      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Would be much better if it had better staying power

Before I start let me get one thing straight: I can't stand Mariah Carey. Everything from her constantly airbrushed publicity shots, her warbling la-la-la voice and (mainly) the fact that she dresses as though she's a seven stone model with no-one to tell her she is actually more like Miss Piggy. She just irritates the hell out of me, and has done ever since she burst onto the scene around fifteen years ago. Luscious Pink is the banshee woman's perfume and I was actually very surprised by how much I like it, proving once again that even the most irritating celebrity can produce a beautiful scent.

The bottle is quite basic, the lid features a large pink plastic butterfly which I think is very tacky looking but the bottle itself has a pearly look which does make it look quite feminine. Put it like this, it won't be a bottle I will keep when it's empty as it's simply not impressive to look at and won't bring anything to my collection of finished perfume bottles.

The perfume is very pretty, it has a floral scent which is apparent throughout the life of the perfume but this also mixes in with a woody fragrance and also becomes quite musky after I've been wearing it for a while. Luscious Pink is a lot more subtle than you'd think, bearing in mind the over-the-top personality of Mariah Carey and is also much more sophisticated than her trailer trash personality. You may think you're getting a strong perfume after the first spray but the initial blast of 'pinkness' disappears quite quickly and then you'll find the scent settles down nicely.

It's the bergamot, lily of the valley and pink peony that provide the floral scent and these have all been blended so thoroughly that it's hard to pick out any of the individual fragrances. They give the perfume a delicate and very attractive scent, unfortunately it becomes so delicate that this perfume has hardly any lasting power at all.

The musky scent is the one which will linger, although this isn't a completely attractive musk and definitely doesn't turn the perfume into anything sexy. It's quite sickly during the transition between floral and musky actually and although neither of the obvious scents are overpowering there is a short time frame when they clash, which doesn't make for the very best smell I've ever come across.

I'd say this perfume is more for daytime wear than anything else, from experience I can tell you it doesn't stand up to a night out and you'll either find yourself fragrance-free or else applying it so often that the bottle won't last any time at all. This is a shame actually as I think the feminine, sweet and musky fragrance would be nice to wear during a night out.

I would have liked this perfume to have more attitude. After all, Mariah Carey is known for her extreme diva personality and this fragrance just feels like it has been endorsed by the wrong celebrity. To me it feels as though there is something missing from the blend, which means the perfume doesn't stand up as well as it should do. I actually do like the fragrance and am glad to own a bottle, however there are so many more perfumes I want to try that I doubt very much whether I will replace it once it has all gone.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        -

After really liking the first scent Mariah Carey put out, I was very pleased to receive her second perfume which is called Mariah Carey: Luscious Pink.

The perfume is available in three sizes - 30ml, 50ml and 100ml And it costs between £15 and £25. It can be found in most high street shops and online.

The box of the perfume is very girly and sets the tone for the perfume. The box is square and is baby pink. In the middle of the box on the front is a giant "M" with a butterfly hanging off of the end and underneath are the words "Mariah Carey's Luscious Pink" all in a darker pink colour and swirly romantic font. The actally colouring of the packaging reminds me of the same pink used in the breast cancer research campaigns.

Inside the box is the perfume bottle which is exactly the same as the bottle for Mariah Carey's "M" perfume only it is a different colour this time. Normally I prefer bottles for different scents to be different but I really liked the bottle for "M" so I was pleased with this one. The bottle is a rounded oval shape. It is glass and has an irridscent pink look to it which is you turn it in different lights reflects different colours of the rainbow. You can see through the bottle so you know just how much perfume you have used which is always a good thing. Moving up the bottle to the neck there is a raised design around a ring on the neck which is a metallic pink colour. The lid is a pink butterfly covering a metallic pink spray nozzle. The bottle is very pretty and definately girly to look at.

