“ Brand: Lush / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Parfum / Gender: for women „
As you can probably tell from some of my reviews I am a huge fan of Lush and their products. I especially love their lip products and also their perfumes. I usually try and buy a solid perfume every week or so as I find that they make great day time scents and it works out so much cheaper for me than buying a bottle which I save for only my very favourites. I bought the cocktail perfume a few weeks ago as it was one I had never noticed before so I am not sure if it is perhaps new. Because it was new I had to have it to try out and as they didn't have a working sample in the store I bought it blind so to speak. As I mentioned I bought the solid stick version of this perfume as I think that they offer such good value for the money which is £7.50 for a 50ml stick. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the scent of this as I am with the other Gorilla perfumes from Lush. Apparently according to Lush cocktail is supposed to represent those classic French fragrances so you would think it was a classy fragrance. Unfortunately I thought it smelt a bit cheap and didn't have the level of depth that the other Gorilla fragrances have. It is quite pretty and feminine but it isn't the kind of perfume that anyone is likely to compliment you on or even notice to be honest. The perfume contains ylang ylang, orange blossom, jasmine, cananga, rose, oakmoss and sandlewood. It isn't as flowery as I expected given the ingredients which is good as perfumes which are overly floral do tend to smell a little sickly to me. It is a very fresh scent and one that would be ideal for most situations. It is also really quite subtle and I actually had a hard time in picking up the scent without putting my wrist right to my nose which is unusual for Gorilla perfumes as they are normally on the strong side. I would recommend trying this perfume to see if you like it as it is very subjective but for me personally I don't think I would bother buying this again now I have tried it as although there is nothing horrible wrong with it, it is just a bit blah and there are so many other gorgeous perfumes to choose from at Lush.
I'm a huge fan of the natural cosmetics store Lush and am trying to sample everything they make. Last year they introduced a new range of perfumes - Gorilla Perfumes - some of which are available in store, and some of which can be obtained from the website. I chose a sample of Cocktail to go in my last online order. Cocktail is described as a homage to classic French perfumery. The overriding scent is ylang ylang, but the scent is also made up of lavender, bergamot, jasmine and rose with a base of sandalwood. When I first smelled it I wasn't sure about the scent. It was a bit fresh and clinical. However when I applied it to my skin I started to like it more. I could smell the aroma of ylang ylang with a hint of lavender. As time went on I could detect a faint aroma of jasmine and rose but I wasn't sure about the bergamot, mainly because I'm not entirely certain what it smells like! The perfume lasted for a good few hours and as the day wore on I could detect a hint of sandalwood. Initially I thought the perfume smelled a bit odd, and rather like cleaning fluid! However, it did smell better on my skin than it did in the bottle, though it was more like a daytime scent as it was so light and floral. However it did deepen as the day wore on so it might be a good fragrance to wear from day through to night - it adapts itself to the environment! I wouldn't say this was a favourite perfume but it made a nice change and I might consider purchasing another small sample size.
