Marc Jacobs Oh Lola Eau de Parfum
Advantages: a simple, everyday scent, bottle, light and fruity
Disadvantages: no wow factor, staying power
Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! EDP is said to be a lighter version of its sister fragrance Lola and is described as being a 'fruity floral fragrance with a youthful charm.'
*Top notes (the initial scent) - strawberry and pear
*Heart notes (the heart of the scent) - rose and peony
*Base notes (the finishing scent) - vanilla and soft wood
There is a matching body lotion and shower gel available to compliment and layer the perfume. A Summery version known as 'Sunsheer' is also available.
The Marc Jacobs range of perfume bottles do not fall into the plain and simple category in terms of design. The Oh Lola! bottle is very feminine in appearance. The glass is tinted pink and beautifully curvy. A large, plastic flower arrangement as a lid finishes the look. It is either one you will like or dislike. I find it to be quite pretty but not a bottle that would be practical to carry around in my handbag.

I am a fan of the Marc Jacobs range of perfumes so was pleased to be able to try Oh Lola! I like the original Lola perfume but find that Oh Lola! is quite a bit different as it doesn't have the spicy element of the original. This is a good thing though as it makes it more appealing to a wider selection of ladies in my opinion.
Oh Lola! is pleasant from the moment that I apply it. It is a simple, everyday scent which has a light feel making it ideal for warmer days where a heavier scent may be a little overpowering. The initial spray offered a refreshing and airy aroma which sat beautifully on my skin. The fruity top notes emerge through and smell absolutely gorgeous. It is a bright, sparkling scent and both the pear and strawberry notes are evident. This combination is perfectly sweet and natural smelling. There is a little sharpness present and I find the opening of Oh Lola! to be really nice.
The freshness of Oh Lola! starts to disappear quite quickly. The bright fruity notes change to reveal a warm, close to the skin sweetness which is lovely to experience. The floral notes of peony and rose become evident through the sweetness and are quite light on my skin. I like the way the scent flows. I'm not crazy for strong floral scents but the heart of Oh Lola! is well balanced with delicate floral notes and a warm sweetness of the top notes. It is a feminine combination and beautifully simple.
After a few hours, the scent changes again and the floral sweetness disappears. It is replaced with a different type of sweetness which is immediately evident as being vanilla. I love the smell of vanilla but it is difficult to pull off without being sickly or unnatural smelling. Oh Lola! offers a mild, powdery vanilla scent which is complimented by a comforting woody undertone. It is a pleasant blend of notes but not outstanding or very strong on my skin. I can only detect Oh Lola! on my skin for around 5hours maximum.
This is a light scent which isn't complex in the slightest. It is an everyday sort of perfume which is perfect for wearing as a light fragrance during the Spring and Summer months. It is likely to appeal to woman of any age providing that they do not expect too much from it. I find it pleasant to wear but wouldn't wear it for special occasions as it doesn't have the right impact on me for special wear.
I do love the different notes that make up this scent. I would say that given the fancy bottle design, I would have expected a fragrance with a bit more character and depth. I have been disappointed by the longevity of this EDP. I wouldn't have minded so much if it had been an eau de toilette but this should really last longer. It is expensive as well. If you do fancy trying this, I would recommend buying as part of a gift set if possible as I feel the scent would be much stronger and longer lasting if layered with the shower gel and body lotion.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: didn't wow me but a pleasant scent all the same
