they just needed to shift the stock.
Presented in a beautiful twisted design it standly proudly on my dressing table. The smell is something I had to warm to. Normally I like strong scents which last a while, Hypnose isn't a fragrance to last very long. The smell is very soft and delicate and slightly sweet smelling which could put people off. There is a destinct after smell which prevails through the initial sweetness.
Personally I think it is more suited to the younger market purely because the smell isn't very mature and a bit flowery. I still like wearing it because it is so light, but if it is intense you are after this is not it.
I would definately recommend going to you nearest Lancome counter and asking for a sample on your skin....NOT on a card because as we all know everyones skin is different and although we could be wearing the same perfume, I assure you it smells different on each person.
Light, flowery and cheap!
I received a sample of this perfume in a Lancome free gift and it is the only fragrance I use now. It is a powerful, floral fruited perfume with a heart note of vanilla and a base note of vetiver. It is strong so you don't need to use very much but it is not at all over powering and lasts all day. It is a very feminine and sophisticated fragrance and is great for special occasions or every day use. I would highly recommend you try this perfume because I adore it. If you don't want to splash out straight away without trying it, go to your nearest Lancome counter and they are always happy to give you a sample. The eau de toilette is a bit less expensive but not as strong, so I personally think it is worth paying a little extra for the eau de parfum.
