Lush Honey I Washed the Kids Solid Eau de Parfum
Advantages: Smells gorgeous, portable, good value
Disadvantages: Use by dates
I was actually very excited with my last minute purchase though, it smelt absolutely gorgeous, I couldn't get enough of the smell and coming in at under a fiver for a perfume to me is amazing, considering an average bottle costs between £30-£40.
The Lush solid perfumes are actually the fragrances used in some of their products that are so popular and smell so delicious that Lush decided they were good enough to just be a fragrance that does nothing else but make you smell delicious. I for one love the idea, as it means you can smell like your favourite product scent, at a cheaper price than having to use one of the products it is in every day. The smells are so good that they compare well to other perfumes. In fact, since buying my Honey I Washed the Kids I've all but given up using my old perfume as I just don't love it as much.
So the fragrance that you might recognise Honey I Washed the Kids from (if you are a Lush addict) is of course the soap by the same name and the Ma Bar Bubble Bar Slice as well as apparently making a cameo as a shower gel at some point. Lush say they know which scents need to be made into fragrances by the amount of times they sneak into the Lush Range, so as you can tell Honey I Washed the Kids is a popular scent.
So what exactly does it smell of? It's a delicious honey chocolate fudge mix. If you like any of the aforementioned, or any sort of toffee scent, or simply have a sweet tooth then you are bound to love this. It also has a very simple undertone of orange but it isn't the scent that would come to mind upon first smelling it. In fact it was only once I knew it should smell of it somewhat that I could detect it upon smelling. It does add a nice little depth and edge to the scent though.
As well as just simply smelling delicious, and making you smell good enough to eat, as you might come to expect from Lush products it contains a mix of essential oils which are also going to do you good whilst making you smell delicious.
There is the inclusion of Bergamot Oil which relieves stress and depression and helps combat motion sickness and morning sickness. It raises spirits, libido and confidence, so it will perk up your sex life - which is great, considering any sweet toothed partners are going to be want to get closer to you whenever you smell this great. Fragrance wise it adds a sunny sherbet note to the perfume.
The sweet orange oil, as well as giving the perfume its orange scented undertone, also promotes a warm happy feeling, boots the lymphatic and immune system, and fights stress and depression.
In short, no only will you smell great, you should also feel great. A perfume that actually improves your scent, mood and sex drive; what more could you ask for, for £4.95?
The tin the perfume comes in is absolutely tiny. I mention this because if you are ordering off the website and can't in your head quite picture how much 10g is, then the picture could lead you to be expecting a tin around the size of a Vaseline tin. In fact the tin appears to me to be about 2inches in diameter - although I don't have a ruler so this is just an average from how it looks to me. That said the product inside is quite solid and only a little is needed so it should be quite long lasting, although saying that, mine has a use by date (the only downfall of natural products) of the 2nd of April - so do make sure you read the back when purchasing to find one with a good date as I didn't do this and look what's happened! It was made back in December, so if you buy one that was recently made then you should get a good four months of use out of it. If it didn't have the use by date on, I think you could make this last even longer, but since it only lasts the four months there's no need to scrimp. That said, I fully intend to use mine past its use by date, until it stops smelling as good as it does.
That said, some of the perfumes on the display stand, I couldn't detect barely any scent from. This included American Cream, which people absolutely rave about, so I think that it is not that this perfume doesn't have a strong enough scent but perhaps that the display ones have lost theirs somewhat. Whether this is due to the use by dates, or simply that the lid has been off them for a long time I'm not sure, I'm always quick to replace the lid on mine just in case!
The perfume itself as I mentioned is quite solid, and I've found the best way to get it out of the tin is to scrape a little off with the back of my nail, and then rub it into the skin. When in the tin it's quite difficult to rub (hence getting it with nail rather than finger) but once it meets the skin it's easy to rub in. I apply some on each wrist and my neck and it's enough to leave me smelling lovely.
I think the scent lasts well, although I've read some reviews saying otherwise. I'm not really sure what people expect, but even six hours after applying this the scent is still very much there, so that's more than enough for me. Because the tin is little, and so little is needed when applying, it's great for popping in your hand bag and re applying for an added boost whenever you like anyway.
I absolutely adore the scent; I honestly just sit around smelling my own wrists all day since buying this.
This is absolutely gorgeous and I will definitely be buying this, or perhaps another Lush Solid Perfume when this runs out. I'm definitely converted from spending loads on expensive spray on fragrances.
Summary: I love it!