The scent makes use of the following scent notes: sicilian bergamot, accords of ocean breeze, Bellini, petals of Tiara from Tahiti, lily of the valley, pink peony, blonde wood, sandalwood and white musk. When I first smelled this perfume I could really smell the florals in the perfume. At the first squirt the florals seemed to smell a little sharp but this died away quickly. The lily of the valley and pink peony are definately evident here. It is a very clean and fresh smelling scent. It is light and airy. I don't know if a perfume actually can smell pink but if the colour pink had a scent this would be it! It is a happy scent and very sweet. It is definately girly. I cannot trace any of the wood scents which are used. As the perfume settles though I can always smell the white musk gently laying over the top of the lily of the valley and pink peony, creating a very pretty scent.

I like Luscious Pink but nowhere near as much as I liked "M". I found Luscious Pink to be alot weaker and just not as noticable. It is a day to day scent but it doesn't have a good strength. It is about as strong as the average body spray which lets it down alot.

A little disappointing and possibly a little bit rushed out. I give this perfume 3 DooYoo stars out of 5.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A gorgeous scent but do not expect it to last long

I liked the first perfume that Mariah Carey released so I was very pleased to get the luscious pink fragrance for Christmas a couple of years ago.

        BOX

The perfume comes in a baby pink box with hot pink lettering saying; "M, Mariah Carey Luscious Pink" and is very lovely and girly. It sets the tone for the perfume itself.

        BOTTLE

I absolutely adore the designs of the Mariah Carey perfumes. This 1 has a light pink butterfly lid which you take off to reveal the metallic pink squirter which has a butterfly engraved on the top. The bottle itself is see through so you can see how much you have left and is like a rainbow tint. By that I mean the bottle changes colour in different lights. It has shades of purple, pink, green, blue and yellow. It is simply gorgeous and really does stand out from other perfume bottle designs.

        SMELL

The makeup of this perfume is as follows:
        * Top notes- bergamont and Bellini
        * Middle notes- tiare flower, peony and lily of the valley
        * Base notes- sandal wood and musk

You can see that the scent is also very girly itself. Surprisingly the Bellini cocktail blends very well with the floral elements to give a very sexy feminine scent.
When you use this perfume you do not need to use a lot at a time but you will notice how quickly the smell develops when it has been applied.

It is simply gorgeous and I find that when I wear it it lifts my mood.

I would definitely say that this is more of a young fragrance as it is very floral with a slight hint of musk.

The perfume was created with Elizabeth Arden so you can expect a high quality scent.

HOW SHOULD I WEAR THE PERFUME?

This has to be one of my favourite perfumes because of the scents versatility. It is not too overpowering so can be worn as a day time fragrance and because it is quite a sexy and alluring scent it can be also used as a night time fragrance.

        LASTING POWER

This is a bit of a downfall about this perfume. It doesn't seem to last very long once it has been applied. You can put it on and it seems to fade after just a couple of hours at the most. Perhaps it would last longer if you intensified and layered the scent by using the body lotion that is also available in this range.

        PRICE

Luscious Pink is available in 3 sizes; 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. You can also buy a 200ml scented body lotion.

The cheapest price that I have been able to find online for the 30ml is £15.90 including p&p. The cheapest price online for the 50ml is £22.90 including p&p and the cheapest price for the 100ml is strangely the same price as the 50ml at £22.90. These are all from CheapSmells.
The cheapest price that I have been able to find using a price comparison website for the body lotion is £16.21 and this is from Fragrancenet.com.

        AVAILABILITY

This perfume is available through many outlets both online and on the high street.

        CONCLUSION

If you are looking for an ultra girly scent that can be worn at any time of the day then this is for you. I think that it is a good price considering how versatile it is and it would make a good present if you are looking for a gift that is not too expensive, christmas is just around the corner. I only wish the scent lasted longer, I've combated this issue by carrying the bottle around in my handbag. For that reason I cannot give this product a 10 out of 10, it's going to have to be a 7 out of 10.

