“ Brand: Lush / Concentration: Eau de Parfum / Type: Cream „
Lush make a number of deliciously-scented haircare and body care products that make you want to smell them all the time. They also used to make perfumes of some of these scents, ideal for people who like to sniff them all day!
One of my favourite Lush smells is the American Cream conditioner, which smells like a strawberry and vanilla milkshake. I snapped up the solid perfume with the same scent for the reasonable price of £5.10.
***What is Lush?***
Lush is a store that makes toiletries and cosmetics, using natural and organic ingredients where possible and minimising packaging where they can. It started out as a mail order company called Cosmetics to Go, but this failed and the new store, Lush, opened in Poole, Dorset. Later branches of the shop opened in London and beyond, and there are now Lush stores all over the world. As well as in store, you can also buy products from the website, www.lush.co.uk. There are similar websites for many different countries including the USA, Japan and Germany.
Lush buy ingredients only from companies that do not test on animals. All of their products are suitable for vegetarians and many are suitable for vegans.
Lush say: "We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud.
"We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again."
***The American dream?***
The solid perfume comes in a little metal tin which is the same tin Lush's lip balms come in. It is suitable for vegans and is made with a base of japan wax and carnauba wax, as well as Fair Trade organic cocoa butter to ensure that it keeps skin moisturised when it is applied. The creamy vanilla scent is made up of jojoba oil, clary sage oil, lavender oil and vanilla absolute. The product is very simple to apply: either scrape a tiny bit out with your fingernail, or rub your finger over the tub until it grows soft and you can apply it to your skin. It has the basic texture and appearance of a lip balm (though I don't recommend putting it on your lips!).
The perfume blends into the skin very well and can be applied in a number of places, such as wrists, temples, neck and even behind the ears! It can feel slightly greasy when first applied but this soon wears off. The lovely scent isn't the strongest, but I can definitely smell it and it's a subtle, sweet smell. This perfume is ideal for the daytime and in the summer when you want something that isn't too heavy.
The scent lasts around four hours on the skin, which isn't amazing, but most solid perfumes don't have the same longevity as liquid ones. Anyway, the price is so good (for a perfume) that I can overlook this small flaw. Because you only use a tiny amount of perfume at a time, it lasts for ages.
The solid perfume is the perfect size to carry around with you during the day, or for taking on weekends away. Also, because it's a solid you can take it in your hand luggage on holiday without worrying about being over your liquid limit.
I love this little perfume and would happily give it five stars. Sadly the American Cream solid perfume is no longer available, but Lush do have a good range of other solid perfumes in revamped packaging, available online at www.lush.co.uk and in selected stores.
I have this scent in both the solid form and the liquid form. I paid £4.95 for this solid perfume tin from Lush.
This perfume is lovely! It smells very sweet and fruity and it reminds me of a strawberry milkshake, yum! It does smell very fresh and summery. It's quite a sweet scent and it wouldn't be for everyone as I think it's an aquired smell. I love it though and I can't get enough of it. It smells just like the American Cream conditioner from Lush. The perfume comes presented in a small metal tin that's round in shape and you get 10g of perfume. This doesn't sound like a lot of perfume but you only need to swirl your fingers around the pot a couple of times to release enough of the perfume. You can apply the perfume to pretty much anywhere on your body. I like to apply it to my neck, my wrists and behind my ears.
The perfume can sometimes become too hard to apply, this is usually when the tin has been in a cold place. I would suggest warming the tin up first by placing it in the cup of your bra for five minutes - this theory does work!
The perfume doesn't feel sticky and/ or tacky on your skin and it doesn't leave any residue on your skin. The gorgeous sweet smell lasts all day and I expect that one 10g tin will last you well over a year - unless you go mad with it! The perfume has fantastic staying power but it's not an overpowering scent. It's a very unique (but wonderful!) scent from Lush.
I would recommend this scent as it's simply divine!
American Cream solid perfume was available for a good while in Lush and was a best seller until recently when Lush discontinued their entire solid perfume range to reinvent them as such. American Cream is a huge favourite with Lush customers (especially me) and it is always in the top ten when Lush has their yearly fragrance round votes on the Lush forum to see which scent should be made into a perfume for that particular year.
Like all Lush solid perfumes, American Cream was available in an aluminium screw top tin with 10g worth of solid perfume inside. On the top of the lid is the standard black Lush label with the Lush logo on it and stating what the product is (in this case American Cream). It cost £4.95 at the time and can probably be picked up for a little less than that on eBay or on the Lush forum.
