“ Brand: Marks & Spencer / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Toilette / Gender: for women „
I always like to carry a bottle of perfume in my handbag so that I can freshen up during the day, especially during the warmer months of the year! However I do have a tendency to misplace things when I take them out in my handbag and so am always reluctant to put expensive perfumes or large bottles in my bag. While shopping in a Marks and Spencer's outlet store I came across four small bottles of perfume, each containing 25ml, for the bargain price of £4.00 and absolutely ideal for storing in my different handbags. The first perfume I tried was the True Red Eau de Toilette which is apparently an imitation of Hugo Boss' Deep Red perfume. The bottle design is certainly very similar with a tinted deep red glass bottle that appears lighter at the bottom and darker at the top. It has a clear plastic cap lid which is also made of glass that is easily pulled off and pushed back on. The brand name and the product name are both displayed in silver writing on the bottom in quite a small font giving it quite an appealing and expensive visual look overall. The perfume is advertised as being "racy" and containing "zingy pineapple" and "intense orange." I personally find it to be quite a strong fragrance and also quite a heavy fragrance in that if you breathe it in straightaway it's quite sickly and can catch in your throat. It's certainly not what you'd call a light or flowery fragrance; it's much heavier and somehow stronger than that. Overall it's not an unpleasant fragrance but it's a little too dark for me, with quite strong hints of jasmine and musk which I'm not really that keen on. Other reviews of this perfume have said that it's quite long lasting but I'd probably have to disagree from my own personal experience with this fragrance. I find that if I spray it on my wrists and neck the scent is quite powerful for the first twenty minutes or so (so powerful that my mum asked if I'd spilt the bottle on me at one point!) before fading quite quickly so that after a couple of hours it's not evident at all. It's definitely more of a night time fragrance due to the high presence of heavy musk than a light daytime fragrance. This perfume is great to carry around in my handbag if I ever need to freshen up quickly but I certainly wouldn't choose to buy a larger bottle or choose to wear it for a special occasion. The only good thing about it is the fact that it effectively only cost me £1.00! A 25ml bottle currently retails in stores at £6.00 while a 100ml bottle costs only £12.00 which is certainly a lot cheaper than your average 100ml bottle of perfume, however you will have to compromise on quality and scent if you buy this. Sadly it only gets two stars! Thanks for reading.
