Lush Orange Blossom Eau de Parfum
Member Name: Vialdana
Lush Orange Blossom Eau de Parfum
Advantages: Cheap, far less chemicals than in most scents today, ethical company.
Disadvantages: Being a solid perfume you have to be careful not to be heavy handed with this.
I'm not a big perfume person these days - mostly because I find that most perfumes smell more of chemicals than of nice smells. I'd guess this is because I don't use many chemicals on me or around my home anymore which means that they stand out to my nose more now.
Having said that, I do still like to have the odd nice scent, so I like to look for things that are a bit more natural to use. Lush tends to be one of the brands I turn to for this.
The Lush Orange Blossom Perfume is a solid perfume. It comes in a small black tube that looks a bit like a stick deodorant and works in a similar way by being pushed up from underneath as you need to expose more of the stick inside.
The stick itself is fairly small - a similar size to say a glue stick - at 12g, so it's very convenient to pop in your pocket or handbag which is great. The price for this is also pretty small - just £5.50 which is a lot less than many perfumes around, and of course being a Lush product it contains a lot less chemicals than many perfumes too.
One great thing about Lush is that they are very open about what their products contain. Now not everything in this is totally natural, but most of it is, and out of 21 ingredients only 5 of them aren't natural. Now admittedly one of those is 'perfume' which can in fact contain many, many ingredients all on its own (I very much dislike the fact that they've listed this one this way but what can you do!), but overall, it's still a lot better than many perfumes and does at least mean I'm limiting the amount of chemicals I'm using if not eliminating them.
Ok your probably wondering what the perfume itself is like - well it's definitely very orangey and quite tangy smelling, and if you're not used to solid perfumes you could quite easily over do this one. The trick to using a solid perfume is to give your neck and wrists a gentle swipe and leave it at that. It's not something you want to be rubbing on thickly. As well as the Orange scent, there's also a few hints of other things, a little sandalwood gives it a slight spiciness, and then the rosewood, neroli and ylang ylang oils that are in there aren't directly evident in their own right, but they definitely add a deeper floral background to the scent.
I'd say overall this is quite a youthful scent, and also pretty definitely a daytime one too. It's not something you'd wear on a date, but perhaps more to head out for lunch with your girlfriends.
Now I've noticed a few other people have mentioned they think this is too strong a scent, and I wonder to be honest if it's to do with how they're using it. Like I mentioned earlier solid perfume can be a bit over powering if you do use too much of it, and I can imagine that if you did this would become quite sickly smelling and would probably leave a fairly greasy feel to your skin, however, a quick swipe leaves what I think is quite a pleasant fragrant springtime smell on my skin, I've never felt that it was greasy or unpleasant in anyway and I'm pretty happy with it overall.
Summary: A strong perfume that you only need a very little of, long lasting and fresh smelling.