The scent of American Cream is absolutely to die for and Lush regulars will know of it from American Cream Hair Conditioner and American Pie Jelly. It makes use of vanilla, strawberry, lavender and sage in its scent list but I have never been able to smell the lavender and the sage. For me the most prominent scents are the vanilla and the strawberry and it reminds me very much of strawberry milkshake. American Cream as a scent reminds me of that scene in Grease where they are sat in the diner drinking milkshakes. It has a very 1950's feel about it. It is another girlish scent from Lush but it is a smell that will leave you craving milkshake so do be warned!
Like all Lush solid perfumes, appearance wise the solid perfume has a waxy look to it and is not an overly pretty colour as can be seen in the picture DooYoo have of it. Do be careful with Lush solid perfumes in that you have to make sure the lid is screwed on properly otherwise it will dry the perfume out and render it useless. On the flip side do not leave it somewhere it will get very hot otherwise it will melt!
To use the solid perfume all you have to do is rub your finger across the surface and allow your fingertip to gather up a sheen which is the perfume. You then simply apply it to wherever on the skin you want it. I always use it on my wrists and my neck.
The American Cream solid perfume is quite a strong scent and lasts around 3-4 hours before needing to reapply it. It is a handy size as it is small enough to fit into the smallest of handbags for a perfume touch up when you are out and about.
Highly recommended if you can track it down.
I was recently a very lucky winner of a Lush goody bag and inside one of the items was American Cream solid perfume. I've smelt this fragrance before in the popular conditioner, but it's not something i use or have particulary liked an awful lot. But i thought, that was then, and decided to try it again and give it a fair review.
This is a solid fragrance which comes in a small flat tin. It looks like nothing but as a fan of Lush's other solid fragrances this small tin lasts a long long time, ages in fact! Its a perfect size to put in your jeans pocket or even the smallest clutch. Its just a bit bigger than a 50p piece. Each tin costs £5.10 and weighs 10g but they last months and months.
The tin lid unscrews to reveal a solid product, almost like a candle to look at. The smell is hard to describe as it it quite unique, but the strongest scent is that of vanilla and cream yet it has powerful undertones which I thought were slightly herby. The only way to describe it is like it's conditioner of the same name or even the shimmy shimmy massage glitter bar.
To use the perfume I would suggest rubbing your finger around it just to warm the product and loosen it up then apply to your pulse points; back of wrist, behind your ears and a little on your neck. That way every time you feel your pulse the perfume will drift into the air making you smell devine. It's just so simple to use, easy to carry and a bargain.
i'm not a big fan of creamy, vanilla scents, prefering fruity scents such as The Comforter solid fragrance, but i love the whole solid fragrance idea and think anyone who likes this scent should definitely invets in one, you won;t regret it!
I bought this when I was getting more of the American Cream conditioner and saw this by the tills... Just couldn't help myself! It costs £5.10 and is in the same size little tins as their lipbalms and sample creams come in.
Some people think the smell is a bit too 'chemically' and not quite right but to me this smells exactly like the conditioner - a sort of sweet vanilla scent. It contains cocoa butter and vanilla absolute and to me these are the most dominant scents from it.
It's a little bit difficult to apply as it's very hard, I find it easier if I pop it in my pocket to soften while I get ready and then apply it right before I go out. I just rub the tin itself onto my wrists and it leaves enough product to then rub on my neck. The scent is actually surprisingly strong and lingering - one application like this lasts me until sometime after lunch.
The solid perfume tin is much more convenient to carry around than a bottle of liquid perfume, this can just be thrown in your bag with no worries about it leaking everwhere. £5.10 sounds a lot for such a little tin but I've been using mine for about 2 weeks now and it doesn't look like there's any out of it so I can see it lasting a good long time.
If you're a fan of American Cream already this is a definite must, along with your softly conditioned hair and this you'll smell yummy from top to toe :) It's also a vegan product.
American Cream conditioner is amazing. It is the most delightful scent on the planet.
Unfortunately,it's not really FOR my hair. This made me sad.
Then I bought THIS.
This product is for anyone who LOVES the smell of American Cream conditioner but can't use it in their hair for whatever reason - it smells the same.
The scent is of vanilla - sweet as hell, but not overpowering. It smells exactly like a woman SHOULD smell.
It's solid (obviously) so to use you simple rub it over your skin or onto your finger then use your finger to apply. It's not difficult to apply at all.
This tin lasts for ages, because you only use JUST as much as you need,no more.
The scent lasts a lot longer,I find, than traditional spray perfume.
It also stays the same all day - IE : It dosn't start smelling horrible halfway through the day like SOME perfumes can.
One minor gripe, though - the lid of my tin got stuck,so I've had to make a hole in the top and now have to use the end of an eyeshadow brush to get it out - so,careful not to let it melt or the lid may stick!
American Cream is a gorgeous condition by Lush that has long has devotees pleading for a fragrance, and here it is!
