Advantages: smells wonderful

Disadvantages: can't apply too well

I have been a fan of the Karma range from Lush ever since I started buying their products a few years ago.
Most people will have heard of Karma if they have every shopped in Lush. It's Lush's trademark fragrance which contains Orange, patchouli and lemongrass oils amongst others. It has a very distinctive smell attached to the Karma range, and it's one that is not for delicate noses.

I wanted to get a bottle of the Karma perfume, but it's more than I wanted to pay at £21 for the odd use. Instead I opted for a tub of Karma solid perfume. At only £4.95 I decided this was going to be great for me as I could pop it in my handbag and take it with me for whenever I needed it.

Solid perfumes from lush come packaged in small silver tin pots. These pots contain 10g of solid mass.
The pots all have screw lids. This isn't obvious when you first come across one of these little pots, and it took me a while to work out how to open it. Now I realise it's the easiest way to open as pulling on and off could prove difficult with slippery hands.

As you open the pot of Karma solid perfume, you are greeted with what looks like a mass of solid honey. The colour resembles a fresh light looking beeswax. The smell that comes out of the pot is something that can't begin to match anything else.
If you're a fan of Karma fragrance you will be opening this pot all the time. A gorgeous smell of patchouli hits you first, with undertones of orange peeking through. I personally don't get any of the other oils, but my nose is taken over by patchouli as it's quite a strong fragrance.

To apply this perfume you can either rub your fingers around the top or then apply to your pulse points, or you can even just rub the pot over the areas you want to apply to.
I find the first way slightly difficult as the perfume is solid, there is no give in the flexibility of it, and you may struggle to get much fragrance onto your body.
The second way of applying is great whilst the tin is full but as it starts to decrease then this method won't be an option so you'll have no choice but to apply with fingers.

This is the main downside to a solid perfume. I haven't found an easier way to apply them yet, and this is the main reason I haven't bought any of the other fragrances from Lush.

The fragrance itself will last well on your skin. It is a very strong smell so you won't need to apply too much anyway. I would say it's more of a daytime perfume as whilst it is strong, it has a fresh feeling to it which makes it suitable for daytime wear.

As with all Lush products, many of them have expiry dates attached to them due to their freshness. You can expect a pot of solid perfume to last you approximately a year before it will need throwing away.
My particular pot was made on 29/10/07 and will need to be used by 29/12/08. There is no way I will have used even half the pot by this time, but I still feel like I have had value for money from it, it's just a shame to have to throw it away. I may leave the lid off it and put it in one of my drawers to enjoy them smell.

If you like the Karma fragrance and don't want a whole bottle of perfume, try this as you won't be disappointed.

Summary: a lovely smelling perfume

I'm a very late fan to the Karma scent, but now I love it! I'm not entirely sure about solid perfumes, but there are a few of my other favorite scents in the new range that are tempting me.