          Disadvantages

          Worth a try!

This fragrance from famous US diva Mariah Carey is one that myself and my girlfriend have finally agreed on.........we both like it. Now its rare this happens but ever since we sampled this in the store we have both agreed it should be her first choice for those special occasions.

This is an ideal perfume as its not too strong but is noticeable. Brush past someone with this on and your nosebuds will be ticking over. Its quite "sweet" and subtle at the same time. It has a fairly strong musky element. Its got a fruity, wilderness like quality and doesn't smell too processed but instead smells very natural.

The one downside is it seems to fade quickly and the smell doesn't stick around too long. Maybe three hours tops and in some cases less. Its noticeable for the first few hours but fades quickly which is disappointing compared to the longevity of other brands.

Good for all occasions, going out, work etc and suitable for all tastes. Good gift for any men watching to as it has that initial "wow factor"

The bottle it comes in is nicely decorated and it works wonderfully as a gift. Its competitively priced at around £25 for a 50ml bottle.

Not much to say on this one...

(I know I've wrote loads of fragrance reviews this week - [A] I've been sorting through my collection, weeding out the ones I really use and making notes, so I'm reviewing them while everything is still fresh in my mind and [B] I'm working through my accepted product suggestions.)

          The fragrance
          - - - - - - - - - - - -

LUSCIOUS PINK opens with a juicy grape note that I guess to be the Bellini accord. It's slightly tart, but sweetens very quickly as it mixes with the floral heart notes.

The florals are soft and sweetly clean. I can make out a slight hint of the lily, but became disappointed by how all of the notes blended thoroughily together as everything is so mild, so the fragrance just became a jumble.

The base is a clean wood tinted musk. The musk seems fairly strong to me and helped mask the heart notes even more.

          Scent notes
          - - - - - - - - - -

Bergamot, Ocean Breeze accord, sparkling Bellini accord, Tahitian Tiare, lily of the valley, pink peony, bright blond woods, creamy sandalwood and white musk

          The bottle
          - - - - - - - - -

Is the same shape as M, with the shape butterfly cap. I think the pearlescent colours of gold, pink and baby blue are very pretty.

The shape makes it very easy to grip - even if your hands are wet.

          Other buying considerations
          - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

It's feminine, light and easy to wear; it can be worn to work, on the weekends with jeans, but perhaps not for evenings out as it's too 'quiet'.

As the scent notes are toned down you can wear LUSCIOUS PINK all year round; No single note is strong enough to be disagreeable in either extreme cold or extreme heat.

As it's a milder fragrance, it burns down quickly; You'll need to refresh it every 2/3 hours.

          - - - - - - - - - -
          My opinion
          - - - - - - - - - -

While I don't dislike LUSCIOUS PINK, I don't really use it [it was a gift]. It's too watered down - nothing grabs me about it.

There is nothing unique about it; The first thing that came to mind was "It's a weaker version of Fairy Dust [and the name is just as tacky".
Also; the lasting power is very poor for a EDP and the musk is too much for me.

I've put this one on the 'give away' pile...

          - - - - - -
          RRP
          - - - - - -

          30ml: £20
          50ml: £26
          100ml: £37

LUSCIOUS PINK was designed for the Asian market, so I'm not sure if it's an LE on the UK market. Larger stores like Boots don't seem to stock it now, but others stores e.g. Superdrug do.

This fragrance from Mariah Carey, contains notes of Sicilian bergamot, accords of ocean breeze and Italian sparkling cocktail Bellini. The heart hides petals of Tiara from Tahiti, lily of the valley and pink peony, while the base notes include accords of bright blond wood, sandalwood, white musk, which is a combination of notes described as a floral melody developing as Mariah's voice. The bottle of Luscious Pink is very romantic and contains the same form as its predecessor. The creator is Jean Antretter, senior design director of the house of Elizabeth Arden. The bottle is coloured in pink nuances and yellow and light blue contours this time.