Lush solid perfumes are a great idea...they come in small metal tubs, the same as their lip balm tubs, and are cocoa butter based solid perfumes...you need to rub your finger into them, melt a little and then put on your pulse points. The Lush solid perfumes were £4.95 last time I bought one, which is an absolute bargain because the scent is actually strong enough to merit only using a tiny amount, so these cheap little tubs easily last as long as a bottle of perfume.
In addition to this, the Lush fragrances are great because you know they are more unique, and less people are going to be wearing them than the latest fragrance by Britney/Sarah Jessica Parker or whichever celebrity is endorsing a perfume this week.
The tubs are small and neat and very easy to slip into a pocket, let alone a bag! There is no risk of them shattering in your bag, although there's more risk of losing them because they are so small.
All in all though, they are excellent value for money, if you do lose them they are cheap to replace, which is better than replacing a £50 bottle of perfume.
American Cream is a deliciously sweet vanilla scented fragrance that makes a wonderful perfume. it is feminine without being too cloyingly sweet, and it has a sherbet tang to it to add interest. It is quite a fresh scent as well as being sweet, and not overly floral. Its also subtle, you aren't going to overpower people with the scent, they will just catch delicious whiffs as you walk past!
American Cream is a long standing favourite Lush scent and this is an absolute bargain for a perfume...the small neat packaging, the gorgeous smell and the fact that these tubs last absolutely ages. Along with Potion it is my favourite Lush solid perfume so far!
American Cream is my favourite Hair Conditioner ever. Therefore when I saw this on the shelves I had to have it! At £4.95 I thought this was quite expensive but realised later that it was a complete bargain.
For those of you who are new to American Cream, it smells of vanilla and strawberries. It smells so creamy and delicious. I find that the solid perfume smells slightly different to the conditioner but this is not surprising as the conditioner is a liquid and this is solid.
Lush came up with a fabulous idea to release their favourite scents in solid perfume form. They come in 10g tins with screw on lids and the perfume has a waxy texture. For a bottle of American Cream perfume (limited edition) it would cost you over £30 so these are a real bargain. Plus they last forever.
The smell seems to linger on my skin most of the day and smells fab. I sometimes need to warm the tin up a bit before trying to apply the perfume to make it easier to get out.
Now I am a big fan of the American cream conditioner so when I heard that Lush was releasing it as a solid perfume I got all exited and couldn't wait for it to be released. I am still just as exited now!!
I love this the smell it is so sweet and milky smelling - just like a big vanilla milkshake with a big juicy strawberry on the top!!! Not surprisingly it has vanilla and strawberry in it but also lavender and cocoa butter to make it lovely and soft.
It lasts for ages too as you only need to smear your fingers over the top and then rub it in to your skin. My skin is very sensitive and it has never brought me out in a rash.
The smell lasts for a good few hours but with it being in a little round pot you can just pop it in your bag and take it with you!!
The pictures are quite misleading though because these come in the same sized pots as the lip balm and from the pictures I would have expected the pot to be bigger.
I really do love this smell and while it will never replace 'proper' perfume I find myself using it more and more on the days where I am just hanging about and going to the gym etc.
I alternate between this one and the Honey I Washed The Kids solid perfume so 1 pot will probably last me about 1 year - what a bargain!
Bringing out Solid Perfumes scented with some of Lush's most loved scents was a genius idea. They are a perfect way to smell like your favourite product all the time! The first one I tried was Potion and I liked it. And then I discovered the scent of American Cream and knew I had to have the Solid Perfume.
I think a Solid Perfume is a good investment. At £4.95 for a 10g pot and a use by date of about a year plus, the Solid Perfumes are money saving as you don't need to pay £30 plus for a bottle of scent.
American Cream perfumes smells of Strawberries, Oranges, Vanilla, Honey, Clary Sage and Lavender. It is gorgeous. I find that the Solid Perfume doesn't exactly like the scent of American Cream or any of the products that share its scent, but I believe that may be down to the base from which the perfume is made from.
The Solid Perfume is a brilliant size and is very practical- i.e. it can be carried in bags and pockets. I find that I don't need too much in order to smell nice. The Solid Perfume is hard so to get the perfume out and to smell nice either rub your finger round in a fast circular motion until you see some of the perfume on your finger or putting it near a radiator of fire for about 15 seconds and it will melt slightly- ready to put onto wrists and neck. I rub my little pot of perfume onto my skin where I want it to go and it scents it well.
I use my American Cream Solid Perfume just about every day and find that the smell lasts for quite a long time if you apply it the way I do.
On the Lush internet forum, where Lush fans come to talk about everything, including Lush, Jill and Hilary sometimes run some very special limited edition offers / Over the past couple of years, Lush fans have voted for their favourite product scents to be turned into bottles of perfume / American Cream always got into the top five / Naturally, our sweet but edgy vanilla and clary sage fragrance was one of the first that Wesley tried out in solid form / And here it is!
